The problem with Bachmann's argument is, "everyone has the same rights under the law" and since "the law" doesn't allow same-sex unions, same-sex couples are not being discriminated against. The thing about "we all have the same rights" is a cop out. There is a distinction on the rules of marriage she said so herself. All American males may marry a female and all females may marry a male. If she really wanted to not have a criteria then the law would be anyone can marry. She talks about how kids aren't allowed to pray in schools. That is so very inaccurate. As a student you can pray all you want in school. My school even has a club called the fellowship of christian athletes. You just can't make prayer part of a class. If someone tried to make students praise a God other than the one she believes in during class, I would be willing to bet she would be right there saying that it isn't okay to do that.

The textbooks aren't the end all and be all of knowledge. They are a repository of the knowledge at the time they are written.
