nice motor! it looks like it is running really smoothly! I am currently in the middle of a project myself. I am building a reed switch motor, and so far it seems to work! Great video!
"What is causing the drag and how can we reduce it. Number of turns in the coil? radius of the coil? I need to investigate this."
If you removed that drag on the motor, you wouldn't make any power.
I have an alternator in my garage.. when you activate the field coils (the part that makes power) you can barely turn it by hand at all.. when the coils are off, it spins quite freely by hand..
Lens's law governs this crap like the other dude said..
Was that an LED light rated at ~12V? I was wondering how much Amperage is generated, voltage is great but it only tells a third of the power output. I have been trying these sort of experiments but rather with solar panels. I purchased three solar panels which together generate ~68 V, 1 Watt, 0.05 Amps. The fact that the amperage is low bugs me and at one point I opened the solar panels to see whether any resistor(s) were purposely placed, but none. Nice video and keep it up.
o-o put it in a vacuum environment so it would have less drag like a hard drive?

why do you use the leds? why cant you hook everything up straight?

what if you put the rotor in a vacuum?

What are we trying to accomplish here, if I may ask.

hi.the drag is caused by lens' law. not totally sure, but that seems like the problem. cool vid:)
