I like Rodintube's comment! you said what I feel I wanted to say too :)... I'll quote the sender: Valentina - you have the most relaxed hands in the piano playing history... Great we have you in our world <3
i guess it is very late as she played with her pyjama. Lang lang is such a leprechaun compared to her. She is really the Jimi Hendrix from Classic. It is like when overdrive came to life in the 60ties.
i´m a guitar player who go tired of it and then discovered the piano, at the age of 26 (well i always loved the piano but never knew i could play with some creativity into it, no genious like you valentina eheh) and then i discovered this great pianist playing this great composer...
this video looks like you got out of the bed at 4am and had to play, just had to do it!!
This is a true artist, pianist, that interprets the works of a great musician. That makes her a great master as well. A great interpreter of a great universal language. Understand the psychology of the works?
Where on earth can I find the sheet music for this and for the second concerto without it being for two pianos and orchestra?. You have really inspired me to learn these amazing masterpieces. It would be a dream come true for me to have my technique becomes as good as yours!
V - forgot to mention, when you come to Hong Kong, pleeease do a masterclass!!! I'm a crap student (teaching myself Rach 2 among others - see my horrible recording), practice once a month, but would totally get a second wind if I could watch a masterclass.
V - Lovin the pajama performances!!! :))) Tell your friend HH that she's gotta put more stuff up on youtube. I think you're doing the right thing... sharing your talents with as many people as possible in whatever medium possible.... and in time, they'll seek you and find you in concert. Speaking of which... be sure to plan a trip through Hong Kong so I can catch you live! All the best, r
I saw Valentina play in a small church last night (21 Nov 09) in Alexandria, DC. Rach sonata no1 was on the programme, but at last moment she said she was to play Rach 3 without orchestra instead! It was amazing....Valentina - please put this on YouTube!!!!!
Whoa, you saw Valentina play Rach 3? How did her cadenza sound in the first movement? Did she play the ossia version of the cadenza? Your a lucky guy Isaac, would have loved to see her play Rach 3 in a small setting like a church. Wow!
Beautiful interpretation of this seldom-performed concerto. I hope one day she'll consider performing the three piano concertos of Bortkiewicz as well as his lovely solo piano works. Brava Lisitsa!
Do you play the piano concertos of Nikolai Medtner? They are well worth the effort and are equally as appealing as any of Rachmaninov's. I hope the recordings go as well as you hope.
As a kid I listened to this concerto over and over again with - Byron Janis - what a wonderful pianist. In my dreams i see you with Bruno Walter or Ormandy or something.
Rachmaninoff was so hurt when the premier didn't go anywhere. Such a great work, you play so beautifully!
@PhilPhilUSA You too?! I had that recording as a kid, and it had a profound impression on me. I still have it -- but on CD now. Lisitsa can easily take Byron's place -- she's wonderful.
dear Val random, but you should record prelude in C# minor, i was suprised i couldnt find one of you playing it, i would love to see how you play that.
When will the CD come out???

The 1st Rachmaninov Concerto is a jewel, like the 4th, less known but just sublime. Valentina, your playing here is simply heavenly
- I confess I nearly cried at 2:10 and onto 3:35. Thank You. Hope to see you in Italy soon.

Todavía no entiendo como es que le va mal al mastro Rachmaninoff con esta obra tan pero tan hermosa! Increible.

These pieces would be good as sonatas without the rest of the instruments getting in the way.

You should do this with the Rach 4. Great concerto that's as underplayed as this one. Rachmaninoff's sonorities are what make him so great.

I must confess I don't really know this concerto hence I have no yardstick but I can tell this is absolutely electrifying & staggering.
Valentina is well known and admired in the piano clique as it is. I expect world renown arising from this recording project.
