No, Jaguar didn't just show their car 'breaking down'. Two points: First, read the video description at the top of the page - the ad is by Pretty Polly, not Jaguar.

Second, a snapped fan belt is a consumable, it's hardly 'breaking down'! The point of this video clip's title is that the essential shots of the ad are long lingering ones of the beautiful car, driver and location, which together would have made a great ad for Jaguar. Unlike the ones of today's XF, in which you hardly get a clear view of the car - almost as if they were ashamed of it.

I can't believe women don't wear stockings/ pantyhose very often these days their legs look so much better when they do!...these days you just see all the bits you son't want to see like big toes lumpy knees etc ...as for the car....I have a 1986 xj6 soveriegn and it has the same engine in it as the xk120 in this ad! the 1948 xk120 had a 3.8ltr twin cam 6 cyl engine ours [1986] has a 4.2 ltr twin cam 6 cyl! I'm lucky my wife does wear stockings........love it!

The song is called 'Move Over Darling.' The original version was sung by Doris Day (it was written by her son, Terry Melcher). I don't know if the Doris Day version is the one used on this commercial or whether it's a cover version. Tracy Ullman did a cover version in the 1980's which charted in both the UK and US - there is a video of it here on Youtube!

Thats hilarious. I actually have one of the wifes old thigh high stockings in the glove box of my Toyota truck right now! I lost a belt one morning... and tried to tie a freaking bungee cord around the pulleys!!! Ever try to tie a knot in a bungee cord? It ain't pretty. That's Katrina Skepper who did a stint as a presenter on the aptly-named Heaven and Earth Show on BBC1 Sunday mornings a while ago. She also did another advert for Seven Up where she starts out as a 'news anchor' then sheds her clothes down to a one-piece and dives into a pool.
