  • They should play this LOUD at the polls tomorrow in Detroit when they vote for their candidates!

  • EPIC!!!!!!!!!!

  • Friend: If he's not still popular today then that means he's not very good

Me: He is still popular and you don't even have to be talented to be rich and famous

Friend: That doesn't even make sense

    Me: Explain Justin Beiber?

    Friend:..........point taken

  • Love the production on this one: raw, crunchy and right up front.

  • Can anyone tell me if he has played this song in Detroit. I here will not play it due to the Panic it may cause in Detroit....maybe add to the panic in Detroit.

  • They are rioting in the streets of Athens!

  • Bowies stepping on the Diddleyland. Great song!

  • who out there agrees with me/

    mattleveillee@yahoo.com

  • I used to play drums, but after listening to the guitars in this song,I may have to change instruments, the rythem and leads are awsome!

  • The best music of David. Really good!

  • maybe the best rock song ever recorded...anyone whose heart rate doesn't speed up while hearing this can be declared legally brain dead (pull the plug)

  • @brandyyoda Yep!

  • @brandyyoda

If you like this I strongly recommend listening to "Lad in Vain".

  • 17 years old, painted my face, mom freaked

  • Mick Ronson, guitar genius and master of arrangement. Just listen to that ending chaos created by guitar and backing vocals. I always feel exhausted after listening to Bowie songs from this era. They are so intensive, never "just songs".

  • @MysticKaraoke YEAH!!!

  • wicked bass and rythmn section...pounding and demanding more volume.!!!!

  • @kiwimale1 That's right!!!

  • This is a awesome tune. I never caught on to Bowie until I was in my 20's. I missed quite a bit growing up with not listening to more from this master!!!

  • 101 Skateboards anyone?

Rock on!!!!!

  • Upperclass fucking Genius !!

  • FOCKEN TWENTIE TWELVE AND BOWIE IS STILL AMAZE

  • and this is why im a proud Detroiter

  • @mustache888 What was it that hit Detroit... except panic? :-)

  • Ziggy was after all A lad insane ...fantastic stuff ......damn..it's all good stuff !!!!

  • @kiwimale1 you know all these years I never knew or figured that out. I will now move forward and act as if I knew all along. Shush.

  • Love the drums in this song, WHO the hell cares if hes gay, Likes great music , thats what matters

  • I aint gay. But. I would sleep with david :)

  • @sixstringfender Yuck, your are gay! Come out of the closet faggo. vp

  • The only survivor ofthe National People's gang. Let me collect dust. I jumped the silent cars that slept at traffic lights. I wish someone would phone. The gun and me alone.

  • This album is just GREAT !!!

  • MICHAEL RONSON

  • One of my favorite Bowie songs - rocks and I dance in the car Listent to 107.3 in CLeveland - plays this..

  • I bought Diamond Dogs in 1974. That was my introduction. Bought every thing he put out before Diamond Dogs and after. I've listened to alot of great music since then but almost 40 years later keep coming back to David Bowie. Truly the greatest of his generation.

  • @annd10001 so did I ! well, an 8 track. without sounding 'gooey', that album changed my life. Long live Diamond Dogs ! :...meet his little hussy with her crosstown approach--her face is sans features But She Wears a DAHLI Broach...i love that line!

  • @annd10001 My turning track was the Unwashed but slightly dazed from the man of words.. album. After that Bowie of 70s has been such a major thing in my music.

  • Best David Bowie song, in my opinion....

  • FRUYI5DNBKJORIKIBYGSNBJTI6HWJHBJ96

  • BOWIE has re-invented himself over and over....truly a master at marketing product....and he interviews great...check out some of his interviews...

    HOWIE

  • @southernbrooklyngal I am not looking for a pat on the back but if they were listen his music Bowie would be famous in my counrty Greece no one knows who David Bowie is. I am not looking for a pat on the back seriously.

  • @antzelakalentini The thing is, Bowie is famous in any country. A lot of people listen to his music, so you shouldn't feel like an outcast just because people in your immediate vicinity don't know who Bowie is. Big deal.

  • @antzelakalentini i suspect that a lot of people in greece know who david bowie is lol.... if he held a show there now i'm sure there would be a lot interest

  • GGB

  • damn im coked

  • Amen, indeed. The sheer number of incredible songs he produced in say, five years? From '70 to '75? It's mind boggling. Aladdin Sane is unreal all by itself. Why some people don't get it when it comes to Bowie is beyond me. I suspect it's because they have never heard many of his albums, or if they did, they weren't listening very well. I go back to them over and over, I'm never going to get tired of them. I'm also mystified as to why more bands haven't covered this song, as it rocks .

  • @slurm33 I totally agree with the 5 year output and like you keep coming back time and again as this man and his music was a huge part of my early life. Maybe others do not cover it because they dare not too, nobody could improve on this track or Album.

  • @slurm33 Been preachin' that same tune for years and years. Bravo to you!

  • Respond to this video... How can you measure this guy's talent?

  • FUCK CLASSIC....TAKE THAT TO THE BANK.......

  • Super fun to play guitar too

  • panic detroit, i asked for an autograph, oh my youth................. well who can turn 40yrs

  • Ronson is downright polarizing on his delivery of the 3 chord guitar part, while Anysley mofo Dunbar rips off some awesome percussion that drives this classic!

  • Wicked Track!!!

  • I remember as a 11 year old kid mouthing the guitar riff to this song before I knew who did it. From the radio it just worked itself into your head.

  • @MrWhitneytraylor If I remember those halcyon days correctly (and who can any more!) I believe it was meant to be a large tear....anyone?

  • Maybe a masterpiece. When David used to write good and fab songs. The Guitar arrangement made by Ronno is simply spectacular. Ah, God bless rock and roll.

  • @Perfidia4ever thsi stuff never does get old does it?

  • The production and arrangement on this recording are amazing.

  • women are evil !! will you stop stealing our david bowie photos and throwing our merilyn manson posters into the middle of a 4 lane blvd !! jees!!

  • best party song ever recorded...maybe best rock song ever recorded

  • @brandyyoda yah, i can see that, but what about 'gene geenie' by bowie? or 'hot tramp on the 'diamond dogs' album? or what about the band "sweet " ball room blitz? yah, ok, panic in detroit !!

  • does asian script make life more romantic ...?

  • @PoppySandals if you find out, would you tell me? you've got me curious too now...

  • One of My favorite guitar riffs.Rest in Peace Rick

  • I dont care that Bowie and Jagger fonocred eachother. He still rocks

  • @zep1234569 I doubt if they did, I don't think Bowie is even bi, his ex Angie is and I think she used that for him for publicity

  • I'm watching my classmates with hip hop and rap and I feel sorry about them because they don't undrestand Bowie and Idon't like that why not Bowie?

  • @antzelakalentini thats their choice! stop looking for a pat on the back for listening to bowie! enjoy the music.....

  • @antzelakalentini WHO CARES?!?!

  • @antzelakalentini Some of us like all of it. Whats wrong with that?

  • "I screamed and smashed my favorite slot machine and jumped the silent cars that slept at traffic lights". Great writing.

  • @wpollock1 yah, but if you think that's great, go listen to the diamond dogs album and come back and tell me what you think. " fleas the size of rats, sucked on rats the size of cats, and 10,000 peoploids ..... THIS AINT ROCK AND ROLL, THIS IS GENOCIDE!!! that's bowie for you.....

  • This will really date me, but Panic in Detriot, the Frazer Smith show intro on KROQ in LA on Friday night in the late 1970s, was my decompression. Well, that and a couple of bowls...

  • @kdiabloj1 and dated you are! in 1977 i was listening to K CAL out of los angles. and didnt hear KROC till the late 80s with sweedish eagle, jed the fish, rodney on the rock, and all they played was depeche mode and everything else that nobody else played. then, in the late '90s sweedish eagle formed 'groove radio' at 103.1 and all the played was everything we wouldn't even hear for another 4 years here in america. i.e. 'future sound of london' and it was the greatest station i've ever heard!!!

  • @kdiabloj1 I remember the song and show well. KROQ in the late 70's was so inventive. I even have a tape somewhere of a Frazier Smith show from the late 80's. Mr. Sincere was my favorite. And as he would always say "I'm pretty sure I mean that".

  • @kdiabloj1 Twix or Raison Bran?

  • @kdiabloj1 I just started listening to Bowie a lot (again!) and this song reminds me of some great times listening to Frazier's show every time I listen. Hangin out in Sierra Madre....the best!

  • First time I saw Bowie in concert was his Diamond Dog tour. Wowie! What a show. I think it was the following year, saw the Station to Station tour, not nearly as good, but great nonetheless. Oh the 70's. Concerts were so affordable and there were so many great ones.

  • He, (David Bowie) would think I was a KOOK if he read this, but he was the man that helped keep me alive during my adolescence in the early 70's. Nobody really dug Bowie all that much in my town in NJ (NYC area). Elton was the biggie and I was the outcast fag for digging David. Ain't it something how things change.

BOWIE still keeps me going strong.

Thank you David for all of your works.

I'll keep hangin' as long as you keep puttin' (out). Love on ya

  • Bowie was best in hunky dory. Ziggy stardust. Aladdin sane and low

  • che gavera!!,,,national peoples front!!

  • This is by far his best song none of my friends no who he is im only 14 this is music this is the best !!!!!!!

  • CHOWWWW !!!! Damn great song. The 70's is what's all about.

  • Song kicks ass!

  • Music doesn't get any better than this. Bowie was best as Ziggy Stardust. Panic in Detroit is as good music as one will ever hear, talk about being entertaining, a good singer doing a beautiful non boring song, fast moving that I like to listen to over and over. This is music that will never put you to sleep.

  • I guess I'm lucky, being from Detroit, it got steady FM radio airplay. One of his very best for sure!

  • Still the best opening line of a glam rock song ever.

"He looked a lot like Che Guevara..." Ha. The real underlying issue for the Kennedy brothers encapsulated by David Bowie.

  • there would be no f'n lady gaga if there was no bowie

  • GLITTER PEOPLE HOLLYWOOD CALIFORNIA CIRCA1974

  • I absolutely love the words, the drums, and the guitars to this song. David Bowie has been my favorite artist since I was 9, and he will remain so probably for the rest of my life. :]

  • Absolutely stonelove919 - I agree 100%. I remember the music that was already out there (mainstream, I mean) and music like this saved the 70's in my opinion. he is one of the few to get popular recognition, but also be a true inspiration to the underground scene as well.

  • wow

  • Oh no no no, I have to agree, best song hands down. And yes there are many. But this song "a classic" never got any air play. It was left up to your imagination of how the song went. Being you might of only heard it 2-3 times out of 15 years on a College Station. His remake of this is just as good. You can find it on the Ashes to Ashes CD as an extra. Check it out. Thank you You Tube

  • Lol, I wouldn't say this is his best song (too many to choose :P) but it's a grower, I'll give you that.

  • yes world... im a bowie fan!!

  • let me collect dust

  • @paintdis423 what???????????

  • the national peoples camp

  • What am i missing out on ?

  • @vendetti420 on life kind ser

  • Man, I'm moving in my seat again. Absolutely the best song he ever did. Simply love dancing to this song. I wish someone would phone. The words are phenomenal. Love the drums in the middle. That's where you shake your booty. Yeah. Thanks so much for posting. The playing is also so phenomenal in this.

  • bowie cant do this song justice live. Its his best song. a must listen

  • true dat

  • I've been a HUGE Bowie fan since 1970 and Aladdin Sane is my fave.............

I actually feel sorry for people who don't

    "get" Bowie.

David Bowie is the musical genius and talent in an individual that the Beatles were as a group.

    Amen

  • Alladin Sane ... is one of the best records ever... glad its not just me that thinks so...

  • @paintdis423 you are right but i prefer the sound of scary monsters, hunky dory, diamond dogd but aladdin sane is my 5th fav out of my cd's next up i need to get lodgers i am avoiding heroes it is overated and the song bugs me to much whine dont hammer me if you like i am stating that i am not a big fan of that song but i will listen to it occasionaly

  • @EbolaReston12 : and what about the Heroes album as a whole? I mean Heroes isn't the only song on it. Just try out "The Beauty and the Beast", "Joe the Lion" and "Blackout" (It contains the line "I'm in a Japanese mood and my honour's at stake" - doesn't that single line of Bowie reverberate with more spirit than the whole "work" of other so-called artists, simply love the man; the genius of a whole century crammed into one person, Bowie rules!!!!!! Anyway, get the Lodger album, it's brilliant!

  • @RedSails79 i say i am a fan of scary monsters heroes was good in some regards but lodgers sounds better and low was one of his worst

  • @EbolaReston12 Boooooooo Ebola! Low is the hottest!

  • @jrmetmoi Low was to electronic in my opinion i like hearing him sing not some machine

  • u know ur right :)

  • @stonelove919 i get him ive always got him he is a great talent that has quality musicians on his albums

  • @stonelove919 I so hear you.

  • @stonelove919 i agree with u 100% but, im 17 and i get him thanks to my dad. thats all i listened to since i was a infant basically. he is a genius

  • @stonelove919 I'm not quite as old as you LOL ,I'm vintage 1969 BUT this was the first album I ever bought

  • @stonelove919 the diamond dogs album is my favorite!

  • @m1kewithaone it is fantastic.......I saw a show during the Diamond Dogs tour............it was incredible........

  • @stonelove919 well do you remember it? can you give us any of the details? come on, i'll give you details of the alice cooper killer concert i went to...

  • @stonelove919 Me too, I was a huge Bowie fan esp in the 70s, he was the guy to look to with every new album to see what he looked like this time and how his music had changed. I can't think of any artist who changed his image as much as Bowie. A lot of people were obsessed back then.........with him.

  • @stonelove919 true yet we cannot under-estimate the value Tony Visconti brought to this era of Bowie productions in particular

  • Bowie & some of his best. X-cellent !!!!!!

  • Alladin Sane. Right after Ziggy. Two of Bowie's best.

  • nah scary monsters best David album and one of rocks best albums

  • @chinasherry1961 yea followed by hunky dory

  • i would

  • i have that poster in my room :)

  • I need that poster

  • true

  • @yurksemesh Me too oO

  • @yurksemesh i had a poster of merilyn manson that i loved but my other x girlfriend through it out into the middle of eagle rock blvd. i don't have it anymore....

  • =D nice

  • @aimzie2007 - if I had that poster I doubt I'd ever leave my room

  • @CameFromOuterSpace I DID ! honest! Also, went ot for Halloween a Alladin, and as Bowie on the Midnight Special. ( Kinda like pin-ups album cover photo.

  • @aimzie2007 damn it aimzie how did you get it?? oh, i'm not saying 'damn it' to you, i just remembered my x girlfriend stole my photographs of david bowie and it pisses me off.

  • @aimzie2007

GOD has that poster in his room.

  • @aimzie2007 My t-shirt

  • @aimzie2007 me too :)

  • @aimzie2007 i had a merilyn manson poster. it scared my girlfriend so much that she threw it out into the middle of eagle rock blvd, in eagle rock ca, and i had to run out and grab it before it got run over too many times!! i had it in a frame too! well, it still looked good even with the tire track going across it, and now, i don't have that girlfriend! : )

  • @aimzie2007

GOD has that poster is his room...

  • @aimzie2007 where did u get that poster??? i want one!!!!

  • what a great riff to this song.

You rarely heard it on FM radio the last 15 years, I guess it didn't make it through the focus groups.

  • Bowie is just damn fine easy listening, just like the Beatles love the expermentation of music
