  • GREATEST MOVIE WEDDING OF ALL TIME

  • This is such a beautiful wedding. The best of any classic movie I've seen unless someone can name a better one.

  • 2 Protestants find this Roman Catholic ritual offensive.

  • @frisco21 No, it isn't that; one florist and one caterer were underbid for the reception!!

  • 2 people don't understand how wonderful and beautiful this scene is.

  • i'd be really funny if my friends'd sing a song about how to solve a problem like me while i'm trying to get married

  • awesome

  • i played the organ in that church!!!!

  • @organperson wow...lucky!

  • Ilove it!It's my best musical movie!

  • although I've seen it a thousand times, I'm always getting a little shocked when the organ starts to play at the beginning :)))

  • why are the nuns kept behind bars ??

  • @usnavymuscle Because they are cloistered nuns

  • @usnavymuscle It's because they are cloistered nuns, and aren't allowed to leave the Abbey once they have committed to their lives with God.

  • Beautiful , thanks ...

  • ************THANKS

  • THE PURITY,INNOCENCE AND DECENCY OF THIS FILM IS JUST SO WONDERFUL...YOU COULD EASILY WATCH THIS FILM EVEN WITH A PREIST AS WELL ;-))))

  • PURE MAGNIFICENCE :-)

  • Even tho my name isn't Maria, I want to walk the aisle to this

  • thisa my favoritu parta ob a disa mobie. Sooooo brutifuru!

  • que elegancia

  • Most beautiful wedding in a movie EVER!!! Nothing will be able to top the beauty of this movie. After over 45 years it is still going strong!!!

  • Wow, this movie reflects my whole childhood! What a wonderful wedding! Actually brings tears to my eyes!

  • Maybe captain von Trapp knows how to solve "a problem like Maria".. or at least he knows how to "catch a cloud and pin it down.." (he is so handsome btw ..)

  • Who's the one guy who disliked this??

  • he looks gorgeous!!

  • She's beautiful in her wedding dress!

  • I think the point is that before, Maria didn't seem to have purpose to her life. She needed something bigger and more exciting than living in the abbey. All the nuns saw she wasn't fit for their lifestyle because she had such a mind of her own. They are singing this song remembering how lost she used to be, and agreeing they are now thankful she has a life more suited to her personality.

  • @lov3anonymous treu to some it up they wanted her to live the will of God in her life ... and the mother superior being wise had inkling it wasn't in the abbey

  • I've always laughed at what they are singing as she marches down the aisle....fantastic quality, great scene, one of the best movies of all time

  • How could anyone "dislike" this? Explain, please.

  • Liesl = Pippa

  • I love how all the nuns appear to be banished form the church and are locked behind the gates

  • @passingthoughts My theory is this. Because they are Brides Of God As Nuns, they can't go into the church for it would mean crossing the secular line which would have been a sin. That's my belief I could be wrong. However they didn't thnk twice about destroying Her Zeller's Car.

  • @laminage However they didn't thnk twice about destroying Her Zeller's Car.... Indeed, but they actually acknowledge they have sinned, which is good. There's one scene that as a child always gave me the creeps, when the family abandon the house at night to go to the concert and never come back. Like I picture that huge house the next night abandoned in ghostly darkness...

  • @MrMartinportnoy Yeah, you're right about that. You are right about the House. I wouldn't be surprised if it was used for "Headquarters" upon Her Zeller's request. I also heard that after they made it out of Austria and into Switzerland, they pretty much had to sing for their Supper. They moved to Stowe, VT which reminded them of home, had a Chalet and that burned down. Yet a "New" Generation of Von Trapps are still continuing the Family Tradition.

  • @MrMartinportnoy The scene that always scared me was the scene in which they were questioned about where they were and what they did. My Grandparents did that with me and my Cousins when we were kids and we all hated it.

  • @passingthoughts Well it's very clearly a symbolic scene, when Maria looks back at the prioress and she leans forward smiling, as if telling her: "OK, go on, that's your role in life: wife and stepmother, not nun"... I love this scene

    BASTA !!!

  • So the only way to solve the problem of a precocious woman is to marry her off?

  • the church in Mondsee is gorgeous

  • Such a magical film..i love this classic gem !!!

  • I remember, when I was a little girl, at the age of 5 i visited this church and it was such a marvellous feeling to ' be in my favorite ' film. Thanks for posting.

  • @kuolleetomenapuut where is the church?what's the name

  • @cinderellahaha I don't know the exact name, it's located in Salzburg.

  • I love the fact that she walks alone to the altar, and not "given away".

She is a woman, making her own choice.

Love, love, love the movie and the music. :)

  • I read that in real life she was pregnant when she married the captain lol I wonder what the reverend mother thought about that!

  • @Efrasios i read that too, in the real Maria von Trapp's autobiography...i can't help but wonder what the movie would've been like if they had added in that little detail. Definitely would've changed its "wholesome" image :)

Regardless, i think i would've loved it...provided Julie was still in it :)

  • I think she solved her problem.

  • Surprisingly, the theatre organ in the studio in California sounded quite good with the tremulants switched off. Yes thats the movies. The organ you see at the start is not the one you are hearing.

  • what a depressing wedding!

  • You marry her off to someone with six kids?

  • @tomayoga seven

  • THANKYOU! I've been looking for this for AGES!

  • @Myles0Harcourt Me too! <3!

  • this is my wedding march.someday.mark my word.im also a Maria. =)

  • @missdemeanorchris You gotta put it on youtube if you do it! It's a great wedding march!

  • @adella20 haha! sure! but first and foremost, there's gotta be a captain von trap.am stil on the search.hahaha!

  • Love her wedding gown!!!

  • this has to be one of the prettiest movie weddings. So elegant. :']

  • I always thought this looked like the most beautiful wedding when I was little.

  • Such a beautiful piece of music. And a great scene! Wonderful dress!

  • I always thought the Royal Wedding would look like this...!

  • this will be my wedding march.after all, i am also a Maria. =)

  • ever since i watched this movie as a kid ive always wanted to just wear a military officer's uniform with a sword on my side for my own wedding...suits are just plain anyway.

  • fabolous thanks nicky

  • This film takes me to heaven and back...

what can i say about this magnificent masterpiece...

It is sweet, wholesome, funny, glamourous, romantic, dramatic, religious,a tear jerker,of great human spirit and just such a feel good movie that the whole family can watch over and over again...

it is MY FAVORITE FILM OF ALL TIME!

i could never tire of it...I LOVE IT SO MUCH!

  • @AllAboutLOVEatYuToob your a lovey ducky lols love u nick

  • @blondiebabs

love u wabsie and the sound of music...LOOL

  • @longhairfan105 not to mention the media coverage of the linda blair lookalike

  • Greatness is filled in this movie.

  • This is in Salzburg Cathedral. I recognize it because I have personally toured it. Nevertheless, this is the best wedding caught on film. Although i wish they would have went with only the pipe organ throughout Maria's processional up to the altar instead of the vocals of the "Maria" hymn.

  • @SnickleFritz79 hey fritz

  • Oh wow..thank you for showing this..i have been looking for ages to find this particular scene and only now have found it. This is wonderful!

  • this is my fave scene in the entire movie!!

  • this is wonderful *.*

  • I think Kate Middleton inspired the wedding gown Maria worn here and she had a contemporary version for her wedding....

  • So, it's her wedding day and they're all singing about what a pain she is?

  • @Disneythievesrock It's supposed to be ironic.

  • @Disneythievesrock The added orchestra make the song 100 times better than the original!!!

  • @Disneythievesrock welcome to the catholic church :D

  • @Disneythievesrock pretty much

  • @Disneythievesrock O_O I just realized...

  • @Disneythievesrock Have you really NEVER watched The Sound of Music? This is the second time in the movie that they sing this song, it is more a of a graduation or coming of age from the pain she was to this glorious woman that she has become. Irony... :)

  • @Disneythievesrock yes, but the first time they sing this is when she's late for church at the abbey

  • @Disneythievesrock The reprise at Maria's wedding is a private song that isn't reminding the whole wedding party how unmanageable Maria used to be, but reflecting the internal musings of the nuns that this marriage is how you solve such a problem! Musicals are made that way, and the nuns got their answer from--of all places--holy matrimony in a *church.*

  • @Disneythievesrock The nuns singing this song at this moment in the film was somewhat controversial, but the director decided to do it because the nuns realized how they solved a problem like Maria and it was having her marry someone.

  • I think Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge got her inspiration from the Sound of Music.

  • Comment removed

  • @conchs82 in fact, her dress was based on prince grace's

  • @conchs82 Catherine is a nobody who isn't fit to shine the shoes of Julie Andrews, one of the world's most talented performers.

  • @laurele861 why must you be such an offensive nag

  • @LAchyM3 I'm a talented actress. What's offensive is any notion of "monarchy" in the 21st century. Today we reward people for their achievements, not for circumstances of their birth. Abolish monarchy from the face of this planet! We are the 99%.

  • Thank you!! I'm my school I'm playing Maria and I didn't know how to dress in this part thanks!

  • Not even joking, I have to play this for a wedding in July. Ironically enough the bride's name is Maria and she wants the "how do you solve a problem......" part too. This is not going to be fun on the organ at the church.

  • Yes

  • OMG i was lookin for this scene thank u soooo much I am playing Mother Abbess in my schools performance and I wanted to see what this looked like!

  • Best movie wedding processional/music EVER.

  • @blkchk - Mah dear, you said a mouthful! ... and I thought I was the only one who felt that passion about this performance.

Thanks to machro for sharing this with us.

  • i was looking for this!!!!

  • is Julie Andrews Catholic?

  • @GG2873 Doesn't matter. Julie Andrews is an actress. She was acting.

  • Me encanta esta pelicula!!!

  • Lindo!! Domê, como faço para assistir o filme??? Locação DVD???
