@venerablemasterNV It's not from his nose tho it's more from his stomach. It's a really really deep noise. This video really doesn't do how loud it is justice. It was intimidating even tho I knew he couldn't get me. It made me still back up. From everyone I've talked to that works with animals, including the zoo staff, it's what he does to sort of guard lioness that's in there with him and it's his "back off" roar.
I've looked through so many video's it's not even funny. All I want to do is see a real life lion roar LOUD, you know, maybe just a little like the ones in Lion King do? That would be awesome to see. But all the ones I can find are these quiet little fits.
@IBreak4It From what I hear that's because if that do that full on roar they are going to attack you, so whoever filmed it probably wouldn't live. How loud this was doesn't come through in video. This vibrates your chest and I know someone who lives near this zoo and they said they can hear the lions at night and late afternoon, they live about 2 miles away. It's a really deep roar.
@AnAverageSkeptic yes it's scary cause if you ever get lost in africa or anything and if you hear that you don't know if it'f near by or 3 miles away very creepy

@TheFoxyhatless It's more the bass than the sound. It vibrates your body basically anywhere in the zoo. When he did it this time we happened to be around the corner and it felt like an earthquake. When we got up close to him my sister hid behind me, scared I guess thinking I could stop a full grown lion if it were to get thru the fence. It shook us so bad that the drink I was holding looked like that scene from Jurassic Park. It's a REALLY deep noise he makes.
Must be a really awkward situation to be a caged lion. His frustration is understandable. The law of attraction is surely doing quite a few negative things to all the people that caught this fellow creature and forcibly holds him in bondage.
It's okay tho, this is a very young civilization. We are learning to do other things.
@MuerteyMalevolencia It doesn't sound very loud in this. I don't think it's a roar, I think it's some other noise lions make. When you hear this in person it vibrates your body and you can hear it over a mile away.
@MuerteyMalevolencia It was loud, like I said it made your body vibrate. Plus, I don't know what to call that noise, so it's a roar. Find out what the noise is called and I'll change the title, until then it's a roar.
he's defending his territory and saying FUCK OFF!!! (no he really is)

thats not a roar, its a bark. big cats bark sort of. it means hes mad i think
SWCeagles2007 1 year ago
@SWCeagles2007 I've never heard that it means they're mad. I've heard it meant "back off". If that means he's mad then he's an miserably angry lion.

@AnAverageSkeptic ur probly right, i wasnt sure what it meant, i just knew it wasnt a roar.
