  • I love that Lou Reed has said in numerous interviews that this is his favorite cover by any band or artist ever.

  • I will alway love Duran Duran.

  • Ahhh, good song...reminds me of 1996 and Trainspotting. Damn good movie!

  • I don't know why people say "Thank You" is considered the worst album of DD's career... Sorry, but, as I know, "Liberty" (1990) is the one that got this 'award'. I bought the album at that time and even knowing the original versions, the disc is not horrible. I just didn't like "911 Is A Joke" and they comitted a mistake issuing "White Lines" as a single, but it doesn't turn the spark off of the album. I think people were unkind and a band like DD doesn't need to prove anything anymore.

  • pain for everyone ...

  • lovely soft version

  • The song is about Lou Reeds drug use.

  • realmente impresionante!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • And what made it that EXTRA special is that ROger Taylor was back for this one more time since 1985! ANd now he is back properly, thank goooodness for that! xoxo :-)

  • The year is 1995 and I will NEEVR forget when Is aw this on rage. I was so emotional by how beautiful this was and Nick's pink suit, frosty pink lips and make up compact just killlled me!

  • best cover ever! they are good!

  • You can't put the finger down to this song.

  • @Danythehouse The song is about Lou Reeds drug use. I did not know if you knew this. I think it's a great song. Sad but good.

  • @sonnyboy39 While the original meaning behind the track is Lou Reed's drug use, Simon Le Bon said that he sang the song as if he'd spent a day with his daughters. I think once I'd found that out, it changed the meaning of it for me. It's a beautiful cover version.

  • @NineTails20 Cool! Thank you for the info. I learn something new each day. Yes, it is a beautiful cover version. I like it better. Now, I will listen to it with my daughter in mind. Peace. ~pete

  • Lou Reed is the original artist.

  • Does anyone know when the original version of this was realeased?I can,t remember the original singers name.I think the 1997 charity cover of this is the best version.

  • 'thank you' is a really bad album, but this song is great. youve gotta lpve duran duran (im fan of all their cds, except this one and liberty)

  • @aragorn100000 Never heard the album, but if a cover is the best they could do.... and not really a good cover, interesting video though.

  • @Raymoiful but thank you is considered as the worst album ever by some websites.

duran duran were at the worst part of their career, couldn'T make up good songs after the huge success of the wedding album. so don't take this album as an example of what duran duran can do, they are my favorite band, and there's a reason for it.

  • Trainspotting :D

  • @ Dewey

peut-être que les 150 préfèrent la version de Lou Reed !!!

  • best version!!!!

  • I'm aware that Lou Reed thinks that this version is better than his but I don't think anyone could possibly do it better than Lou. Great song none the less. Thank you Lou!

  • Great vid :)

  • I LOVE THIS SONG,,,MEANS MUCH,,,,!!!!

  • well done!

    Thank you D.D

  • I love Duran's version!

  • Perfect Cover Version...much better than the original !

  • Is it possible to wear out the replay button? Haha Love this perfect song. (:

  • THANK YOU GOD.

  • This kind of sounds like something that Keane would have done for their Hopes & Fears album.

  • its just not the same without the piano solo

  • Is this the original or is Lou Reed's the original...?

  • @stansarkies lou reed make the original. are you hironic?

  • @stansarkies Lou Reed's off course. But Duran's "Perfect Day" is perfect too. :)

  • Speaking of which, who did do drums then? Did Nick do them on the keyboards or what?

  • Now how did they get Roger in the video when he wasn't in the band at the time? A bit strange, don't you think...?

  • @Duranie747 Roger joined the band again briefly for the Thank You album. He did drums on Perfect Day and Watching the Detectives :-)

  • @laladenise Ah right, thanks, I didn't know that. :)

  • ***this song reminds me of those days when I visited my ex-boyfriend in jail. I woke early and dressed very beautiful and all was happiness for me. I miss you George. See you again someday and everything will be wonderful. reap what you sow. I will love you forever.***

  • Lou Reeds version is way better, this is pretty boring!

  • @tonyiommi87 You're wrong. This version is great.

  • O bom filho a casa torna. Roger voltando a bateria, em uma canção harmoniosa.Muito bom.

  • 142 people had a horrible day :P

  • Best video this band ever made.

  • it's not perfect day 4 me

  • 142 people are allergic to the color orange.

  • @DeweyDuck420 700 000 000 or more are allegic to the truth

  • @DeweyDuck420 yeap it´s truth i love blue viagra!!!!!!!

  • This song has to have something back-masked on it-sounds weird. In any case It's the white boy Ice Cube song, "they didn't even have to use their A.K". ( See Today was a Good Day)

  • Duran Duran are Perfect.

  • a good cover, i like the fact that they tried to make it there own tune rather that just an excact copy of the original.

  • So pretty this song is.........

  • Lou Reed has said that he wishes he had originally done this song the way DD did...the best cover he has ever heard. I agree.

  • @brbgal i just watched his comments(from 1999) on their behind the music episode(and re-watched that section online so i could be accurate)he said that he thinks simon actually sings the song better than he does, and that if he could have sung it that way he would have, although it wasnt for lack of trying.. and that they had recorded it as they he had meant it, which he said was a real big thrill for him to hear. (and yeah, he said it was the best cover of a song of his ever)

  • suzi and me,.......just another perfect day.......i love her

  • THE PERFECT DURAN DURAN LINE-UP!

  • Δ. Σαββοπουλος - μέρα ομορφη : )

  • this is the perfect line-up for duran duran:

    simon le bon

    nick rhodes

    john taylor

    roger taylor

    .............and warren cuccurullo on guitar

    ¿do you agree?

  • @aitken1971 Definitivamente SI!

  • @aitken1971 It's about time Duran fans stopped this stupid argument. Let it go.

  • @aitken1971 FUCK WARREN! THE IDEA OF WARREN PLACING HIS SEMEN-COVERED HANDS ON POOR, INNOCENT ROGER SICKENS ME

  • @newfuckingwave i agree...i LOVE duran duran, but did not like looking at warren. glad he's gone.

  • @shannybearc there is strength in numbers

  • @aitken1971 The perfect line-up for Duran Duran?... I am not sure, but it would certainly include Simon Le Bon and John Taylor... But would you know: is your proposed line-up that what they had for the album "Rio"?

  • @aitken1971 i actually prefer dom brown on guitar

  • Wow. Hats off to the duran boys. That's a talent. You have to try really hard to fuck up a song like this so badly. Outstanding work !!!

  • O CLIPE É PERFEITO, A MÚSICA DEIXOU A DESEJAR UM POUCO...

  • This is a very beautiful song sang by them but, I think Susan Boyle sings it better and more alive

  • @WesleyCorrea100 baha susan boyle

  • @podiumguy100 :P they sound boring

  • This is so beautiful . . .

  • Listen to Miles Away by Kaz Piech

  • the perfect day will be when lady gaga dies

  • Spending a day with Simon....having a romantic picnic....I could not ask for more!

  • Such a relaxing song.

  • Best line of this band ever had is in this video. Simon, Nick, John, Roger AND Warren. I still miss you Warren.

  • It is just a good song. :)

  • This is the song I sang to my son the day I brought him home from the hospital 4 years ago...I still consider any day spent with him to be perfect, BTW

  • @Cynthia35T :) That's what's needed: LOVE! I wish you both the best! :)

  • Simon and the boys PERFECT performance of this song eclipse whatever the original meaning was. In fact, after Duran Duran covered this tune, everybody else including Lou Reed imitate how Dx2 performed it!

  • it's obviously about the end of their relationship...hence, "you're gonna reap just what you sow..." Not heroin...Love is a drug!

  • Should have been one of their greatest hits!

  • But why the padded room with the listless attitude and slightly crazy look in his eyes?

  • Roger looks great....

  • O and I love Nick!!!!!!

  • Kinda weird but I like it.

  • good song, better on drugs, just saying. I don't get why people preach on here when no one really cares.

  • a great cover! have a soft spot for the singer!;-) luv u Charley!

  • 128 ppl are not having a perfect day.

  • это классика!

  • Lou Reed said he liked this version the best.

  • The worst version ever and THE worst video ever made. yuck.

  • @kukunu You´re just one ugly motherfucker with bad taste :)

  • same song sung by susan boyle. an inspiration ? or a tribute ?

  • Being a fan of the Iggy, Lou, and David club, I never even considered listening to Duran stuff. Who would have 'thunk'!!!! The version of Femme Fatales blew me away, and now this...

I feel silly looking at Durans videos, but, maybe there is something to this?! Gonna check it out some more! :)

  • @MichaelinSF Try out some more Duran Duran. I too love Iggy, Lou and David and so do Duran Duran. You can see the influence of these artists in much of their music. You're right about their version of Femme Fatale. I love Nico's vocals, but Duran Duran's version is almost better than the original.

  • Susan Boyle's version is better.......more energy......and she is hotter.....I would love to stick my penis into her beautiful vag.

  • where did people get the idea from anyway that this song was about heroin?

  • Great song!!!

    Love Nick Rhodes ^^

  • This Has To Be The IDEAL Duran Duran Line Up!!!

  • @MrArpas123

    for fucks sake

  • the stuff by the 8os records was better this is just gay

  • I think it's awesome they had Roger on drums on this video! I wonder if that had sparked rumors of him rejoining the band by then since by this point it had been almost 10 years since he quit. Shame he wasn't ready to come back by this point. It would've been awesome. But anyway it was great to see him with them again here. Makes the video even better!

  • great song... i like it.

    regards from mexico.

  • the original Lou Reed's is so much better

  • @ibl96

    Lou said exctly the opposite!

  • i can see myself all coked up n chill to a song like this... though am not sure what's it about

  • watch?v=46CNp89_52Y

  • anyone else hear the pink floyd influence? or is it just me?

  • dude ? watz u mean with dat ? :)))

  • BELISSIMA CANÇÃO!!!!

  • ..."read the wiki"...tehh.

  • Just a normal whine song.. anyone could write one in a few minutes.. still good though.. but please dont be pretensious and think you 'know' what the singer was thinking about when he wrote it.......

  • krasna pisnicka

  • a perfect day would be the whole cast of jersey shore dying

  • @ymistillavirgin Hahahaha thats the greatest comment iv ever read on youtube!

  • @ymistillavirgin ha ha ha ha

  • @ymistillavirgin ..I'm sorry- but this is the best comment EVERRRR!!! hahaha..this would be the perfect background music to the death scene!

  • @ymistillavirgin ahahahahahaaha aka Herpes Shore!

  • oooo,nostalgie!!!SUPER SONG!!!

  • Hooray this used to be the signature song of "The Nasty Girly Show" on FM4

  • With respectable covers, I've always approached them as entirely different beasts than the original track. As such covers (or tributes) never try to replicate the exact sound of the original, the listener gets the privilege of interpreting the song in an entirely different fashion through the second group and their own comprehension of the piece. I would like to think that any self-respecting musician minds their creation being disseminated to new listeners via a legitimate cover.

  • The 80's Duran Duran...okay. The post 80's Duran Duran: phenomenal !!

  • The 80's Duran Duran...okay. The post 80's Duran Duran: phenomenal!!

  • Not heroine not cocaine not anything can be better from life itself....

I'm so addicted to life the best present we can ever get.. Life is best we can ever get through the pain, dissapoitments life is wonderful.... i'm in love with every second i spend in this world although we are full of idiot people!!...

  • Simon le BON IS BETTER BETTER THAN LOU REED SINGER!!!!!!

  • Lou Reeds' version is a bit better. Sorry. This version is decent though.

  • espectacular el video y la cancion! le doy 10 puntos!!

  • PERFECT COVER

  • Roger :)

  • "Lou Reed apparently prefers this version above his own"

  • "Thank You" was a lame album. But this version was the best cover on that album!

  • Good cover. I like when Im proved wrong. I love the spacey vibe.

  • A very good cover, I think. Just wondering...how could it be about heroin? I think it's just a love song. Lou was a heroin junkie, but I think he expressed that through the song 'Heroin'.

  • I truly love this version. I have listened to it all day...

  • problems are left alone....

  • So relaxing..Really, how can you dislike this?

  • Not bad when the original artist likes the cover version better than his/her own version. I do like the time lapse photography in it (limited). BTW check out my YouTube channel. I've created home made videos for "Salt In The Rainbow" and "Virus" (the HQ versions are better). I think they're pretty good. Tell me what y'all think.

  • @MrButtfist pink floyd is much better too

  • Listen to the new Duran Duran's - Leave A Light On

  • "Such a perfect song, you just keep me holding on.."

  • Duran Duran: The 1,000 hit wonder

  • HaHa you had to type MrButtfist to say that to me.

  • @amioran Dont be a stuffy art chick all your life. Try and see beyond lyrical structure and enjoy the the god-damned song for what it is. Subtext and interpretaion are for the un-formed, young persons, mental, amblings. Oh and by the way, saying "clearly" down your nose at people dosent make you sound smart. ( or right) Im sad for you. You can go now.

  • No, because the song was used in a movie about heroin (Trainspotting) it MUST be about heroin too.

  • i love their version !!! Great !!!

    Thanks for posting!! :)

  • Good version! I love it!

  • I keep hearing people say that this song is about heroin. I guess thats what you get from a generation that never picked up a book and learned everything it knows from watching tv. This song is just what it sounds like,a love song. It was written about Bettye Kronstadt, Lous first wife.

  • @MrButtfist is that true? i always heard that, like you said, it was about heroin? not that i dont believe you but where did you get the information? i want to find out for myself.

  • @MrButtfist Lou is a lifelong heroin addict, so everything he does is related to heroin in some way.

  • @MrButtfist good point.. i reckon people think this is about heroin probably because it was used in the soundtrack for 'Trainspotting'.. brilliant tune though DD forever!

  • @MrButtfist actually this song is about an OD

  • @digitaIIive No its not.

  • @MrButtfist yes, it is. read the wiki "commentators have further seen the lyrical subtext as displaying Reed's romanticized attitude towards a period of his own addiction to heroin." also, its a song. so you can, ya know, take it to mean whatever you think it means. til we get Lou Reed to weigh in on some dumb youtube shit, thats about all you get. a song can mean one thing to me and something else completely to you, which we can further conclude to me your wrong and to you i'm wrong.

  • @digitaIIive The song is about a specific person. You are wrong. You can go now.

  • @MrButtfist OK where in the song does is mention a specific person? i hear references to all kinds of shit. none of a specific person. again - ITS A SONG. open to interpretation. there's no right or wrong interpretation. And again, let's go ahead and call Lou Reed and ask him. Oh what, HE DOESN'T GIVE A SHIT. Why do you care so much about what I think a song is about? get a fucking life

  • @digitaIIive Sadness for you. Read a book. Oh and let that pipe cool off.

  • @MrButtfist again, get a fucking life and stop caring so much about what i think. currently reading WSB's "nova express." surprised? let the stick dry - its pretty bloody having been carried around in your tightwad ass all day. lighten up, sugartits.

  • @digitaIIive Pretentious, beatnick, wannabe, hipster, please do all of the following. 1 Shave off that pencil thin chinstrap beard. 2 Pop the plugs out of your loabs. 3 Get a long sleeve shirt to cover that nifty new Han Solo tattoo, 4 Get a job. 5 Go away.

  • @MrButtfist hahaha hipster, thats a good one. them fucks are taking over pittsburgh. beyond annoying. anyway, 1) my beards plenty full fwiw 3) i have no tattoos 4) last week i worked 70 hrs 5) fuck off you old-ass clown. its pretty fucking pathetic to sit on a goddamn song and blast any and everyone who disagrees witih you. take ur ambian or whatever the fuck and go to sleep, you crusty old asshole.

  • @digitaIIive I love you dude.

  • @MrButtfist What a response! Bravo, bravo! :D

  • @MrButtfist the reason most people think that this is about heroin because it's one of the songs in Trainspotting soundtrack. They got carried away by the scene I guess

  • @MrButtfist Then how come in an interview Lou said it was a song about someone who's having the exact opposite of a Perfect Day?

  • @MrButtfist that's because of trainspotting

  • @MrButtfist i dont think a man who drink sangria in tha park is happy and in love...

  • @MrButtfist

One issue...it was written by a bona fida speed freak junkie mess, Lou Reed. The idea that he might be inclined to write a song about heroin, a drug that he and Bettye where BIG fans of, isn't exactly out of the realm of possibility.

  • @MrButtfist

    I totally agree.

  • @MrButtfist These lyrics can easily be compared to a Heroin habit. The original artist is said to have wrote this about H, and as an ex junkie I know why this maybe true (nothing to do with trainspotting).

But for you to take it as a song of
