bcoz this two players very ranking in the world...these two guys want two show who the best sometime lcw win sometimes lin dan win...we see in the olympic london 2012
@saiyangoku94 the website is saying that tennis needs more agility than badminton, i really don't think that is correct, i have played badminton in the english circuit and i do enjoy tennis but this website was done by the western media so it could just be slightly biased.
no,they are both hard to play, because tennis needs more stamina and strength, but badminton needs stamina as well as fine and smooth technique, which is what tennis doesn't need the most. That's why tennis is more suitable for western people(who is stronger),and badminton is more suitable for Asian who is better in controlling their strength and doing fine movement. And that's why famous player of tennis and badminton are mostly western ppl and Asian respectively.
the reason why tennis is more famous and popular I have several deductions:
1) western economics is better than the sports can be well advertised and organized ( if you know the difference of price in badminton and tennis)
2) based on 1, it influences people thru any media about Tennis. and also Tennis require bigger space to play, and in western countries( like in usa), it has more land.
Even it's harder or not, you cant really have their levels in your life.
@saiyangoku94 both of the sports are equally difficult. you need more strength in tennis, but dont need much brain power/skill. and badminton is quite prominent as a world sport too.
@carfreakshreyas Lin Dan recorded the fastest smash in the current meta-game, and he uses incredible angles when he jumps, LCW got an amazing defense and net play , you're clearly an ignorant in badminton...
@Repstellar the power comes from the legs. A lot of players ignore this concept and lose out on a lot of power. If you watch instructional videos..i think his name is peter rasmussen, he explains this concept very well.
so my suggestions:
- get behind the bird early
- hit it as high as possible
- flick the legs on impact of smash to increase power
- rotate body as you are smashing
- use wrist at moment of contact to generate good angle
- use your left hand to guide the right before smashing
@pokerjunkie56 That's exactly what a badminton player needs - strong legs, light upper body. Muscle mass won't make him smash faster - increase in muscle memory and his naturally good twitch muscles do
so funny xia xuanze at 6:31 hes like "YEAH HE HAS DONE IT" and 2 seconds later he remembers "oh im coaching an arrogant motherfucker, CALM THE FUCK DOWN!" :D
@sotx i was a junior nat tennis player before i turned 19. i weighed 122 pounds and was 5'9" when i played.
tennis requires speed, cardio, and endurance. not so much physical strength since solid strokes use your entire body as their driving force. tennis matches last much longer on average with constant effort whereas badminton has more frequent bursts of energy over a shorter amount of time.
@y3ll0w before you turn 19... now that's impressive. however i should point out that i'm not comparing anything but the pro level. Because lets face it... even though you were that good... you didn't have the same power as say... djokovic. so "physical strength" makes the difference in high class matches
tennis match does last longer but how many breaks are there?. every few sets they get to sit down for 2 min (commercials lol). so "constant effort" would be wrong.
@y3ll0w so I'm really not looking down on tennis at all... i like to play tennis. I'm just better at badminton.
They are different sport, requires different aspect of physicality. The footsteps are different therefore the "speed" will be define differently. Badminton is a 1-2-3 step sequence as tennis is more running.
consequently you won't see muscular (bigger than being toned) player in badminton, they just won't be fast enough. and you won't see a small asian making to high rank tennis lol
@evilgart yeah you're right on that. But "learning the footsteps" would mean that he's actually training to play badminton. that would just defeat the purpose of comparing LOL

@saiyangoku94 Tennis needs more power and offer more "show" to watch since the action is slower, only reason why it's more popular ...

Badminton must be more technical than Tennis, correct?
groovy4 2 years ago 5
yup badminton is less tiring but you have to think fast.
ngveantat 2 years ago
lol... what are you talking about.... oy... well it depends on your definition of "tiring".
1) tennis needs more strength for durations and badminton needs continuous explosive cardio
2) comparing world class matches. tennis players run WAY less, does less strokes while their match last longer.
if a tennis player were to play badminton, he won't have enough speed and cardio.
if a badminton player were to play tennis, he won't have enough strength to keep up the powerful strokes
