hi ive got the spider iv 75 im very happy with it but theres 1 thing i would like 2 know please.and thats how do i restart or refresh its memory to how it was out of the box.i was makeing some presets on it and i copyed over 1 so i would like 2 start again from scratch. please help thank you.
@sonnyboy1069 Hold the “A” button as you power the unit on, then press the presets encoder once.
***NOTE: If an FBV controller is connected to the Spider IV during the Factory Reset, the LCD screen on the FBV will go blank. To return the display, simply press a footswitch on the FBV or disconnect/reconnect the CAT5 cable to the FBV.
@guitdude09 this is a very subjective question. I personally do not think the Spider amps sound muddy at all. My advice to you would be to visit your local dealer and hear one for yourself.
@theARMYOFMETAL9 the Spider IV15 has 4 amp models and 6 smart FX. The Spider IV 30 has 12 amp models and 7 smart FX. The other Spider IV models have 16 amp models and 56 FX built in. So really, there are a ton of tonal possibilities with each model.
do they make those boards for the spider 3 hd150? because i have the spider 3 hd150 and it would really help switching between my clean and distortion presets while playing songs. and i personally like the spider 3's much better than the 4's, the 4's just sound too digital for me when i play them in guitarcenter. the 3's are great though!
@TheMcLaini Hi. There is the FBV Express MkII and the FBV Shortboard MkII to choose from. For prices just check your local music store or favorite online retailer. Thanks!
@MrWWEThemeSongs1 dont get it ive had 2 of the 15 watt small amps and i just got a 75watt 1 12 spider n thought maybe it would be better but it isnt the small 1s lose sound distortion mainly and this 1 i have now just went crazy volume went down then everything started goin down by octaves and then the lights go off then everything goes off and the lcd has like 3 or 4 black squares in it n it doesnt do anything i love the sound but iam 3 for 3 now and iam sticking with my gfx 65 crate
@darknature79 Hi, Please reach out to Line 6 Support and they can troubleshoot with you on what might be going on. Just visit the Line6 website and click on the top navigation "Support" Thanks!
Looks like I'll get the 15 watt model 'cause it's $99.99 and no tax or postage at an eBay music store.
There's other stuff I'd rather get because I don't need all the bells and whistles on this thing. But problem is that like my stupid Ibanez TB-15R most cheap amps are locking the Gain knob out of the clear channel, and that truly sucks.
Most of the pawn shops are standing firm at $135 and then tax for the Line 6 Spider IV 15 watt. I hope they go out of business setting on those crates.
@emmetts8 Hi, Yes it will work. There are just a few features that it does not have that the FBV Shortboard MkII has, such as Quick Loop functions and any USB functions. Thanks.
@IsoToXic28 Hi, Line 6 Support will definitely be able to help you out. Just go to the Line 6 website and at the top click on Support and you will find links to where you need to go. Thanks!
@Vzypen1 To use the Smart Harmony effect, first select Pitch Glide by turning the FX1 knob to the Pitch position. While the LCD displays the name Pitch Glide, turn the Presets knob to the right - Smart Harmony will replace it.

@sampark17 Hi, I would suggest first checking out Customtone and if you can't find it there, then come on over to the Line 6 forums and see if others have suggestions. Thanks.
great amp, thumbs up to Line 6 Engineers. Once i updated the software using Line 6 monkey, it added lots of more kool effects to my amp. I only wish they add "OCTAVE" effect to the wah option soon
Haha those who call this amp bad are really dumb... it takes time to achieve the tone you want on these amps cause the controls are so precise when you turn the knobs
I see video's like this with MIc's set up in front of the amp.....two questions...what purpose does that serve, and 2, where is the mic plugged in at?
@foxloner We use mics to capture the sound as accurately as we can for what you would hear if you were in the room with the amp and hearing it through the speakers. The mics are usually plugged into a Digital Audio Workstation like Pro Tools or Record.
great amp, thumbs up to Line 6 Engineers. Once i updated the software using Line 6 monkey, it added lots of more kool effects to my amp. I only wish they add "OCTAVE" effect to the wah option soon....
I'm just wondering. Is it possible to get the same tone on the Spider IV of the Spider III. ( insane mode). Or is the tone completely different between the 2 versions.
@ninjaslash55 This is possible. Activate the Pitch Glide effect, press the PRESETS button, using the 4 way switch, scroll down until you see FBV: DON'T CTRL and turn the PRESETS knob and set it to FBV: WAH – CTRL or VOL – CTRL.

Is there a way to play over you loop with a different preset? I'm having a problem where if i set the loop router to pre, after i record something i can only play over it with the same preset i used to record. If i set it to post, then i can play over it with a different preset, but after the 14 seconds theres a 2 second delay before the loop restarts which makes it hard to play over, so is there any way i can play over the loop with a different preset without the delay?
@lilpowner9 Yes. I will send you the link since I can't in the comments, but if you go to the Line6 Support forums there is a document on how to do it. Thanks.
please help me out I'm going to buy a spider IV 120w amp and I am going to buy FBV express mkII footswitch (the one with only 4 switches). Will I be able to dial in the smart harmony effect for the harmony while playing on stage with that footswitch (express mk II) and will I be able to do it on every channel I want ? Let's say I will be playing a lead tone (solo) and dial the harmony effect for it in the middle of the song ? I need an answer please.
@rangeritto You can save the pitch glide and smart harmony effects to any or all of the 4 channels that will be made available to you from the amp via your FBV Express MkII. You will have the ability to say, switch from patch A with no Smart Harmony saved, to patch B WITH the Smart Harmony saved in mid song.
Re Spider IV 75W amp. Just played a small garden party gig under a marquee. I've heard lots of folk saying they use these amps for small gigs but I was very disappointed with the volume. I had the channel and master volume cranked all the way up to max and was struggling a bit. I didn't realise that the Function 1 button gives a boost so I will try that next time. Is there any way you can make the patch volumes louder. lso Mr Line 6 I've already posted my questions on Line 6 and still no answer?
I have gone through the calibration process of pairing my FBV shortboard MkII controller with my Spider IV 75W combo. For some reason when I press on the wah the volume of my amp increases too much. Obviously once the wah kicks in I then have no control over the volume. Is there any way around this issue, perhaps a setting issue? I do have the Spider Edit software on my PC, is there a setting that needs adjusting. Also the volume pedal in the spider edit software is showing as POST???
@Hertsman50 Hi. If you visit our Line 6 Support team they will be able to go over how you've got everything going and help out. Just visit the line6 site and click on support. Thanks.

Your videos are brilliant, such great playing. I have already asked about the possibility of using a Line 6 Spider IV 150 head with the Marshall 1912 cabinet, is the Spider IV 150hd compatible? I haven't actually purchased the Line 6 Spider IV head. Do you think I would be better off with the Line 6 147 hd, can you get a foot controller for the Line 6 147 hd, would the Marshall 1912 be better suited with the Line 6 147hd? Please I'm desperate for help, any help greatly appreciated
@Hertsman50 You should double check the ohm load on the 1912 before buying the Spider. The Spider IV HD 150 is an 8ohm STEREO amplifier meaning that both sides need to be connected to a cabinet. It looks like the 1912 is an 8ohm mono cabinet. If you absolutely want to go with the 1912 then you may want to consider the HD147 as it has more options as far as cab connectivity goes. The FBV MkI and MkII pedals will work with the HD147.
If i buy another amp and i use a multisound board pedal, is it going to be the same thing as this amp can do? or the amp is really original and i can't find something like that anywhere? I Sell my Marshall MG100 for something smaller and an amp i will experiment sound, i don't really need these artists preset. So i really don't want to be disapointed. And The line 6 Spider IV seem great, but I'm still nearveous about buying it... Thank you
In this video it shows that you can operate the QUICK LOOP with the FBV Shortboard MkII OR with the FBV Express MkII. BUT, I have the FBV Express and the Spider IV 75 as well, and I could´t find a way to operate the loop using this foot controler. I think this video did wrong with this information... Corect me if I'm wrong line6.
@axistec I think you are saying that you have the FBV Express MkII? If that is correct then there is a great post in our Line 6 Support Forums that can help you out. I will PM you the link, but for future readers, just visit our site and here is the rest of the link: /community/message/109891
I really like what this amp has to offer. But geez, how difficult is it to include a Made In China 1-button footswitch to go between clean and dirty. Not everyone needs to luxury of a board that costs half of a Spider IV.
i got mine a week or 2 ago i like it well its a great amp its not as digital as everyone makes it out to be in my opinion you just turn 3 knobs on effects 16 amp models green and red i like it and i heard people say pedals suck on em wrong my crybaby sounded on my line 6 just like on my last amp which prob aint saying much but i also put my boss mega distortion 2 and i t sounds pretty good on it too butits pretty easy to mess with sounds pretty good one of my fav presets is for the love
They have to do a little with volume, but not much, 20 or 30 watts are enough for home use unless you wanna bring em' to gigs, then that's another story.
hey i think that this amp sound amazing and the effects on it look incrediable as well as the presets. But i am getting a digitech rp90 which is a multi effects pedal and i was wondering... do i need an effects pedal if i get this amp. someonr please reply soon.
all versions sound exactly the same..the 30 watt sounds just like the bigger ones...the only difference is the bigger ones go much louder...i got the 75 watt version
Pick up a Tascam Fireone, they are cheap, solid and easy to use. That will allow you to digitize your signal into something your Mac can understand. There are lots of other Firewire interfaces, but this one is perfect for 1 or 2 input use.
should i get a line 6 spider IV hd150 or a peavey 6505+ ? because i heard that line 6 amps ar only really good for plaing on your own in your room and they dont sound good live
I can vouch for that, had a Flextone III and you don't want to gig with these things. The sounds seem far more subject to EQ'ing problems than tube amps. And they crap out at the MOST inopportune moments.
What song is being played as an example for the pitch glide affect?

Do you think I would be better off with the Line 6 147 hd, can you get a foot controller for the Line 6 147 hd, would the Marshall 1912 be better suited with the Line 6 147hd? Please I'm desperate for help, any help greatly appreciated
Hertsman50 1 year ago
@Hertsman50 You should double check the ohm load on the 1912 before buying the Spider. The Spider IV HD 150 is an 8ohm STEREO amplifier meaning that both sides need to be connected to a cabinet. It looks like the 1912 is an 8ohm mono cabinet. If you absolutely want to go with the 1912 then you may want to consider the HD147 as it has more options as far as cab connectivity goes. The FBV MkI and MkII pedals will work with the HD147.

Hi, I'm getting a Spider IV 30w and I just want to know the weight of the amp, pleas answer me it would help me a lot.
Kyosho445 1 year ago
Gonna buy a Spider IV 30. It goes for like 1825 Swedish Kr that's like 221 dollars so it's really cheap.

what is better Digitech Rp1000, or this?

Corect me if I'm wrong line6.
axistec 1 year ago
@axistec I think you are saying that you have the FBV Express MkII? If that is correct then there is a great post in our Line 6 Support Forums that can help you out. I will PM you the link, but for future readers, just visit our site and here is the rest of the link: /community/message/109891

is each amp model the same in terms of effects and that the only difference is the watts?
colashanacogh 1 year ago
@colashanacogh from the 75 up they all have the same features, but these features aren't available on the lower ones
moreilly914 1 year ago
I really like what this amp has to offer. But geez, how difficult is it to include a Made In China 1-button footswitch to go between clean and dirty. Not everyone needs to luxury of a board that costs half of a Spider IV.

@filmmakingjoe They do its 34.99 at guitar center

Why would you go for a high watt amp?
What does the Watts have to do with anything?
ExLxExMxExNxT 2 years ago
They have to do a little with volume, but not much, 20 or 30 watts are enough for home use unless you wanna bring em' to gigs, then that's another story.
carlosewm 2 years ago
was thinking of buying the 15 watt version, would anyone recommend this amp as a first proper amp to buy?
Grimaldus1989 2 years ago
Well, this isn't really an ûber pro-amp.
I recommend the Line 6 Spider Valve 212.
The biggest one of them...

Think im gonna buy the 75w version, but all the people talking shit about the L6spiders makes me nervous :S
1fetoch1ful 2 years ago
If you want cleans, go for it. But get the cheapest one, because they all sound the same.
If you want distortion, they are terrible. You don't even need the effects.
JacobP2008 2 years ago
can i plug this amp into a mac and use garage band to record my music?
20GATE91 2 years ago
You'll need some sort of recording interface but you can run the direct out from the amp into that and record directly into GarageBand.
line6movies 2 years ago
Pick up a Tascam Fireone, they are cheap, solid and easy to use. That will allow you to digitize your signal into something your Mac can understand. There are lots of other Firewire interfaces, but this one is perfect for 1 or 2 input use.

should i get a line 6 spider IV hd150 or a peavey 6505+ ? because i heard that line 6 amps ar only really good for plaing on your own in your room and they dont sound good live
GrapesAreFun100 2 years ago
6505+. But you might need a power attenuator to bring it down to a decent level in the bedroom.
JacobP2008 2 years ago
I can vouch for that, had a Flextone III and you don't want to gig with these things. The sounds seem far more subject to EQ'ing problems than tube amps. And they crap out at the MOST inopportune moments.
laughingboy0068 2 years ago
to use the wah do u need a pedal board or just the amp
guitarmaster76853 2 years ago
You'll need a pedal in order to use the wah with this amp.
line6movies 2 years ago
Line 6 still hasn't figured out something that could be called a wah effect. The wah built in are all very sucky. Get a wah pedal.
laughingboy0068 2 years ago
the wah actually kicks ass! just hating because you can't buy this amp...

i just got the 120 watt version of this its fukin sick

can you control the wah with the express pedal?

Yes. That is how it is intended to work.
line6movies 2 years ago
Digital modelling came of age with the latest series of processors - X3 series - newer Digitech and Zoom G series.....
They are all capable of delivering 3D esque sounds. This amp looks sweet.
