If you want to put your "Civic with little engine work" to the test, I've got a '90 GMC truck in my driveway with a BONE STOCK 350 with the stock 700r4 tranny, stock rear end, and the size tires it calls for from the factory in my driveway. I'll put it up against your little riceburning-fart in a coffee can-pretty bitchboy-POS Civic.
You would have to completely redo all the internals, and use forced induction to even try to touch this badass timepiece from a better day in car making history. As far as outperforming, put a Honda Civic and any 60-70 muscle car in a straight line, and the Civic is going to get shit on. Sure, the cars were made heavy and won't hold the road as well as an import, but by the time the Chevelle has taken the time to take it easy through the curves the Civic can't even see his brake lights.
I get a big kick seeing these wet dish mops wasting tires they truly are a joke because most modern 4 cyl hondas with little engine work will out perform these steroidal muscle cars from the 70's and get reasonable gas mileage at the same time! My advice trade that thing in on the cash for clunkers deal, it looks like someones moms car anyway. Don't have a hissy fit either when you read this comment because that thing is a joke! As far as size vs. performance, hell.. You could make a turbo charged 1 cyl and make a hell of alot of power, but it wont be cheap, and it definitely won't be "little engine work."
