Thanks for showing this, I was wondering what it would be like. I must say it's disgraceful to say the least, how is this place allowed to be open? They might as well open a museum promoting the flat earth theory! Now I had no problem with the idea that of a genesis exhibition, but on the basis that it was just about the bible story, whatever floats your boat as far as I'm concerned. But I object to their trying to discredit scientific fact, it's sickening, and needs to be shut down!
spose they have to do something with old pubs that are closing down. Couldn't they have done something more intelligent than importing this daft hillbilly rubbish
It is just a load of Christian propaganda that has no basis in science and no interest in advancing our understanding of the world. It just fills the world with ignorance.
i live nearby in pompey, i went to this place a year ago. i asked the guy a few questions. seemed nice enough but he wasn't very clued in on evolution.
Huh. So they actually have a creationist museum in Britain? Nice to know that the Brits have their share of religious nutters, and that they’re not just confined to America. :P
@freetheworldof I'm not, these creationist museums cropping up all over the world won't last, they are the works of businessmen exploiting peoples faith and beliefs purely for money. Alot of christians accept evolution based on the facts and are smart enough to understand why god has to be left out of equations of science and the smarter ones aware of history see the benefits of challenging their own beliefs.
@adamb0000 at least they call it a disgrace in the UK. Here in America such Museums are actually VERY PROUD ACHIEVEMENTS TO OUR INTELLIGENCE AND INTRIGUITY.
@adamb0000 the proud creationist museum in Ketuncky costed 27 million US to make and actually looks very professional in presentation. Unfortunately the message it gives out is crap (Biblical literalism) and even though Answers in Genesis (the supposedly non-profit organization) funded the creation (no pun intended) of it purely through charitable donations, the musuem's ticket prices are fairly high (I checked) so how is AIG a non-profit organization?
@adamb0000 it stands for Answers in Genesis. As the name suggest it is an organization dedicated specifically for proving the Bible's claims to be literal.
Excellent point Ans! I suppose I do not understand why some would be so hateful and mocking of those that do not support the theory of evolution outside of the species. I know many people that are not stupid or even religious that do not adhere to the theory. I think we need more open debate and discussion without the aspersions. And thanks for commenting so quickly!
@Suzito It is my thinking that people are welcome to their opinions on anything. However when they activly promote a possition ie with expos or YT videos they are obliged to be factual. The facts are against many groups who activly promote an anti science standpoint. Be it anti vax, 911, aids deniers or creationists. Once people try to convince others of these things that is when their private opinions become subject to examination and mocking. People who genuinely seek to learn more however are
Yes and people can say what they want but as I said before there is room for legitimate debate on this matter although I can see I am not the one to do it while as those that believe 9-11 was an inside job there isn t much room for debate just show em the facts and move on because I really have not met such antagonistic hateful people in my life! So please don t lump me into that bunch that you mentioned or you can, but I don t like it hahaha Have a great one
@Answersinbooks Do you consider medicine to be science? So your definition of science is to search for explainations until they pan out so to speak?
"Suzito If it is your belief that these things are so because god made them that way that doesn't bother me. So long as it is clear that it is belief in spite of the evidence" Like I said No it would be more because of rather then inspite of. Many major scientists know there had to be a much higher being and acknowledged the exsistence of God.
@Suzito Many scientists have religious beliefs, none "know". Although I would encourage you to familiarise yourself with the statistics - in general as the level of education increases the level of religiosity decreases. This is seen in the sciences where statistics stratified by qualitification (BSc, MSc, PhD etc) and prominence (a slightly more abstract variable but measured by membership to prestigious scientific organisations) show the higher you go the less religious people you have.
in general as the level of education increases the level of religiosity decreases.
Perhaps religiousity but hopefully not relationships with God. Religion is what man does for God, Provision for a relationshipe with God is what He has done for us, so that we would not have to be alienated from our Creator.
@Suzito I believe the working definition of "religiosity" was the percentage of the group that held a belief in the existence of a god, not the level of involvement in religious rituals.
@Suzito more than welcome. I obviously don't know everything and can happily come up with ideas as to how a given system works. I would not present an idea as fact however. Rather I would ask questions and research the answer. Anyone who does likewise has done nothing wrong no matter their original ideas. As long as people are open to learn the world will get on just fine :)
I really like the way you put things but as far as the World getting on just fine at this point I am hoping it would get on better! So many problems and most of them we did to ourselves.......pity isn t it?!
My goodness, although extremely crudely put together and somewhat laughable it does provide some facts that I would like to hear you try and dispute. Think for yourself!, If you turn out 20 dogs of different breeds they will not mate and come up with the best in show! They will all be mutts! Anything left to it's self does not become better with age, it deteriorates or degenerates.Well except for diamonds..
@Suzito Your assessment of the dogs as mutts is purely a subjective matter. The dog breeds are selected by humans. Humans controlled their development to our desires. Natural selection selects the fittest to pass on their genes. I have taken on a few of the displays in a recent video. Many more if not all of these displays arguments have been debunked already. If you need a hand finding out more and genuinely want to learn let me know.
@Suzito Are mutts really degenerate though? Think of all the genetic diseases that affect pedigree breeds (such as spine problems in pugs). Individual animals will not become better or evolve over their individual lifetime, however the species as a whole will evolve as a result of natural selection. Those that don't simply become extinct.
@Suzito Okay I am glad you agree on the basic principle that diversity occurs. I also take it that you agree that these diverse characteristics are passed on. If so what is stopping them from adding up to forming a new species? There is nothing. In fact type 'observed instances of speciation' into google and the first page you come to has a list of species that scientists have actually recorded diverging.
Diversity is one thing and evolution within the species also because one can see that it obviously occurs. I believe that God defines man and does not need science to explain some of His workings because He is sovereign. Science has been shown to be wrong many times,I didn t believe in evolution species jumping before I believed..The incredible complexity in living systems and the structure of the universe. This complexity is beyond the possibility of natural development
@Suzito If it is your belief that these things are so because god made them that way that doesn't bother me. So long as it is clear that it is belief in spite of the evidence. Science can't exist on the idea that god did it. Science seeks to explain and describe the universe. We would not know how complicated the universe is. "Science has been shown to be wrong many times" I disagree 100% Science is a process of questioning and testing. When a hypothesis or theory is overturned or refined it is
@Suzito not science being proved wrong. That IS science. To refine, to get to a working model of the systems we see. Something that can be disproved (shown to be wrong). It is what science does. However those theories, gravity, atomic theory, germ theory of disease have stood the test of time being refined all the while. Their core ideas still stand however. Evolution is in this group.
As I say it is not a problem that you believe as you do. Just be aware the evidence doesn't support you :)
@Answersinbooks Just be aware the evidence doesn't support you :)
yes it does
Natural selection can only operate on the genetic material already present in a population of organisms. It cannot create new genetic information and subsequently change one kind of organism into another.
@Suzito en. wikipedia. org / wiki / Mutation Scroll down the page to "Classification of mutation types" Even tho this is wikipedia this has got at least 2 mechanisms described for increasing the number of bases in a genome. Out of interest do you hold any science qualification?
BTW these are observed facts. These mutations have been seen to occur. So I am sorry to say again. Yours is a faith position and while there is nothing wrong with that. It is not science and is not supported by evidence
I will look at it carefully later busy today and don t be sorry at all this is one matter that will not change the world no matter what you and I think and thank you for the time you spend to reply Have a great one
@Suzito Natural selection prefers those who have some kind of advantage over others of their kind. The advantages are caused by mutations. This has been proven. You can read about it any biology text where I am sure you will find it thoroughly explained. Mutations are small changes in DNA. We know that DNA changes. The mutation can be helpful, unhelpful, or have no effect. Look up some of the mutations frogs can have when the eggs are fertilized in polluted water.
Just as cigarette packets carry a public health warning this 'museum' should be forced to display a public stupidity warning, or perhaps just a picture of Ray Comfort would do.
At lease it's totaly amiturish, mildly excentric and empty - typicaly English, and there's not a kid in the country that will buy into anything this crass.
However, the number of times I used creationism in the US to wind up my American friends. It was all in good fun, but now I feel the jokes on me 100 fold.
All the tired old creationist arguments gathered into one place... and I thought the Creation Evidence Museum in Granbury, TX was bad. This place is much worse!
It's scary to think that a country that, long ago, dismissed creationism as the unscientific nonsense that it is allowed this to happen! I am now officially ashamed to be British.
As an American and huge fan of the UK, I wish to formally apologize to everyone in the UK for exporting this nonsense to you guys. I assure you, we are working hard to localize and quarantine these loons.
I can`t believe this is here in the uk. All the cliche` strawman arguements. This place would wind me up I`d have to say something, try and correct them if i see any staff, purposly get myself thrown out for telling them how wrong they are.
I've got empathy for you all in the UK watching this. The largest of these scientific atrocities mares not only my home country, but also my home state!
this is a complete load of horse shit this is, there is nothing scientific about Creationism. It makes as much sense as testing the caution hot warning on a coffee cup by throwing it straight in your face. These people are so deluded it is untrue.
The people who do this, and waste money and resources to manipulate and brainwash ignorant people should be in jail. Free speech does not mean you can pollute a society with none sense.
I knew they were planning on building a huge one in Glasgow, but I didn't know it was already established in the UK! damn.... kind of scary that this kind of ignorance is around in the supposedly educated world.....
I'm not bothered. Looks about as big and as well kept and funded as a corner-shop in London. Nothing like the $25 million Creation 'Museum' they have in the states.
Again this type of creation museum claims to be a cration museum when it just peddles the Judeo-Christian interpretation. What about Hindu, Scandinavian, Celtic and African creation myths. Answer its a christian fronted propaganda museum that is NOT a creation one. Its just like Sientology brainwashing.
"Why is it so upsetting...?" Are you mad? Well, you have a fascination for puppets, so you don't need to answer that question. But I will answer yours. Institutions like this undermine scientific discovery, and scientific discovery is the currency which pays for our technological and societal advancement. Science talks about natural phenomena. Religion talks about "supernatural phenomena". It's not religion's place to comment on science, and certainly not when the objective is...
Your comment was no doubt asked out of genuine curiosity, and you probably don't see the harm in such a museum. But as you'll see, your comment has received 3 thumbs down so far in less that 24 hours. So, you've made at least 3 people shake their heads in shame.
Without coming down too hard on you, it's attitudes like yours that enable ideas of the ignorant - like the creation story - to propagate. This hurts science, this hurts progress, and it hurts me and you!
If atheists were as dishonest as creationists, then we'd probably write spurious things - see below - and spread out misinformation and propaganda too. Luckily, we have logic, reason and evidence on our side!
Imagine how stupid atheists would look if they wrote the following:
if only these people thought...they are not thinking outside the box...they are making shit up in order to support a bronze age religion's claims.
also - nobody claims to be right all the time, but at least these people should have tried to verify their claims and opinions prior to opening a bloody museum. I am half way through the vid and have yet to see one thing that is right....
...apart from the instruction as to which door to pull.
So it's the same old same old only tackier, but with a nicer accent. On the upside the place housing it looks like it started life as a pub. No that's a downside, it was a pub, but isn't anymore.
I wouldn't agree with shutting it down. I think this sad little excuse for a joke is a brilliant example of what happens when you stop thinking and blindly follow an incredibly dumb cult.
We shouldn't censor it, we should drag it into the cold light of day to ridicule it and use it to educate people about evolution.
Jezus Zombie! Don't let my sister know this exists! She has already been duped by our local evangelical bullshit church. She says to me "evolution is JUST a theory" oh wow no wonder you failed all your exams at school sis.
the notion that Crinoids all fall apart after death is Highly erroneous. And at 7:40 is are they Trying to display a Phylogram of some type? It makes no sense.
We don't have one in Oz but Ham is from here. It looked pretty sad, the guy at the counter looked a bit surprised to see someone. Any idea on its attendance rates?
Especially in the Middle East. There is this Turkish guy called Adnan Okhtar who takes this whole new creation science thing to a whole new level, with supermarket magazines and glossy publications, and now a stagggering minority in Turkey now believes in evolution. He is bringing Turkey into the Dark Ages singlehanded.
Oh, and he is in prison for something to do with prostitution.
WOW this was ridiculously insane. In fact, I think if you're going to read one book, then Donald Prothero's 'Evolution: What the Fossils Say and Why it Matters" would suffice.
I loved the video narrator's comment on crinoids being intact - therefore rapid burial - therefore Noah's flood.
There are entire deposits - gargantuan slabs of rock containing disarticulated crinoids in my local area, which have are in no way, shape, or form "intact".
This made me feel sick. How could they lie so much, and so brazenly? It was ALL bullshit. I'm staggered at how cheeky they are to have this place open when it's so full of crap that it borders on a joke.
And then folllowed by a badly quote mined quote from Colin's leaving out the key words in it wich were something like, If I knew of any direct ancestory fossil's of living things I would have included them." wich is true, we have never, and probably never ever ever ever will." you can tell where they left out the words because it becomes fragmented there....the hosers...god I hate them.
Heh about the only thing they got right in here is that there are no transitional fossil's found ever between reptiles and birds...:> Unfortunetly for them thats not what evoluition predicts and it's found plenty of times for dinosaur/birds.
No the camera was not hidden. I just carried it as if I was not using it. I did have audio recording equipment about my person as well to capture the audio. This was not visible. I stopped recording before I was asked to do so, otherwise I would have been obliged to stop the audio recording as well.
this is life-saving advice; to be more precise brain saving strategies. Anyone who has a functioning brain and yet wants to visit this museum, with advice from the medical community, should bring intellectually stimulating books.
an intellectual toxicity warning label should be put on this building that this museum is in!
I heard it was bad, I also heard that some years ago there was a british geological survey conference in portsmouth, so after the lecture a good number of the geologists raided the place and got kicked out for pointing out the mistakes and offering to come back with evidence contrary to what the exhibits said.
just like creationists to make a museum devoted entirely to debunk something without actually answering any question. there needs to be a museum devoted to debunking the creationists views. i know real museums do that but they do not directly argue their claims.
Okay-I'm pissed off for y'all and the rest of us as well.
I was a geology major before I switched over to a medical field and that clap trap they were blathering about was absolutely infuriating to hear.
The sign about Urey and Miller was so bloody (I love that Brit word : ) stupid and misleading that I got really pissed off and had to stop the vid and go get some fresh coffee and calm down.
I think there should be one of these in every town. Don't you think ?
It would be a great place to go for a good laugh.
Somewhere to take the kids and show them how stupid some grown-ups can be, what happens if you don't think very analytically and how to watch out for sneaky deceptions and sleights of hand.
lol they used the mouse trap! someone should film themselves going there with half a mousetrap(base, spring and bar) launching stuff at the people who work there to show them that it is NOT irriduacably complex. perhaps wearing a mouse trap tieclip or hairclip.

However, the number of times I used creationism in the US to wind up my American friends. It was all in good fun, but now I feel the jokes on me 100 fold.

It's scary to think that a country that, long ago, dismissed creationism as the unscientific nonsense that it is allowed this to happen! I am now officially ashamed to be British.

this is a complete load of horse shit this is, there is nothing scientific about Creationism. It makes as much sense as testing the caution hot warning on a coffee cup by throwing it straight in your face. These people are so deluded it is untrue.

Again this type of creation museum claims to be a cration museum when it just peddles the Judeo-Christian interpretation. What about Hindu, Scandinavian, Celtic and African creation myths. Answer its a christian fronted propaganda museum that is NOT a creation one. Its just like Sientology brainwashing.

why is it so upsetting that some people think outside the box? Surely nobody can claim to be right all the time
hellyersonline 2 years ago
hellyersonlin
"Why is it so upsetting...?" Are you mad? Well, you have a fascination for puppets, so you don't need to answer that question. But I will answer yours. Institutions like this undermine scientific discovery, and scientific discovery is the currency which pays for our technological and societal advancement. Science talks about natural phenomena. Religion talks about "supernatural phenomena". It's not religion's place to comment on science, and certainly not when the objective is...
bettySwollox 2 years ago
...to undermine mountains of evidence in favour of evolution, with nothing more than creationist propaganda like this very museum.
As for "thinking outside the box", when that box is REALITY, then you are meandering in a world of FANTASY.
Box 1: reality = evolution
Box 2: fantasy = creation
There's nothing wrong with being open-minded, just not so open-minded that your brain falls out!
bettySwollox 2 years ago
Your comment was no doubt asked out of genuine curiosity, and you probably don't see the harm in such a museum. But as you'll see, your comment has received 3 thumbs down so far in less that 24 hours. So, you've made at least 3 people shake their heads in shame.
Without coming down too hard on you, it's attitudes like yours that enable ideas of the ignorant - like the creation story - to propagate. This hurts science, this hurts progress, and it hurts me and you!
bettySwollox 2 years ago
If atheists were as dishonest as creationists, then we'd probably write spurious things - see below - and spread out misinformation and propaganda too. Luckily, we have logic, reason and evidence on our side!
Imagine how stupid atheists would look if they wrote the following:
(Taken from Voodoosixxx's channel)
The Virgin Delilah and baby Samson
Adam sacrificing Cain
King Solomon walking on water
Jesus' Ark
Moses dying on the cross
Noah rising from the dead
Well, this is what creationist do!
bettySwollox 2 years ago 2
if only these people thought...they are not thinking outside the box...they are making shit up in order to support a bronze age religion's claims.
also - nobody claims to be right all the time, but at least these people should have tried to verify their claims and opinions prior to opening a bloody museum. I am half way through the vid and have yet to see one thing that is right....
...apart from the instruction as to which door to pull.

Especially in the Middle East. There is this Turkish guy called Adnan Okhtar who takes this whole new creation science thing to a whole new level, with supermarket magazines and glossy publications, and now a stagggering minority in Turkey now believes in evolution.

Oh my! It starts with the placard on the outside:
"Where else can you see a nest of fossil dinosaur eggs?"
Erm, the Natural History Museum in London, for starters. And it goes downhill from there:
"Feathers are features unique to birds"
Except for when they're on feathered dinosaurs.
And it keeps getting worse.

No the camera was not hidden. I just carried it as if I was not using it. I did have audio recording equipment about my person as well to capture the audio. This was not visible. I stopped recording before I was asked to do so, otherwise I would have been obliged to stop the audio recording as well.
