I think they really are too optimistic, I'm not saying optimism is a bad think. But, this kind of reminds me of 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). But, science is not like anything like that, it takes years (maybe two hundred) to accomplish all the fancy stuff we see. I know its supposed to entertain, not educate. But...

No way have you seen the progress we've done in the last 50 years? things are advancing exponentially. Computer speed tripled in like less than 2 years. Flying cars are a little far fetched though not because of the trouble of inventing it but the immense cost and infrastructure change that will need to be done. All of the things shown on the 2057 documentaries are possible outcomes of research being done in those fields.
