Na verdade a decisão não foi do COI. Isso veio do comite de candidatura. Mas é algo que sempre acontece durante os jogos.

É um jeito de mostrar um pouquinho do resto do país durante as olimpíadas. A mesma coisa acontece com cidades não praianas e as competições de vela.

Sempre foi assim, não ia ser diferente no Rio. =]

O estádio escolhido para SP é o Morumbi.

Rocinha is only one of dozens of Favelas in Rio. If you watch Rio's "Master Plan" for the Olympics, then look at the locations on Google Earth, you will realise that up to 100,000 people are going to be displaced by the Olympics. I hope the Brazilian government gives them jobs and decent housing, and not that they are forced out by the B.O.P.E. Still, I think this is tremendous news for Brazil!
