You are a dumbass. Even Greene doesn't have the "quickest" start. He held his drive phase thru 30m-40m and reached top speed around 70m! Go read the biomechanical analyses.
@roxtar55 whatever you can read all you want but ppl lie in books to sell and i rather hear something out of there mouth. I'll hopefully see both Leroy Burrell and Carl Lewis at Carl's Annual Track meet held in his honor and I 'll them, "When coming out the blocks are you focusing quickness, power, or both?"
Hi all, i am twista from Namibia(look it up) and i run the 80m in 9 seconds flat and 100m in 9.99 seconds. If you are a coach out there seeking for young talent like mine please let me know.
@lquicksilverl you do know you made an error in your time..you say you run the 80m in 9 seconds flat and the 100m in 9.99 seconds...you cover 20m in .99 seconds...impossible
@lquicksilverl Im from Namibia, thats in the southern part of africa. Im 18 years old and i am 1.85m tall. So no there is no error in my timings. I have fast twitch muscles.
@Asser714 Idk what telling me your from Namibia has anything to do with what i said and what college do you run at because if your that fast i would see you at a national meet
@lquicksilverl Just for your knowledge. However, my timings were set in high school back in Russia, Moscow. So right now i am just in search of a coach who seeks for young talent like mine. I dnt study in the States, i am currently studying software engineering at N.I.I.T in India.
the only thing bad about asafa's start (and its not even a bad pointer) is that he drags his foot, we ordinary people dont have the money to buy new spikes consistantly
@thewill4eva I've read that he said he drags his foot to not waste time with it in the air making his first two steps faster because its already on the ground
@DanilkaNadum Asafa Powell's still isn't much better, nor is Bolt's. Today's best "first stepper" is Tyson Gay. However, the best block-start of all time is Carl Lewis.
@MrBusunglueck Lmao Gay ran 9.69, Powell has not even broken 9.7 yet. You must not know shit about Tom Tellez. He Fine-Tuned Carl Lewis start to perfection in harmony with biomechanics and physics. Are you saying Tom Tellez, the most influential coach to track and field, is horrible? Ok. lmao.
@roxtar55 yea gay ran 9.69 with 2.0 and powell 9.72 without any wind. yea he tuned it to what was thought to be perfection but in /watch?v=RwNw6zT2s-U you will see that he almost kicks his foor in his butt at the first step, wich is really not good at all. also is he pushing at the block with only one foot instead of 2! look at any diamond league 100m field and youll find out every sprinter running there has a better start!
@MrBusunglueck So what motherfuck? Thats what OUTDOOR TRACK is. using the ELEMENTS to your advantage. Apparently, powell doesnt know how to do that. So stfu and stick to indoor shit then if you're gonna whine about wind. its a part of the fucking game. just like snow/rain and football. excuses. You only push off with one foot dumbass!!!! you cant run with both feet on the ground at the same time! what an idiotic douche. go read up on tom tellez, u need to be edumacated.
@lquicksilverl precisely. he focuses on power in the beginning, not "quickness" which "sets him up" for top speed later in the race rather than reaching it by 50m and slowing down the last 30m. instead he only decelerates the last 12m.
@roxtar55 ok then his start isn't great....he not the best starter ever by far but he is one of the best sprinters ever...you can focus on both quickness and power at your start Maurice Greene did and he was great
@lquicksilverl Yes it is. You fall under the common mainstream misconception. A good start in the professional level means to set yourself up for top speed. Just because you can reach 95% top speed at 40m doesn't make you fast because (1) you never reach 100% top speed and (2) you decelerate sooner. Ask Tellez. And check out Leroy Burrell while your at it. Same principle, same university, same regimen, same coach, and that's why they had WR's.
@roxtar55 yea leroy burrell really knows about making fast sprinters....thats y UH always has fast 100m runners......and I doubt leroy teaches anybody about just having a powerful start...i could of sworn he was teaching his runners about a powerful and quick start...especially his soon who runs 10.3 that i've meet and seen run in person
@roxtar55 the track world is evolving just like every other sport......Tom Tellez is old school...you can believe what you want.......In my opinion he's not the best coach..and carl lewis doesn't have the best start
@lquicksilverl World class male sprinters stride approximately forty-three times for a 100 meter race. If a mechanical error costs one-one thousandth of a second per stride, the total cost is .043 seconds by the finish. How can one be an efficient sprinter? Kinesiology, biomechanics, and the laws of physics govern every sprinter’s technique. Contributing to the study of movement is the discipline biomechanics, which refers to the engineering of the body and laws of physics governing it.
@lquicksilverl Nice ad hominem fallacy there. Either way, Dr. Kiriazis biomechanical analysis beats anything Mills has published. Wait, he knows nothing about biomechanics, just HGH. Pwned. Pce nigga.
@roxtar55 Like Carl Lewis didn't take banned stimulants....stay slow and keep reading about track....and not actually doing it......just because you read a book and listen to what people say doesn't mean you know the sport........your a fan....who lives in the past about Carl Lewis and his Glory days.....you are apart of the people who sicken us real Track Athletes....
@lquicksilverl At the start, mass is at rest. The property of inertia inherent in the mass resists changes in velocity (a vector with magnitude and direction) and according to Newton’s first law will maintain this velocity unless acted on by an external force. The amount of inertia within the mass is proportional to the amount of mass; objects with more mass require more force to move initially. The MORE FORCE a sprinter applies force to the blocks, inertia is overcome and linear movement begins
notice something guys, notice how his feet do not leave the blocks until almost the final moment. that shows that you have to RUN out of the blocks, not JUMP out.
you gotta be kidding? you didn't see how long his right leg stayed in the starting block? that leg was there for a VERY long time. pushing into the blocks creates backward movement so thats why you use your arms to initiate the start
The best way to describe it, is "pushing" out. The leg at front block is extended completely b4 the foot leaves the block. It is done so as hard as physically possible. When we run at top speed, we are pushing DOWN into the ground, then the ground returns this energy to us in a diagonal direction (with both vertical and horizontal components). If by "run" you mean driving the left knee forward along with the right arm then yes, but with regards to the right leg, it is a powerful pushing motion..
i love powell. but you really dont run out the blocks. if you looked at a normal race it LOOKS as if you do. but he really pushes out using both legs but moves them differently if you watch hes slowly.

3) Dwain Chambers.
4) Tim Montgomery.

oneshotatglory666 2 years ago
he didnt say that ben johnson reaced the fastest. the fastest out of the blocks could mean the first 20 meters, first 10 meters, or first 30 meters
i would never consider having a faster reacion time mean faster out of the blocks
