But why would I need a 3D TV? I have seen a few movies and in 3D they are horrible to watch -messy and blurred. Most of the time when there was some action I could not see anything at all. Besides my feeling of the 3D alone is that objects are in different distance but actually they appear/seem flat. I will definitely not buy a 3D TV , nor go to the cinema to watch in 3D. Buy and large sheep unite..

@rabbitasshole If you are trying to watch a 3D movie on a regular tv set then it will not work. You have to use a special 3D tv and glasses. They are coming out with tv's where you won't need the special glasses to get the effects of 3D. I am also seeing hologram ones starting to emerge on youtube. Around 2015 you will be able to see more amazing stuff. I am waiting to purchase new stuff years down the road, not now. I would wait to buy as it will be outdated in a few years.

@sithassassin96 whatever you do don't go with a plasma, if you leave something paused for too long it can burn an image into the screen, they are also discontinuing them soon. Both the sony tv's will be good, just depends on screen size preference.

not likely Too many drawbacks:

1. Broadcasters JUST upgraded to digital. Theyre going to upgrade to 3d NOW?

2. The economy sux

3. 3D glasses are required Theyre expensive and at best only ONE pair is included

4. Best Buy says that it is unclear if current home theaters are compatible

5. Best Buy says its unclear if 3D TV will upconvert

6. People are just now buying LCDs, Now we're being asked to upgrade again? In THIS economy?

7. Extra equipment is needed

Perhaps; but, the economy is very shaky.

But, as the IPad has proven, people will pay for needless toys; regardless of price. Personally, there is zero way i'm buying 3D tv until the majority of networks broadcast in 3D; and 3D DVDs are mainstream.

I will give at least one vendor this much: Their 2D images were very clear and sharp. But, why would I be watching 2D on a 3D TV? Why not just buy a better LCD?

Are they not just taking the 1080x 1920 and splitting it into 2 seperate pictures.

I thougfht FULL HD3D was 1080x1920 full resolution displayed twice so no deteriation in picture quality which I'm sure you will get if you take the 1080x1920 and display 2 frames at half resolution ie 1080x960...

Panasonic's 3D plasma TV with active shutter glasses is FullHD (1080p). On the other hand, LCD TV's employing passive polarized glasses sacrifice half the horizontal resolution since the images for the left eye and right eye are created simultaneously on the display. Its not clear yet what technology Sony will use

no its a 3D image shown in its full 1920x1080 picture shown at 120/240 hz (UK) and the glasses will split the frame rate into 60/120 per eye depending on TV. very much like the Nvidia 3D glasses. check it out

Yea I just went to see The Final Destination in 3D tonight, and the whole time i thought it was going to be stupid and those cheap blue and red glasses, but noooo it's called Real D 3D, they are actually decent quality glasses, they look identical to sunglasses, there in this video too. I want to say i was impressed, it was absolutely real as it gets for now... but it makes me have a chill up my back to say what will they come up with 10 years from now! omg...

but the difference between 4080p to 1080p will be none. the reason why 1080p is big is because you can watch movies in high resolution from ur big screen without any distortion. having 4080p is like da difference in watching 10mega pixil and 5 megapixil pictures in ur 15 inch laptop. NO DIFFERECE! just bigger picture without distortion. so unless u have a 70 inch tv, it won't make a difference. now if da games played at a different frequency like 1000hz or sumting, that would be truly next gen.
