The hatch and the button is another great example. It's not WHAT was the button all about and why was it so important to be pushed? The writers brought it into the show to bring out the show's central theme of science vs. faith. It does not necessarily represent a thing but it serves to represent the show's main issues.
In this way everything you see in Lost other than the characters themselves stems from them - the conflict, turbulence on the outside ultimately reflects internal drama.
Locke's visions of the plane crash which resulted in Boone's death made Locke experience the pain of being betrayed and used by something he had placed huge faith in - an issue which Anthony Cooper had provided him with long ago in his past. Such random instances ultimately served to show just how much of a victim Locke was - eventually by the man in black more importantly.
The way i look at it is all the weird stuff on the island that there is little answers for all came out of the writers thinking - how can this island provide character conflict?
The island offered up whatever issues the characters brought with them.
Jack saw his dead father so his daddy issues could be explored.
Kate saw a horse that would remind her of how she began her troubled past.
Sawyer heard whispers that enhanced his guilt for killing Frank Duckett.
@Moollii Sayid's "infection" may not have existed at all. The issue was that Sayid was being made to believe he was evil and he acted under such a title - this was Sayid's conflict. He let people tell him what he was and he just believed they were right - he had no faith in himself after loosing Nadia. Mainly why Shannon reminded him of a time when he was noble and heroic and redeeming himself.
Charlie's weird visions were a result of his "taking care of others" issue which hindered his past.
@Moollii Claire's psychic telling her to raise Aaron alone and that he needed her protection was nothing more than exploring Claire's deeper issues - her mother had raised HER alone and had suffered the butt end of her irresponsibility. The 'raising Aaron' alone business really was meant to shock Claire into facing up to her guilt so that she could actually atone for what she did and understand just how her mother had felt.
@Moollii Boone's visions of Shannon dying explored his deep desire to be free of the burden she held over him and enabled him to let go.
Shannon's visions of Walt and her quest to find him with little belief from others in what she was doing was meant to explore how nobody in her life had ever believed in her, they had told her she was incapable of doing anything good. It doesn't matter that it was Walt. What matters it that it forced Shannon into a scenario where she could redeem herself.
@Moollii The weird consciousness shifts Desmond experienced in The Constant explored how like many of the survivors, no matter how confusing their lives may become, love is what anchors us and helps us survive. It was just presented in a sci-fi format to some degree but the message was very clear from that phone call :'(

I guess many just wanted it to be resolved in a way that could have explained everything i.e everyone was in a mental hospital or dreaming etc. which really would have undermined the whole emotional journey and made it all pointless. It may have satisfied the answers and questions department but really would have been contrary to the characters' stories.

honestly i hated the final episode of lost. Lost has left more questions than answers. many unanswered questions like the smoke monster, why the numbers gave hurley bad luck, why did the numbers made him win the lottery, why were the numbers encrypted on the hatch, why was dharma still sending their food to desmond even after the dharma people were gassed, why the whispers or where they come from, the visions who were they where they came from??????????????????? i hated the final episode

If you actually pay attention to the stories of the characters you realise it makes up a huge part of what makes Lost both unique and great.
Great job.I agree with some of the posts below. Much more than just a tv show... Almost an existential treatment on how to try and live your life. I think LOST should be viewed and approached more like a mythological opus full of metaphors you can interpret anyway you like. People that were angry about a lack of answers should think about the works of Virgil, Homer, the bible even. Most questions that are worth asking simply don't have a cut and dry answer. Greatest show ever.

This is possibly the most powerful promo I've ever seen, I was crying. Lost has brought so much to our hearts and minds & we will never forget what it's opened us up to, making us actually reevaluate our lives...not ever tv show can do that, and LOST is the ONLY tv show that's done it for me!

After recently watching the amazing final season. One thing still confuses me about Jack's son, as Locke states he never existed and you never see him at the end.

Okay so I need some answers. What IS the island, I understand why they were all brought there, and why is it that Kate, james, Claire were there and not the captian, and miles? Was it because Kate James and Claire had something to go to the church too? If so then that doesn't make sense because that means the Captain and Miles die too, yet the plane flew over jack, and Kate and Sawyer and Claire are in the same place. God this is confusing. Why is Hurley and Ben there? They didn't die. And

And Miles and Lapidus were in the flash sideways, and they will move on with their own group of people whom they spent the most important part of their lives with. Everyone has their own group. And Hurley and Ben did die, eventually. The flash sideways takes place sometime after everyone dies. It's somewhat of a purgatory, before they can move on to Heaven or somewhere like it. And Jack and Juliet's child, David, was not real.

@LOSTmyfriends I get that feeling all the time. No matter how fantastical its narrative may become, the issues and characters are really believable and relatable especially Season 1, 2 and 3 with flashbacks. Re-watching Season 1 when it is so simple, character drama based and beautifully minimal - you feel like you yourself are part of this community. End of Season 6 with all characters together again reflected that original family which we loved so much beautifully.

This is possibly the most powerful promo I've ever seen, I was crying. Lost has brought so much to our hearts and minds & we will never forget what it's opened us up to, making us actually reevaluate our lives...not ever tv show can do that, and LOST is the ONLY tv show that's done it for me!

6 years ago i was in school, learning my addition. Today, I watched 6 years of my life gone by, and I was in the cast, a survivor, lost in the story. lost is without a doubt the show that i'll never forget

After recently watching the amazing final season. One thing still confuses me about Jack's son, as Locke states he never existed and you never see him at the end.

wtf is up with Jacks dad? and What happened to Jack and Juliettes kid? Why is this so confusing I really don't like the way they ended it, what happened to Jacob? I mean I understand why they didnt tell us what actually happened with the bright light at the end because they are trying to open our minds to think butstill. And omg why is the dog left alone? That's so lame I cried. Anyways can someone PLEASE help me?

@xoparadisecityox And Jacob died. And the the dog, Vincent, was left with Bernard and Rose. He was just with Jack so he would not die alone in the woods, and he was the first thing Jack saw on the island, as well as the last thing. The story of LOST made a full circle. It was not a lame ending, it was a rather epic ending, if you ask me.

Okay so I need some answers. What IS the island, I understand why they were all brought there, and why is it that Kate, james, Claire were there and not the captian, and miles? Was it because Kate James and Claire had something to go to the church too? If so then that doesn't make sense because that means the Captain and Miles die too, yet the plane flew over jack, and Kate and Sawyer and Claire are in the same place. God this is confusing. Why is Hurley and Ben there? They didn't die. And

@xoparadisecityox - The island is simply that, an island. And Miles and Lapidus were in the flash sideways, and they will move on with their own group of people whom they spent the most important part of their lives with. Everyone has their own group. And Hurley and Ben did die, eventually. The flash sideways takes place sometime after everyone dies. It's somewhat of a purgatory, before they can move on to Heaven or somewhere like it. And Jack and Juliet's child, David, was not real.

@LOSTmyfriends I get that feeling all the time. No matter how fantastical its narrative may become, the issues and characters are really believable and relatable especially Season 1, 2 and 3 with flashbacks. Re-watching Season 1 when it is so simple, character drama based and beautifully minimal - you feel like you yourself are part of this community. End of Season 6 with all characters together again reflected that original family which we loved so much beautifully.

@Moollii I know! i'm with both of you. This six years of watching the show has had me balling all the time. This video was very well done Outstanding work. I got so invested in the characters the ending was sooo perfect bringing the back together. I still have PLSD. Post lost stress disoder. I can't seem to stop watching youtube lost fan videos. This show has become like this defineing 6 years of my life.

@LOSTmyfriends but the actors and actresses do sutch a good job acting that they are believable and at some parts make you feel like you are in the scene(s) like season one they werent that believe able but in seasons 3 4 5 and 6 they got right into it

I was totally disappointed with the way it ended.
Well the great mystery or the big reveal was the answer of something which was introduced in season 6.
Sad, I should have given up on Lost after season 1 like I did for Flash Forward and Fringe.
I might need therapy now.

WHAT AN ADVANTURE......... i thought ending wasnt good. it was more about canidate and the stupid island. who the fuck give a shit about the island. they should of make it more about life or love. they were in a good position to do it. but no. but i am suprise they plan everything out in season 6 since season 3 and 4. amazing. i didn't like the finale @ all! wat did it mean!? they died n met in after life? so how come their life continued in the whole season6 as if the plane didn't crash? how come jack had a son n !!!was married to juliet!!! where were they going in the end? wat happened to others that died in the island?(Michael, Walt, the married couple that were barried alive). Did the island really exist after all?
