  • Great photography WIS - I didn't know the Liffey had such abundant wildlife - it was in need of a clean when I last stayed in that fair city :-)

  • thank you for this wonderful video

  • thats amazing footage my friend just goes to show what the world has to shock us with next

  • @taylormade650 Thank you very much.

  • I love nature, no mercy, no remorse.

  • I don't appreciate the Heron's way of torturing its prey. I believe all heron's must be slaughtered or otherwise kept in captivity.

  • @dodocar1921 :

believe me: you're an idiot... people like you should be kept in captivity instead of free and innocent animals... human stupidity, like that you're showing, is dangerous for the world and the future of humanity.

  • those herons sure know how to kill their prays painfully slow!

  • incredible ninja heron

  • NOOO it was almost free !!

  • That's a nasty way to go..

  • Heron's eat rats? I did not know that.

  • @marius666 They eat absolutely anything they can catch and get down the hatch

  • Down the Hatch at 7:40

  • I dont see how the Heron has a grip on the rat's body. What is he holding on to? And his grip changes too. It looks more like the rat is an idiot and clinging to the heron's face.

  • @jjj7790 Quite the opposite, The Rat is clinging on to the of the Heron beak in order to keep it closed because the Rat knows that as soon as the beak is open (as you saw) he will be swallowed whole. Can't help but feel sorry for the Rat after such a brave and prolonged struggle. I think in the end, it was just too exhausted to fight :-(.

  • @ricchardo

Wow in that case there was really nothing he could go except hold on until he gets tired and dies. If I was the rat I would at least try to jump off and get swept away by the current.

  • @jjj7790...the rat is desperate to escape. its not stupid..hes 'clinging' to the heron's beak? oh c'mon...the predator got a good grip on its prey right arm thats the reasons why that rat look like clinging...while in fact, its tries to chew or bite the beak of the heron hoping to escabe..try stepping the rat's tail(if u caught one) it will do(the bite) the same....

  • @jjj7790 look closely...the heron holding the left arm of its meal.

  • who ever like seeing small animals die from a bigger animal and say its nature well i hope in ur after life u were that animal and suffer more death

  • @HansonPham1235 stfu, why are you even here in the first place?

  • @xfxazknight i hope in ur afterlife ur gonna get eatin by the heron and F u so hard up ur A

  • @HansonPham1235 Lol by saying that, you just contradict your first comment.... make up your mind already.

  • @HansonPham1235 well said. moron.

  • I like to slowly break my prey's arms and then dip it in some stream water before eating it.

  • excellent. thats what the natural world is all about. loved watching.

  • Woow cery interesting!

  • in 6:36 it would have sucked if he druped it

  • WoW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! totally amazing

  • NATURE IS JUST INCREDIBLE!!!!!

  • such an amazing creature God made. Good video!

  • @RageOfTheTiger such an amazing creature EVOLUTION made.

  • @Zyxxs if evolution exists, God set it in motion.

  • i'm suprised, that if the rat was still alive at the time when the heron swallows the rat, that the rat doesnt knore and chew its way out of the herons neck or stomach?

  • @PushingUpTheAnte

People always say that about animals that swallow their food whole. Think about how you would escape if you were being crushed in a giant tube without air, surrounded by powerful muscles, then falling into a pool of acid and digestive enzymes?

  • @jjj7790 true!. I just got the impression that rats could pretty much chew through most things, suppose i never looked at it from your point of view. Its weird how certain animals adapt to certain situations, like the mongoose & cobra, you'd have never thought that the mongoose would have any chance against something as quick and as venomous as the cobra?!

  • GREAT VIDEO

  • The Rat did a dance of death @7:04...rest in peace Ben

  • watch= HITLER HATES ohio state.

  • amazing video ... poor wee rat ...

  • Wow amazing

  • You film some of the neatest shots of nature in action!

  • I wonder if the heron can feel the rat squirming in its belly.

  • naive me, i expected a survival story from the title:(

  • i bet mole and badger are a bit peeved.

  • HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAY

  • wow

  • we need around 500,000 of these birds per block in nyc

  • The bird is just enjoying some RAT-tat-tooie!

  • sei la sabe

  • I like that bird.

  • No way!

  • Do beaks, like that one being gnawed on, grow like nails or rodent teeth? Or is it just so hard that it's not a concern?

  • Fascinating that it dips the rat in the water every so often like the water is soy sauce.

  • @chazflyz

Im pretty sure its just drowning it lol

  • I thought the bird was rescuing the rat...

  • Wow, wenn das in freier Wildbahn war, wurde ein seltener Moment erwischt.. Gratuliere.

  • fake!

  • This Video is more nature then all the fat-Cat-eats-bird-Videos.

  • Such a long process till it dies, I would have rather preferred it kill me instantly but then again the Heron needs to make sure it is somewhat dead before it consumes its prey. Great video, I really enjoyed it!

  • For some reason i found it funny when the rat was being dipped like a chicken McNugget in some BBQ sauce.

  • @fatboymig1 If someone was killing you by crushing your body and dunking you in the cold waters like a witch I am sure it would seem just as funny.

  • @goodyfun wow... you said witch. last i saw these were wild animals. stop humanizing them, you'll live longer.

  • Poor rat.

    Heron is mean. Shoot him.

  • @koertje The heron is not "mean". The heron is hunting to survive.

  • @goodyfun Heron is a murderer, he should eat salad.

  • GO HERON WOOTWOOT

  • Drowm it you idiot....drown it!!

  • 2:45 they're kissing ;) It was a long fight at the and ...

  • how can it eat that leptospirosis plague rat shit..

  • Being in the avian field, for nearly 25yrs now. I can honestly tell you, this rat didn't stand a chance....!!! The sheer power, of this heron's beak, is beyond measure. It's literally like a permenant dagger, attached to it's face.....

  • It could've just held the mouse underwater.. xD

  • so......the bird wins...

  • Well deserved snack.

  • Maybe the bird will learn how to drawn the prey

  • great bit of filming, im sure many was thinking how the heron was goinig to kill the rat .i kept thinking it was going to drown it, was shocked to see it swallow iw whole, but then it dip knacker the rat out!

  • can we get more herons in dublin???great way to kill rats .and so cool to watch where in dublin was that.could he do that to ploiticians?????????????????????/

  • Eragon: "Well, I guess that takes care of our rat problem."

  • If a Heron ever did that to my Gerbil, I'd tell mum that the Chicken will be tasting different today.

  • This reminded me of some cartoon where crane (or something like that, i dont know its name in english) tries toeat a frog, but frog starts to strangle him :) Untill the end!

  • @dingo27mobile I used to have that cartoon on a t-shirt as a kid. It said "Never give up!" :)

  • omg this nearly made me cry, poor little rat :( haha yeah i know im a pussy...but aww, this would of been better if the rat kicked that birds ass :D i didnt watch it to the end so thats my ending lol :D x

  • wat bedoel je daarmee kind?

  • 7:02 start to watch from de

  • Rat; "I'll bite your beak!"

    Heron; "Go ahead, doesn't hurt."

  • I hate such stupid vids!

  • i'm sorry with the rat why do the grey herron torturing him? the nature is creule why it caust so long.I DONT LIKE THIS

  • @maltezerful go kill yourself

  • @maltezerful welcome to planet earth,love.

  • i never heard the rat scream once lol

  • Look at the heron's eyes and posture. And we thought the dinosaurs were extinct. Birds are the living relatives of dinosaurs. Eagles are another great example that the T-Rex lives on.

Amazing footage. Life as it is.

  • @frozenfireify....... You hit the nail on the head, i was originally going to call this ... THE LIVING T- REX.

Very early on a cold winters morning, when the Grey Heron can be heard calling out loudly. You can imagine yourself back in prehistoric times.

Thanks for the great observations and the well thought out comment.

  • @frozenfireify SO IS THE CHICKEN ON YOUR PLATE

  • @frozenfireify Yes dinosaurs are extinct. EAgles do not represent T-Rex. Many predators use stealth and evaluate their prey it is seen in all predatory animals

  • @frozenfireify And we have recently discovered so many feathered dinosaurs!

  • amazing footage, cruel

  • Comment removed

  • You would think after all these year it would know it can just drown the rat once it has a solid grip on it instead of struggling to get a stranglehold grip around it.

  • Why the fuck is he torturing him?

  • @MajinAbu he's making sure it's dead before he swallows it. it could rip his stomach apart if swallowed it alive.

  • @Ravengaurd6 that would be fair justice & a happy ending viral hit video

  • @geogodley how is that Just? it's just as monstrous. these are animals.inter species morality is nothing to them.

  • @Ravengaurd6 KARMA

  • @geogodley what does karma have to do with Biology and Zoology?

  • wild man, wild.

  • fantastic

    very fantastic

    super megafantastic

  • @fischer3x3 Thank you very much.

  • mmmmmm.. rat the other white meat !!

  • Very cool!

  • GET IN MY BELLEH!!!!
