  • haha seagulls :p

  • Those turbofans almost sound like propellers at the takeoff

  • @dvamateur I always thought they sounded like a V8 engine.

  • something that big shouldn't be flying

  • It looks like a giant compared to those cars :-)

  • ok girls....no biting & scratching now :)

  • I live near Travis AFB. I never get tired of hearing those C-5 engines whinnning in the sky!

  • Not really important ktm511, but you may want to change the spelling of Texas in the description...

And BTW, I lived in Va Beach for a few years when my dad was stationed at Oceana in the late 60's. F4's, A6's and F8's

I love going to the base and seeing the planes up close!

  • I was completely blown away the first time I saw one of these planes take off.

  • That is not Lackland, that is Naval Air station Norfolk. GET IT RIGHT!

  • @paul205757 who said that was lackland? I said they are based out of Lackland. lol

  • and to think i have 16 of these puppies based at Westover ARB in Massachusetts, from the 439th military airlift wing. and i live only about 10 min away from the base. both my parents were based at westover for a time, while they were both in the army a while back. gotta love family history! nice video though, i love these birds! :D semper fi, carry on!

  • May 2nd. The day I get to work on that beast in the US Air Force.

  • big ass

  • big ass !!!

  • Love the sound of the engines

  • Sounds like a Nascar restricter plate Engine from 2:06-2:28

  • Wow those birds are HUGE!!

  • I love coming here to watch planes :D

  • The engine makes a V8 engine sound.

  • Yep! That is Norfolk NAS alright. We get a good amout of C-5s and C-17s here.

  • ahhh the training facility it brings back memories

  • Airpower!

  • just think about how much power those engines have. mind boggling

  • @sirhobbes59

Very Little actually, All Bark, No Bite. even at ATOT, they only produce 43,000lbs of thrust. Which by todays standards cant be found in that class of engine. Leave it to the USAF to even derate the CF6-80C2 engines. I personally recommended the GE90-90B engine, which is more fuel efficient, and has 40% more power.

  • @PaganEgyptian You wanna pay for higher fuel bills from more powerful engines? Derating saves fuel.

  • This looks like Norfolk NAS!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love that sound

  • The best sounding airplane in the world!

  • Nice camera work !!! I was based at Lackland for "basic". I looooved watching the '5s practice touch and go's :)

  • @afropunk100 make sure to get pics and video! if you do, send it this way! I love C-5s!

  • OMG...it's the Galacticon...you got it!

What an awesome bird! This beast has escaped the lens of my camera way too many times!

One day I shall capture her!

    Nice stuff!
