I DON.T CARE WHAT FORM OF DANCING IT IS , ALL I KNOW THAT THEY ARE AWESOME AND DO A VERY GOOD JOB AT IT , SO JUST ENJOY THE VID,, THANKS ,, LEAHY IS ONE HELL OF A BAND. AND THE SISTERS ARE INDEED HOT ,,,,,,,,
@kateca85 Leahy says their style is a combination of French-Canadian, Scottish (Cape Breton step dancing came from the oldest form of Scottish) and Irish. A lot of crossover ;)
On their message board, they say their style is a combination of Scottish, Irish and French Canadian stepdancing, so I stand corrected that it's not Cape Breton per se.
@morigue I learn step dancing weekly from Chrissy Quigley- one of the Leahys. And knowing both Donnell and Natalie quite well I can say without a doubt that the style is French-Canadian. Regardless- can we just appreciate the talent involved nonetheless?
I think i need to address a few things as a formerly competative Irish Dancer. First off this is not Irish at all. This style is called French-Canadian Stepdancing and developed on its own in the lumber camps of Quebec. While the style may look Irish, it developed fully right here in Canada.
Ya like who said it was Irish dancing, Check Out Sean Nos Dancing, this is the correct and oldest form of dance from ireland, irish dancing Developed from sean nos. you will see that what is danced here and sean nos is alike........
I wouldn't use the word 'correct', there is no 'correct' form of irish dance, just DIFFERENT forms. That's like saying tap dancing and clogging are the same, but irish step dance is the 'correct' form, just because the two former are inspired by the latter. And what about set dancing? I noticed that's your name on here, which would be the 'correct' form of dance from Ireland, set dancing or sean nos? Again, don't use the word 'correct'. Enough said.
Great solo tap. The group dancing step is an elaborated version of the Clare batter which people do all over Ireland, without taps and which should traditionally be done close to the floor in a light but hammring style. Ye cutties wud make a fair impression on any sets floor! Come on yez girls! Excellent stuff.
Never get tired of watching the Leahy family!!

What's the groove the violins are doing? Does anyone have sheet for one or two bars of this rhythm (violin grooves)?

i have a dumb question... why do most all drummers grimmace at some point in their playing??
NatureLover987 2 years ago
It's hard work.
KnifeNut88 2 years ago
It's the concentration face - almost all musicians (and drummers) have one.

It's talent like this that makes me wish i was able to sign up for their music camp. If anything, i'm going to wait untill i go through collage.
I want to learn to play the violin and now tap. Tap classes around my town have poor selection of dances. DX
