  • awesome alto sax!

  • not much of an audience to energize. good job but try to work in some harmonies and have the trumpet player work on his tone and dynamics

  • we play this

  • hmmmm..

  • this is a wicked song to jam to. i recently did it in my senior school jazz band the other day as well! great job!

  • There are more people up there than in the audience

    HAHAHA

  • late night, some ppl stayed up past their bedtimes.

  • the seating you see was just the extra seating we had to put out. the bleachers, where people normally sit, are behind the camera.

  • HIHI BUDAH

  • Great lightshow... hehe.. :)

  • but you have time to make yourself feel better about your own lack of musical ability?

  • Apologies...I guess that was a little harsh. I have to play this song with a band, and during my youtube search for a group that did something creative with one of jazz's most abused standards, I happened to flip my lid while watching this video. An unfortunate coincidence ;)

To their credit, the sentinel jazz band has a good group sound, appropriately enthusiastic feel for the tune, and a good presence on the stage.

  • It sounded fine, but this is a groove tune, and you guys take way too up tempo.

  • the problem with that is that it doesn't get audiences energized. i guess it doesn't really matter since we didn't really have an audience...

  • is that so? you obviously haven't heard the Cannonball Adderley version of this song..

    Don't blame the music.

  • different type of culture. ppl need to understand the music to feel it.

  • It's your job to make them understand it.

  • yer we also paly it 'cool' slow

  • hey "reallyitalian" get a job

  • Dude I'm a college student, I don't have time for a job ;)

  • laaaaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmeee.

Drums drag, horns are out of tune.

why do people still play this song?

  • HAHA gotta love the corny light show ... but im affraid thats about all i really enjoyed about this video ... not the best rendition of mercy mercy mercy...

  • This is my favorite song! I remember when my jazz band played it. We werwn't that good!

  • awesome improvs!

  • Properly we should refer to this tune as as BY Joe Zawinul FOR Cannonball! Joe wrote for Mr. Adderley!

  • Great performance.

Wish Ian had a guitar solo in it, though.
