I love this scene and the whole episode! I love the whole 2 part finale! its one of my favorites :) Its so rude how Donna pulled Sarah Jane away from Jack and push her away D:
Out of all my favorite scenes in Doctor Who, this is probably one of my absoluite favorites. I'm never forgetting this one! Nearly makes me cry though...The Doctor's whole family together, just lke it should be. :)
It's funny but looking at this clip now makes me feel that Doctor Who was getting away from what it should be be; this was all too extravagant, too large, a little too out of hand. I like the way it has now scaled down a bit so that even rebooting the entire universe has a more personal feel to it. RTD was becoming a little bit OTT towards the end, which is a shame because Tennant was a fabulous Doctor whom I felt was let down by the scripts in the end. It was time to move on.
@cmahoney07 you forgot the moon, it's influence is huge, and i think the number 99% is quite wrong, the other 26 planets could influence earth's gravity but the doctor said that the planets were in perfect equilibrium wich make my comment useles ...
i am no scientist trust me :) but surely if Earth was in the middle of a different galaxy and especially when it is being pulled back what the hell happens to gravity??
@ilanabanana92 well really if that happened irl the earth would be ripped apart so you have to suspend your disbelief or think that because the doctor had all his companions helping he was able to get the full power of the TARDIS out and protect the Earth (more or less).
@ilanabanana92 Well planet earth has her own gravity so that's not a big problem, the insteresting fact here is that the humans are not freezing to death !! =D
@ScOrPiioOX I believe it was explained by either the Doctor himself or the news stations that the earth had been contained to keep the heat trapped inside... Something, I just know that it was covered.
@dunespeak That was certainly explained but what about the moon.I dont recall seeing it still orbiting the earth. So if it was left behind in our solar system why didnt` it drift away while the earth was gone?
My favorite moment is at 2:16. Rose and Martha are hugging and the doctor breaks in for a three-way hug. It's so great to see Martha finally overcome her jealousy of Rose and it really feels like she's stopped living in Rose's shadow in this episode. The "Oh my God, he found you!" from earlier on always makes me tear up, too. I always wish we'd gotten a scene of Rose and Martha sitting down and having a nice chat over a cup of tea. :)
This is what I love about Doctor Who, and what got me hooked so fast in the first place. It just makes me smile. It makes me happy, no matter what. It's happy even when it's not happy xP
the entire earth is being towed and all that happens is the livings rooms shake a bit and ppl have to hide under tables come off it, continents would b ripped apart, the ocean would flood everywhere
@jhibbitt1 while in the real world this is true, in the world of Doctor Who everything is possible (mostly). The Tardis has unimaginable power, maybe the Tardis is doing something so that the Earth doesn't collapse on itself during the tow? You never know. :P
I would have liked them to finish off by retrieving the moon, which would have surely drifted off somewhere. Hoisted it away from its collision with the Sun or something. But then again I'm a massive geek!
i mean that's just desperately sad, the fact that she can not remember him. Rose leaving in Doomsday and here was sad, but she remembered, and could come back later, but Donna's leaving is just......wow. she can never remember, that's it for her, i mean that's desperate. and then The Doctor, again, is left all alone. He had to leave Rose again, had to wipe Donna's memory, and that's almost reflected, that loss, in that he didn't get another companion for another year, on the TV series.
lol, 2.18. Donna's such a character. funny thing about this episode. you're so happy, The Doctor's so happy, and his Tardis is full of his family, and then they all leave, and Donna looses all traces of him from her memory, and he's left all alone again, and very sad, and we're all sad as well.
What moves me most is that the Dr. was unable to save his own world and family. But he is able to do for Earth (his adopted home) what he could not do for Gallifrey, and in some small way make amends for that horrible time and loss. You can almost hear the spirits of the Time Lords singing the Dr. on to his greatest triumph.
@Telpy The Doctor destroyed Gallifrey for his own reasons, mainly to end the war. It was tragic what he did, and I agree with you, but he had to destroy Gallifrey and time lock it. I started watching Doctor Who with the new series and when I realized they used to go to Gallifrey I watched almost all of the old episodes to see what it was like. It was amazing.
@Gwiizmo the scene really blurs the line btwn show and reality bcos it comes off as cheesy but really thats just the actors showing their enthusiasm and how much sheer fun they r having doing this and u can't help but smile along with them its beautiful
I just love it the doctor is excited about getting earth back home and in the middle of his rant he stops just to say "No Jakcie... just.... no. Dont touch anything and stnad back" thats is awesome lol
I think one the best scenes in Dr. Who ever, where everyone comes together and saves the earth. The music composition and the screenplay was perfect and brought me to tears a few times when I first saw it. Dr. Who the best Sci Fi ever created I think.
Truly iconic scene for a sci fi show as well as the show in its entire 40 yr history. U can really tell that the cast had fun filming this. I don't know why some ppl don't like Journey's End its an amazing finale
I listened to the music and it's not the same without the dialogue and sound effects from the episode, and prolly not the video either, making this truly a visual and audio delight. XD
This is one of my favorite scenes in David Tennant's reign as the Doctor because of this song - it's so full of hope and joy. Makes you want to smile and cry.
Fantastic!!! The best scenes and music out all the new Dr Who seasons so far...not to mention how the Tardis should be flown.... by meer Humans oh and a couple of Time Lords...Absolute emotional rollercoaster....perfection
And also love the little detail that Luke, Gwen and Ianto seem to be really enjoying the ride (they know what's going on) while Wilf, Silvia and Francine are terrified!
Might not have been the best episode of season four (Though it's still a great one), this scene if my favorite from the season, just because of the fact that almost everybody we've come to love in the new show, the Doctor's extended family, is helping to fly the Tardis. A moment that I think every fan can enjoy, even if it is a tad cheezy, but not much.
My favorite episode this season was "Fires of Pompeii." Can't help it, I'm a big history buff.
@2ndCorpsAnv I agree. This bit was cheesy. guess what. ALOT of Dr Who is and was, yeah even the classic series. It kind of has to be to an extent in a weird way. I think it was the best finale yet. Yes in terms of story deph and all that it wasn't the best as a single ep but it was part of a 2 or 3 parter AND it it was what a finale should b tying up looses ends and just being epic and thats exactly what it was. Brilliant ep for a brilliant series and brialliant show all round
"The music played in this section is a new arrangement of the 'song of the ood' composed by Murray Gold. Although this is not available to buy on cd yet the previous series have been released and it would be very likely that this would be the case with this series. However in previous series the release of the cd has waited to include music from the Christmas special." Many thanks to the BBC National Orchestra For Wales for the info listed above.
y'know... without the earth there, wouldn't the moon have fallen into the sun or something?
