here are some real characteristics that makes anakin a good guy sometimes in episode 2, when he rescues 3 times one rescued from gundarks, saving obi wan from falling, and rescuing from the clutches of count dooku. uses force push to tell the customers drinking alcohol is bad, praises obi wan to be great as mace and yoda, telling padme that compassion is the better way to love.

the precuels should have being like knigths of the old republic, awesome dark and deep story, epic characters and battles and good quality romance that actualy fits with all the atmosphere arround the story.

Sure, compared to the originals this is still shit, but ROTS had NO OPTION but to follow the horrible story from Phantom and Clones, given the material it had, I believe they gave us a fair and plausible ending to the prequel trilogy.

What's funny is, for every complaint that the prequels never make it clear what a Sith is, there should be two complaints that the prequels never make it clear what a JEDI is, or why we should like them! Not once in the prequels did I ever like these soulless pricks or understand why I'm supposed to be rooting for their actions (other than we were told they were the good guys). This was never an issue with the original trilogy; it wasn't difficult to feel emotions while watching those movies.

The audience was being force fed (pun intended) a bunch of horsecrap that included Midi-chlorians, Gungans and the worst reason in the universe for starting a war, tax disputes. If Lucas was going to just do a series based on CGI he should have created CGI faces for Luke Han and Leia to look young and just used Timothy Zahns Heir to the Empire trilogy. At least Zahn could write SW characters which is more than Lucas can say these days.

Liam Neeson's death tragic? Did you find the Clones romance romantic? Did you feel anything for anyone in the prequels? If you're like most people, the answer would be no. Keep in mind that people *loved* the characters in the originals. The prequels failed on the most basic story levels.

What young people who like the prequels (and apparently have nothing of quality to compare to in their minds) don't seem to realize was that the prequels failed on the most absolute fundamental levels of storytelling. We were given NO reason to care about any of the characters or relate to any motives. We were told that we were supposed to root for certain people because they were good guys, yet we felt nothing for them. They ruined a world that people genuinely loved.

I feel with the prequels have such a bad wrap that people just make it bigger by joining the bandwagon and can't form their own opinions. I actually praise CM review of this movie and other movies like The Lion King because he forms his own opinion, not what critics.

I played video games too, and I suspect that sonic games for you were just silly diversions to pass the time, like the Mario Bros gamew were for me. That is not at all the same as truly loving something. The prequels are a direct continuation of the SW story. You might as well say that you love the original Kettle brand potato chips but don't care for their BBQ flavor. It would be just a silly a comparison to the SW situation.
I'll give you a comparison that makes sense to me, although it only backs up my argument. I loved Stephen King's Dark Tower book series. It took him decades to complete, 7 books total. I thought the last few books were heartbreakingly awful, actually nullifying the entire "quest" and yes, it DOES kind of ruin the entire world/story he created and the magic effect it had on me (and hence, the gratification and stimulation it used to provide my imagination). Becuase it's all part of one story.
@WastedPo, all part of one epic tale he was weaving (actually it was more than the 7 books, because most of the books he'd written in general also tied into the universe he was creativing). But because the last few books (for me) pissed all over the tale, it was heartbreaking. The Sonic games aren't interested in moving you, sweeping you away or telling a linear story over the course of several games. They're all just one-off silly diversions.
To say that SW fans can simply "ignore" the prequels is almost akin to saying that people shoudn't be bothered if half a great novel is written awfully in a way that nullifies the good parts, and that they can just ignore the sections of the story that are written terribly and focus on the good sentences.

I think I figured out this passionate and absolutist defense of the prequels and this movie: they are loyalty to this new Star Wars world (movies, video games books)& it's being attacked. They are fanboys, and there is nothing wrong with being a fanboy. Being passionate about nerdy and dorky things is not bad. But fanboys feel the need to defend this so much. I think if they spent little time defending and took a moment to step back, they'd see how really, really awful this and these films are.
Well the whole Anakin being a total contradictory prick on Mustafar thing, is kind of the whole point - its the cue for the audience to realise, oh wait, being on the dark side is actually being messed in the head and power crazed, paranoid, deluded and evil. The whole madness of Anakins ranting, was to show the audience exactly how much of a prick the dark side makes an otherwise better person (though he'd still be a whiny bitch, yes, but at least hes showing REMORSE in Ep II for killing kids)
Just watched RotS again and wow, it really is bad. What I find disappointing is how little George Lucas seems to care about movies that are basically half his legacy. From what I remember of his interview with 60 minutes, they spent 10 weeks on an action sequence that is 2 seconds in the movie. The part where the wookies jump a droid speed boat. Imagine how much they could have improved the script in every scene if they had just omitted that 2 seconds. Obviously he made this for the effects.
Lucas clearly just wanted to get the scripts out of the way. So he can make all that money on merchandising. That's the only conclusion I can come up with. George Lucas is smart guy. If he cared he would have thought about what went into these shity movies more.

I still believe Revenge of the Sith was not as bad as it was presented in this review.
Sure, compared to the originals this is still shit, but ROTS had NO OPTION but to follow the horrible story from Phantom and Clones, given the material it had, I believe they gave us a fair and plausible ending to the prequel trilogy.

What's funny is, for every complaint that the prequels never make it clear what a Sith is, there should be two complaints that the prequels never make it clear what a JEDI is, or why we should like them! Not once in the prequels did I ever like these soulless pricks or understand why I'm supposed to be rooting for their actions (other than we were told they were the good guys). This was never an issue with the original trilogy; it wasn't difficult to feel emotions while watching those movies.

The audience was being force fed (pun intended) a bunch of horsecrap that included Midi-chlorians, Gungans and the worst reason in the universe for starting a war, tax disputes. If Lucas was going to just do a series based on CGI he should have created CGI faces for Luke Han and Leia to look young and just used Timothy Zahns Heir to the Empire trilogy. At least Zahn could write SW characters which is more than Lucas can say these days.

anakin choked padme because he felt betrayed and is not of stable mind and the multiple examples for why he became a sith showed that he was brainwashed by the emperor and doesn't know himself why he has done these things. Tusken raiders are not the same as human beings plus he was prevoked. Yes the killing sand people children was a bit much but the younglings were unarmed and of the same species.

Wouldn't it have made more sense if Anakin actually DID kill her? Like, maybe his force choke damaged her internally or something, and unintentionally fatally wounding her. She could hang on for dear life until she had birthed her children, saw that they were safe, and then succumbed to her injuries. The other reason -that she lost the will to live- is just plain selfish. Padme, you now have two innocent and sweet babies to look after. They aren't worth living for!!!?

What young people who like the prequels (and apparently have nothing of quality to compare to in their minds) don't seem to realize was that the prequels failed on the most absolute fundamental levels of storytelling. We were given NO reason to care about any of the characters or relate to any motives. We were told that we were supposed to root for certain people because they were good guys, yet we felt nothing for them. They ruined a world that people genuinely loved.

I played video games too, and I suspect that sonic games for you were just silly diversions to pass the time, like the Mario Bros gamew were for me. That is not at all the same as truly loving something. The prequels are a direct continuation of the SW story. I'll give you a comparison that makes sense to me, although it only backs up my argument. I loved Stephen King's Dark Tower book series. It took him decades to complete, 7 books total. I thought the last few books were heartbreakingly awful, actually nullifying the entire "quest" and yes, it DOES kind of ruin the entire world/story he created and the magic effect it had on me (and hence, the gratification and stimulation it used to provide my imagination). Becuase it's all part of one story.

@WastedPo, all part of one epic tale he was weaving (actually it was more than the 7 books, because most of the books he'd written in general also tied into the universe he was creativing). But because the last few books (for me) pissed all over the tale, it was heartbreaking. The Sonic games aren't interested in moving you, sweeping you away or telling a linear story over the course of several games. They're all just one-off silly diversions.

Well the whole Anakin being a total contradictory prick on Mustafar thing, is kind of the whole point - its the cue for the audience to realise, oh wait, being on the dark side is actually being messed in the head and power crazed, paranoid, deluded and evil. Just watched RotS again and wow, it really is bad. What I find disappointing is how little George Lucas seems to care about movies that are basically half his legacy. From what I remember of his interview with 60 minutes, they spent 10 weeks on an action sequence that is 2 seconds in the movie. The part where the wookies jump a droid speed boat. Imagine how much they could have improved the script in every scene if they had just omitted that 2 seconds. Obviously he made this for the effects.

The answer - absolutely not!
As movies in and of themselves all you have to do to understand why they are so horrible - compare them to ANY movie EVER made and see how they fare when it comes to character development, direction, story ect ect ect.
And once again they fail big time because they are bad movies!

@auritone dude believe it or not, ive seen films 10 times worse than the prequel trilogy, ive even seen sequels more annoying and unneeded than the prequel trilogy, but at the end of the day, all of this is subjective

@theXramoneXpistolsXP Actually, I love bad movies. :)
I can live with the fact that the prequels aren't as good as the first ones, but here they destroy the entire backstory. Futhermore we've got incoherent plots, scitzophrenic and detached characters, dialogue so stifled and contrived you can actually see the actors struggling, direction so monotone you fall asleep ect. - Michael Bay couldn't have fucked it up this badly.
Of course it's subjective - doesn't mean you can't argue your case. :)

@auritone actually i was saying there were worse films out there because you stated " compare them to ANY movie EVER made and see how they fare when it comes to character development, direction, story ect ect ect." i thought the direction was good at times, the development sucked true and the story to me, was just ok, but what i couldnt stand was the fucking dialogue, there were times i found it acceptable, but it most of it was just shit! despite this is enjoy them, not the best, theyre just ok
