  • Hey MetalMusicOfficially uninformed- an album costs thousands of dollars to make so that it sounds like the band intended - so i guess if the company paying for that cant make a profit back then bands like this fall by the waste side and you go on thinking its greed-well then you wonder why there aint bands like this around anymore-all because you want awesomeness for free- MORON

  • BLACK SABBATH IS THE GREATEST BAND EVER.

  • Being a 53 year old hard core Sabbath fan (and a CPA) who's seen these guys LIVE on-stage in '76, I feel entitled to crank this CD (and Vol. 4) in my Jaguar XJ8 when I gas up at the local Snak Shak here in Sulphur, OK. It (and the car) trumps anything else heard (or seen) from the others fueling up their POS trucks and SUVS. Sabbath is musical napalm and I bomb the locals every chance I get!

  • God bless Toni !

  • God Bless Tony.

  • dont get me wrong i love the first riff. but the second riff the dark sludgy sounding one near the end...i cannot express in words how much that riff just makes me want to fuckin explode into sweet dence human liquid! FUCK!

  • Gothic Prophets of the Cenozoic (just some words that flashed into mind*). BS, or pure bs?

*actually I was trying think of some other certain word to describe what I was hearing/feeling... but that phrase took its place

  • masters of the heavy rock riff and ozzys maniac vocals fit perfectly.all the best Tony Iommi,we are pullin for ya

  • Get well soon Tony, we're all here for you.

  • 3:18 LET THERE BE METAL

  • jim norton

  • Iommi was diagnosed with Lymphoma recently. :(

  • @metroidblaster127 he'll recover ;)

  • @metroidblaster127

They found it in an early stage, he'll probably be fine.

  • @metroidblaster127

Mate he will recover no one can kill devil ;-)

  • 3:18 to 3:51 always gives me goosebumps........ahhh, love it

  • Suprised I've never heard of these guys. I know everything there is to know about metal, and this is a good band that should have gotten big. I know talent when I hear it. Shows you how bad the music industry is. I like the chick singer, she's pretty cool.

  • @rovibe LOL. Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @rovibe are your retarded

  • @rovibe the most ridiculous post in the history of youtube. or the biggest wind up.

  • i first kissed my girlfriend listening this song :)

  • Almost 700,000 people have seen this vid... and 24 dislike... 24 people with bad taste....

  • llmll

  • I've never thought of sabbath as metal, even though the majority of people credit Iommi with inventing it. They've always seemed more like rock, to me.

  • ive heard this song so many time and never knew who the artist was

  • 24 disliking people the gates of life are closed on them and there's just no return.

  • the pick swipes @ the end of this song are unmatched the history of all that is metal! pure evil @ it's finest!

  • Though the main riff defiantly influenced 1000's of metal riffs to come, Sabbath ( Iommi specifically) is more than metal. The art form of going from heavy looming evil to melancholy sweet sadness is what makes the 70's Sabbath so appealing. Just when you start to feel terrified, the music changes to make you feel safe. Heavy Metal lost this art form when 80's hair bands took over.

  • @MojoHandle this comment should be the highest rated

  • @MojoHandle Sabbath is, because of what you pointed out, NOT metal. They are heavy rock, just like Zeppelin were. Judas Priest and Motorhead, however... now, there's the first two metal bands for ya!

  • @Innerspace100

    What? No, don't be stupid.

  • @Innerspace100 black sabbath were the first man...zeppelin was also one of the first heavy metal bands. motorhead is a twist off from trash metal and judas priest was a hair metal abnd, but waaaaay better then poison and others. sorry if my english sucks ass

  • @MojoHandle Yes, you´re right. You have to remember that Sabbath´s main influence were the Beatles along with Cream. Tony Iommi also plays flute, piano..You can hear lots of Jazz and Blues in their sound, along with typical 70s pop/commercial melodies, used beautifully and intelligently by Sabbath. They used pianos, bongos..

  • @MojoHandle I don´t think it was 80s hair "metal" bands fault, thou. Someone here pointed out that Priest and Motorhead were the first real Heavy metal bands and I agree. Their sound coupled with Punk is what we have today. Hair bands were really bubble gum pop, not metal. People give too much credit to hair bands and forget the thrash bands fighting against them. That sound prevailed.

  • @ElFrankus

moron. Motorhead/Judas Priest is Black Sabbath on Speed hence Speed Metal.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot

mmotorhead is NOT metal, lemmy himself will punch you in the mouth for saying that. and i agree. they are just a bunch of uber aggressive rockers.

priest is HAIR metal, or as i like to say "cabbage patch metal"

ever notice how legit metal bands sing songs about ADULT situations, while priest and their ilk dwell on the eternal teenager refusing to grow up attitude?

  • @edslides1

The structure of their music is metal. End of. And no they don't really. Satan is hardly an adult concept/situation.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot

i think the concept is good v. evil, and you dont see too many jp fans contemplating anything much deeper than the bottom of their beer bottle.

metal isnt structure, its attitude, and the fact that it causes on =e to think outside the lyrics of the song itself.

which really has nothingto do with the actual music

listen to sabbaths music without concentrating on the words.

now try it with any hair band of the 80s.

    it fails

  • @edslides1

No, music is structure coupled with attitude. Lyrics have nothing to do with the structure or genre.

Punk is punk because of its structure and attitude.

Motorhead is metal because they're Black Sabbath with punk influence. As Motorhead uses tritones and progressions influenced from Sabbath.

Hair bands aren't a real classification. If you told me Poison was metal i'd slap you. If you told me Judas Priest wasn't metal I'd slap you.

I'm not even a JP fan.

  • @12GageMcBuckshot

neither one classify, in my opinion.

    look up sir lord baltimore

  • @edslides1

Certainly Metal, but I don't see how you're not seeing Motorhead as metal. O well, too much effort to argue disagreements on the tube. eh?

I'm fairly busy watching Ningen Isu. Look them up, and Iron Claw - Winter

  • @edslides1 Troll harder. Motorhead is most definitely metal, and Priest is as well. Priest have some of the most mature lyrics in all of metal. Sure, some of the commercial ones are a bit angsty, but go look at Sad Wings of Destiny. As for them being hair metal, they are the complete opposite. If you can group them with Poison or Whitesnake, you are doing something grossly wrong. The closest they get to hair is on Turbo. Still not even close, though.

  • @MojoHandle

it is also what makes metal METAL.

im gonna piss people off here, but judas priest is not metal in the traditional sense. the fact that the sabs can (and did0incorporate melody into their songs, and change styles the way they did, without changing WhAT they did is the defining element.

the 80s bands just could not stray from a formula, eve when it sucked.

listen to a band called sir lord baltimore. they pulled of f sab style metal

  • @MojoHandle So damn true. Question is? Will this type of soul piercing metal ever make a comeback?

  • @MojoHandle stop analyzing and just enjoy... that is the only true metal spirit. don't like? don't listen. simple. not into the hair-stuff? (me neither)! no need to listen/analyse. And your arty-farty part? I don't care, and I think no one does... So, listen, enjoy or klick 'next'. Got It?

  • @samsdrunk Your response was life changing. I am a new person, now.

  • @MojoHandle OK, I'll start a church then. :-)

  • @MojoHandle

    your missing your own point.

all the things you mention are the very things that make heavy metal heavy metal. certain characteristics must be present.

that is why judas priest is not, nor will they ever be heavy metal(well, maybe sad wings of destiny. what happened guys?)

unless they change their evil ways

  • @MojoHandle And then Metallica came around and fucked it all up. The classic metal sound was gone.

  • @Audioslave3 Metallica were good in their own way and were the pioneers of thrash metal. But this amazing sound of heavy metal which Black Sabbath created was too great and tough to be produced again. Not many bands were able to create the music and legacy that Black Sabbath and Tony Iommi did. This is why they will stand out as the greatest metal band ever!

  • People are far, far away from the truth....

  • Ozzy never yells "heavy metal" in concert, he yells "Rock N' Roll!"

  • @StoneyMcJuicyBuds So what? Have something against Heavy Metal?

  • @MadStone666 This IS Heavy Metal.

  • @MadStone666 Yeah I do, it's gay just like you.

  • @StoneyMcJuicyBuds Sounds stupid on english, so I will write it on srbian.

Teraj se u tri picke materine, govno nebazdareno.

  • ozzy has such a unique voice....

  • 3:17 FUCKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!! O___O'

  • First time I bought this album as a teen (in the 1990's), I didn't know what was on it. Didn't know what to expect. When this song started playing I said,"Yeah!"

  • God knows as your dog knows...

  • I WANT TO SEE/HEAR HIM SING THIS LIVE , ONE MORE TIME ....AT LEAST >;)

  • thumbs up if you go to the sabbath reunion tour in athens

  • best song by black sabbath. this should be their signiture song instead of paranoid and iron man!

  • @legofreak1011 Their signature song should be the one the band is named after "Black Sabbath"

  • hay 23 imbeciles a los q no les gusta... que estupidos

  • Some people say Rush were the first prog metal band but I think Black Sabbath mining this territory even earlier.

  • @MrMikej413 I don't really think that Black Sabbath are very progressive, but then again i wouldn't really call rush metal.

  • @jordanluvsdrums

Never thought of Rush as metal, hard rock definitely but not metal (though a lot of their themes and the tone of some of their writing was very metal). Sabbath, may not seem Progressive (big P) nowadays but they were very progressive (small p) in the 1970's.ELP were Progressive (big P) but not progressive (small p). Prog metal (big P) is heavily influenced by Sabbath but the genre being a fusion and Sabbath being the original, Sabbath cannot be a part of it.

  • @rufus566 I think Rush dabbled in Metal but weren't a Metal band. Same with Led Zeppelin. I almost want to say the same thing about Black Sabbath but then there's a strict label placed on them by most that they are strictly a Metal band! To me, Black Sabbath is more than that though.

  • Ritchie came up with a few catchy riffs, Page also, and Hendrix (granted, he was only on the scene about 2 years), but Tony was like a landslide that never stopped. They were catchy, and i'm not thinking his fingertip handicap caused him any problems with his creativity. Eddie, Jimmy, whoever, are better guitar players. Absolutely. Better at creating riffs? Absolutely NOT.

  • @alkimst13 True that:)

  • You Bastards!!

  • IOMMI IS GOD

  • Am I the only one who thinks Dio should have done this song at least once while he was in Sabbath?

Ah well, I guess it's too late now....

  • Tony Iommi - RIFF MASTER. all metal guitarists, on your knees and bow to the Lord of Metal.

  • @alkimst13 Yes he is a riff master!!! But he isn't the best. I know he had a finger accident, but still...

  • @adamtheboyfromdenmar then who is?

  • @alkimst13 Well people can talk about who is the greatest guitarist until they die! But I can name some of the best who is no doubt the greatest: Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Randy Rhoads and Jimmy Page... There is off course many others, but... If you play guitar, you should know that these are some of the greatest of all time! :)

Long Live Rock N Roll - Dio

  • @adamtheboyfromdenmar as far as guitar virtuosity, they would be superior to Tony in my estimation. as for concocting a catchy background riff that supports the basis for the entire song, therein lies his strength. i'm thinking you have people walking around all day humming a few bars of Iron Man, rather than Purple Haze or Black Dog.

  • @adamtheboyfromdenmar Arguing about the greatest guitarist ever is pointless. It's very subjective, and there are other guitarists that technically have better skill then Iommi. It's his ability to write heavy riffs that seperates him from the rest. And also, music isn't a competition. The sooner people realize that, the better off we'll all be.

  • @buriedinsmoke3 Yes but the riffs Iommi is making in not genius. I meen if not Ritchie Blackmore invented smoke on the water, then somebody else would, and thats the same with the Iron man riff. Sweet Child o mine is a great riff. The iron man riff also sound AWESOME!!! But if not Iommi invented the riff, then somebody ese would, cause its an riff that anybody could play!

  • @adamtheboyfromdenmar So by your logic, someone else would've eventually written Iron Man? I'm gonna have to disagree with you here, respectfully of course. Iommi practically invented a whole new genre because of his handicap. People caught on and began taking influence from that. Honestly, I think if it wasn't for Iommi's style, heavy metal just wouldn't have evolved in the same way. We'd still have heavy music, but it would be kinda different than what you hear now.

  • @buriedinsmoke3 I agree with that Iommi has changest the heavy metal. And probably someone else could have writting that song. But im specialy talking about the famous riff. Its not only Tony who is making good riffs as everyone can make, it can be anybody. But I also think that you are a bigger Black Sabbath fan than me, so thats why we talking about how good Iommi is. Im just saying that Toni isn't the best, but its understanding with his handicap. Toni Iommi is AWESOME!!!

  • @buriedinsmoke3 and yes he is a riff master!!!!

  • @adamtheboyfromdenmar Yeah, I'm a huge Sabbath fan. Like I told someone earlier, picking out the best or your favorite guitarist is totally subjective. Iommi's pretty much my idol, so of course I put him on a higher pedestal then most people do. I know he isn't the best ever, but he is my all time favorite. And I think we can both agree that, yes, he is a riff master!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what a voice

  • black sabbath heck ya friken sweet there runing again defently lisening to those tracks black sabbath live on norfolk southern man out

  • They could preform just this album and I would pay a million dollars and sell my soul to hear it.

  • for some reason my tv was on and i kept seeing usher and katy perry and things like that and i just ignored it for a little while until it really annoyed me and i had to turn it off and put this song on

  • Metal was created on the Sabbath :).

  • Best Song.

  • 28. 6. 2012. METAL COMES BACK TO SERBIA! HAIL! \m/

  • fuck a7x or 5 fingered death punch, they wouldnt be famous without ozzy inventing metal

  • @gamerguy81 Both of those bands are fucking terrible lol, they're poser metal. Actually i wouldn't even go as far to call them "metal", that's an insult to metal.

  • 11.11.11

    REUNION

  • geezer's bass is excellent

  • 3:16 First breakdown ever!

  • Rock n Fucking Roll.

  • Ozzy's voice is so amaizing \m\ i rly identify myself ith this one

  • this song changed my life

  • This tune got me through some dark times during my youth. It totally spoke to me. Saying to don't ever give up, no matter what the odds are (3:18) and who eff'd with you in the past.

  • this is real hard rock

  • Let me recite a verse from the Unholy Metal Bible, Iomi 3:17 "And it was said that the instruments of the Devil would unleash the Breakdown upon the world, and it was done. The procreation had succeeded and the Breakdown was born".

  • @hj7397 Because of the current state of "breakdowns" (and what screamo did to them), I am reluctant to call this a breakdown. To me, it is just one of the heaviest riffs ever recorded.

  • @69ofdoom that and the WHA WHA WHAWHAWHA from electric funeral

  • 3:17 Let there be Metal, and there was Metal

  • @ThisisSparta135 Ozzy Osbourne hates the term "heavy metal." It's kind of funny that the man who helped define this bands sound doesn't even use the term.

  • @TheMotorCity2011 Bion [Believe it or not], Led Zeppelin and Angus Young hated that term, too :).

  • @ThisisSparta135 Yep! My favorite band EVER - AND THEY'RE BACK! I now spend my days praying for Sabbath to come to Portugal....

    YEAH! :p

  • @ThisisSparta135 And it was good.

  • Comment removed

  • OZZY RULES!!!!
