  • Ja, en toe gaan De Klerk en sy luitenante, Meyer en Wessels en maak al die goeie werk van die weermag ongedaan en bied die land op 'n skinkbord aan die vyand.

  • Great picture used as a backdrop from about 3:30 until 4:40, however it's not SADF, the blokes with the T-55 are Rhodesian Army.

  • @MonkeyBoyDrinksVat69 Yeah Thanks, I knew that already, but I liked the picture and Rhodesia got them from SA anyways.

  • My brother was killed in Cuito Cuanavale. He was with the Special Recce.

  • @iredes11van Respect to him

  • good vid i hate fucking cubans they were poisonous pieces of shit that helped bring weapons and money and propaganda into angola way before the war in 87, during the colonial times they were there already looking to create guerrilas and destroy the country, a disgusting country that was bankrupt and wanted to make others aswell, i know unita won the war with south africa the usa then pulled the plug on unita helping mpla kill savimbi because they know mpla are corrupt and let them suck angola

  • @ukusapillage,,I'm from Cuba, and like you,I hate the cuban, but the goverment, not the people. Many of all those Cuban were forced to go there. In Cuba, the service in the Army is obligatory. There are stories of people that were supodsely flying to a military base, and in the air ,they were informed the plane was heading to Angola. The other thing is the brain whashing. In those years, people were so confused, they thought were helping the " the opressed people of Angola and Namibia".

  • @ukusapillage However, nowdays, only the high ranked people close to the goverment, or Army officers, talk about the " glorious days " of Angola.People have realized they were used by the goverment. Don't think that people wear their medals or something like that with pride. For almost all cubans that took part in that, is a gray chapter in their lives. Many lives wasted for nothing, but political reasons. Ethiopia is another example. We were there for the wrong reasons, our gov. lied to us.

  • @ukusapillage I like to enter here and watch this videos, I want to hear the other part story. That our gov. has been hidding for years. Do you know something about people chained to the tanks? I read something but wasn't clear. I really think both sides fought fierce, but like always, the claps goes to the leaders. Not the failures, so someone has to pay for it. Anyways, someday the wounds will heal, and freedom will come to my people.

  • I wish I was there to defend my country. Those SADF blokes should be very proud. I was too young. I did appyship instead after school in '96! 1 "moerse" party - a great time.. but something was always missing.

Now, 15 yrs on, I'm in GB, winter's close. I'm watching some old U-Tube clip with a bottle of Chenet in my new, cozy, 3-storey home. But I try: My biltong hangs in my garage, my pap & braai is ready & the steaks are marinated - lekker braai julle! Proudly South African - 94139458 PJ

  • The fact is that Ochoa-Sanchez was executed because he was not only dealing drugs, but also diamonds and ivory on the black market. Castro was also extremely envious and jealous of him because he was so beloved by the troopies for looking after their welfare. Many of the Cuban/MPLA/ Russians were to busy stealing and pilfering and selingtheir ill gotten gainonthe blackmartket.

  • @etowahman1 "" I agree with this. However, I'm not pretty sure the cuban goverment had no idea what was going on. I was a child in Cuba when Ochoa was executed, but people always thought was unfair...and that were "other " reasons more than drugs. Even nowdays ,people talk about general Ochoa with respect.

  • Good video, except General Sanchez was executed for putting Cuba at risk by allowing drug drops to be carried out by drug lords on Cuban territory &,for that reason he was tried for treason against Cuba and executed on the 13 July 1989.

  • @azanianlion That's just communist propaganda to disguise the fact that he lost in Angola.

  • @azanianlion He might have done it but the execution was for Angola, they just needed another reason they could use - because they couldn't admit they lost.

  • @Trafalgar8766 sure we gave them a hiding to remember but I doubt very much he was executed for the Angola blunder,in fact he was due to be promoted to commander of the western army which included the capital of Cuba.Whilst doing the normal security clearance for that position it came to their attention that he was involved with drug lords, which meant it gave the USA a moral reason to attack Cuba as they had donepreviously in Panama.

  • @azanianlion Doubt very much?! Cuba was trying to help Africa become Communist and show Cuba's military strength on the World stage and Sanchez was in command of the forces when they failed so drastically - Much more of a reason than a supposed drugs charge (with or without the implied US threat) - Fidel needed another reason to get rid of him rather than admit defeat in Angola.

  • @azanianlion The Cuban Gobernment lied about the real reason why Ochoa was shot, they used drugs as an excuse to frame the General, the real reason was that Ochoa was setting a Coup to overthrown Castro's gobernment.Fidel and Raul those two assholes were involved in The drug trade themselves, when the DEA find out.Castro used Ochoa as a escape goat and shot him.Ochoa himself was part of this hateful communist regime.

  • @submariner200 Sorry buddy, your point is pathetic. The drug issue started with US authorities claim that Cuban territory was being used to pass drugs into the US.

  • Good video and thank you for the hard facts. There is a lot of misinformation about the campaign on the net these days. 61 Mech kicked 21 Brigs arse properly!

  • What is the name of this song?? Please tell me....

  • @zerocker45 Vyster by Lloyd Ross its the theme song to the show Vyster

  • @Trafalgar8766 Where can i get it?? it is no in youtube...

  • @zerocker45 i got it off a torrent from isohunt - if you type in South African or Afrikaans (or something similar) music into the search bar it should come up - its part of a massive download of about 200 or more songs but its there, if you know of a way of e-mailing songs i would be happy to do so

  • @Trafalgar8766 COOL MUSIC MAN! Thanks for uncovering the truth!

  • @zerocker45 Vyfster - from the old Afrikaans TV series

  • @zerocker45 vyf ster

  • @edgar961404411 I never said it lasted years - get your facts straight!

  • Now the Angolan government ruled by the Marxist Cuban engendered MPLA has turned its back in its old "companheiros"(mates) in Cuba and has sold its 'soul' to the Capitalists of Red China.

    Ironic, isn't it?

UNITA and the SAAF are an example that blacks and whites can work for a common good(fighting Communism).

  • Anyone who has not taken the time to read previous comments - I know the tank crew is Rhodesian, i knew that when I made the video, I know that now, and I will still know it in the future - I used it because it captured the idea of the SADF that I wanted to get across (South Africa did use the same tanks, they were the ones who gave them to Rhodesia) - I have not decided on whether or not to keep it. Thank you.

  • How can somebody not be sure about who won that fight?i was on vacation in luanda and even there everybody was talking about the cubans/mpla's loss. and the last thing that those cubans and mpla's soldiers wanted to hear was the s.african bufallo batallion i heard mpla soldiers talking about it and they were sacared.

  • basop vir die 155 toe die die G5 en G6 uit gekom om te speel was daar net k@k

    SADF kicked ass

  • ha ha ha there is a ridiculous censure in this page....

  • @alfrismar no censure - only making sure lies and propaganda aren't posted

  • @alfrismar were you there

  • I was there, one of the first in and one of the last out, there are so many videos that claim Cuban victory this one is fact all the way through. Thanks for posting it, I lost friends in Angola, during this operation and others. To all those who deny the SADF victory, you are wrong we cam we saw we kicked ass.

  • I am not so sure that the Cubans were also somewhat hamstrung when it came to air power? They should of had air superiority, however if they showed it the west would have allowed SA to obtaine a better position by allowing better aircraft etc? Just a guess? I have no doubts that the west should have done far more for petoria then it did.

  • @Beeba1 no cuba had the best russian could give it... cuba had complete air supremicy, however their piltos where badly trained and kept to a high altitude which made their bombing inefective. also we had good intelligence and had recce forces watching the airport, as soon as jets took off we moved, tehy often bomded places we'd just left.

  • Well whiterose69 are you watching ????

  • Angola was much better when it was a colony of Portugal. There was peace in the land. But communists destroyed that peace.

  • Pedrom41, the Video clearly states that 31 SADF soldiers died in the battle, not the entire war.

    Oh, and check your spelling.

  • "FACTS"? Ten years long war and you only lost 31? Was the people you were fighting against shooting plastic bullets or you just happen to have unpanetrable flesh? Damn liar!!!

  • @pedrom41 Get your facts straight - this video (as the title shows) is only about the BATTLE of the Cuito Cuanavale, and the war wasn't 10 years long anyways it lasted from 1966 until 1989. Get YOUR facts right.

  • @Trafalgar8766 one question if cuito battle was so successful why did south africa leave namibia? sorry about my bad english

  • South Africa did not want Angola, Southwest Africa, and the rest of Africa to become dominated by Communist Russian and Cuban forces - victory for South Africa at Cuito Cuanavale secured these objectives and forced Cuba to the negotiating tables in the USA, despite the fact South Africa were winning the war and would have kept winning if it had continued, they did not want to continue a long war that had all ready lasted since 1966

  • @letnor16ll SA told the UN they would leave as soon as cuba and russian left... before the battle cuba and russian refused to leave... after the battle they withdrew all troops from anglo, so SA left... we achieved what we set out to do... force both cuba and russian out of angola..... what what these idiots didnt know was russian and cuba wanted angola as a puppet state controlled by them. we stopped that.

  • @letnor16ll When the cold war ended the communist threat ceased to be a threat to the west and therefore Washington changed their policies about an Angola and we ( SA) were compelled to change ours about SWA,basically we were no longer needed as the foot soldiers of the west. Thus a settlement was reached. Strangely enough our defense minister, the late General Malan was booked on Panam flight 103 which went down over Lockerbie, fortunatrely he chose not to be on that flight.

  • @pedrom41 lol you should really read something correctly prior to making false statements, as it just makes you look ignorant

  • @pedrom41... No the people we were fighting against were useless........lol...and that is a fact...ummmm come to think of it ,they still pretty useless.... if you have a look at their country, it a real 3rd world shit hole...lol.

  • @pedrom41 dont argue, he knows that he is lying,

  • @pedrom41 They lost only 31 soldiers and I have confirmed through multiple accounts, teh south african had a screen of superb artillery the G5 artillery displayed by them in that battle outclassed every obsolete artillery ww2 pieces displayed by the cubans and angolan forces.

  • @pedrom41 A) it was longer than 10 years, this video only shows on year, and yes we only lost 31 in that year. B) in the entire war we lost just over 700....Cuba over 10000..... russian unknown, and the rest... well way more than 10000.....

  • @pedrom41 Do u know the difference between a WAR and a BATTLE ? Please, tohse 31 tanks u mention were the SA losses in that given battle. Not in loooong 10-yrs-war. Ok ?

  • @pedrom41, wake up idiot.

  • @pedrom41 He was refering to that battle only.

  • Thank u to all those SA troops!!!

  • great vid, shows the world that we could kick some communist ass

  • Its a crying shame wat happened to South Africa. The people who built the nation have had to give up thier own way of living. It was inevitable the US could not publicly support the SA gov., but i cannot see turning thier backs totally. Iam sure thier was assisatance for the SADF, weapons, intel, etc. in this war. I hope so. Iam an American, and from wat I know the Cubans got thier azzes booted outta Africa. Cheers, Trafalgar8766 [good vid!]

  • @BookerT48 Yeah, the US gave quite alot of weapons to South Africa and, like the UK, resisted putting large scale embargoes on South Africa longer than most nations. US support though wasnt always total, in 1975 during the invasion of Angola, SADF forces were only a few miles from Luanda (the capital) and the US pulled its covert support for the invasion and S Africa had to withdraw. Thanks for the comment!

  • @Trafalgar8766

Would that explain why I kept on seeing 240B like machine guns in SADF photos from the 80's?

  • @lipovan87 probably - i really just chose the photos to best suit the feeling and spirit of the SADF! Thanks

  • @BookerT48 If you can get a book called "High Noon In Southern Africa" By Chester A. Crocker. It will explain a few things more clearly. Chester Crocker was the Assistant Secretary of African Affairs for Ronald Reagan's Administration, and was very involved in the whole story from '81 to '89. So it really is a very dependable source of info. Hope that helps. Cheers.

  • well... cubans/castro are still fighting this war at home... hope they loose... and democracy prevails in cuba. Only then they can they are winners...

  • Good vid!

  • well... cubans/CASTRO is still trying to win this war at home... hope he looses it and democracy can prevail in Cuba soon.

  • Great tune. What's the song called?

I absolutely love it everytime these commie and terrorist monkeys got their ass kicked by free world forces.

  • @sfaaa1 Thanks bru! We need more people like you in the World! The song is Vyster, by Lloyd Ross. I was able to download it from a torrent off isohunt, if you want it i can try and find the torrent again. Cheers mate.

  • Well on this video,I'm going to make a comment..The numbers are the following (SA) 31 soldiers Killed,90 wounded,UNITA.250 soldiers killed.SWATF 12 soldiers killes.FAPLA and Cuban forces 7,000 killed.(SA) Equipment.1,Mirage airplane lost,1 Spotter airplane lost,3 Olifant tanks destroyed.4 Ratels Destroyed.Cuban/Fapla equipment losses.8 MIG23,4MIG21,2 SU 22,8 helicopters,94 Tanks.94 BMP 1,2 BTS transporters,4 M 46 130 mm guns,11 D 30 122 mm guns,33 BMP 21,3 BM 14, 7 SAM 8 systems,5 SAM 13 systems

  • @J1slaa1k yeah thanks bru, couple of people have noticed it - i'll change it soon, life's just been crazy - thanks for the spot! :)

  • I love this vid, the music everything about it.

  • @8deSPOOK Fantastic put together...so much that we were involved with but actually new so little about :-/...it seems- stumbled across this from something I found on FB, I mean who new these figgers and stuff, all we talked about was ;) P-P-P-P-P-P remember? and thats something that prob wont come up on google! For two years...

  • Boer se kind ha ha!!

  • marck0938 Dont play the playmobil intellectual tin soldier. The only thing you can do is to repeat in a Tony Montana English: "I hate politics because I'm a soldier, I'm a soldier, I hate communism, ...»".

You're worse than a schizophrenic Nazi. Dont you realize that if the Nuremberg laws would have been applied after 1945, all U.S. presidents would have been hung for genocide, bombing civilians, abductions, torture, or did you already forget Abou Ghraib in Iraq.

  • Good video, this is the real story about cuito cuanavale, this is not the communist video crapp invented by the commies.

  • "G5`s The big guns came out to play

    G5`s The big show stopper

The G5 and the boys get my thumps up

G5 155 mm howitzer you got to love them guns

G5 kick ass at Cuito Cuanavale"

  • I was reading up on this. This battle was part of the Angolan Civil War, right? (Something like that?) It seems Cuba learned the hard way not to mess with America considering all of the losses the Cubans had. Did the Cubans, if you know, wear the same uniform as they did in the Cuban Revolution? The reason I'm asking is because I'm just curious, if you don't mind answering.

  • the Americans didn't play much of a role in Cuito, they gave some weapons to UNITA, stingers mainly for counter the MiG threat

  • Hope all you fckers saying negitive things bout this was there for real else... you're just a bunch of regular idiots that wanna say something to be diff!!!!!! (form sum reason ;-) )

  • Imperium Europa:

The Book that changed the world.

    Amazon Books

  • fuckin shame RHODESIA became ZIMBABWE, and even worse wat happened to proud, tough S. Africans, who usually were at a numerical disadvantage..we really could use that kind of SOLDIER now...Godspeed you tough mother fuckers!!! Trafalgar very well done, i gotta give you ur props..

  • Thanks bru!

  • respect and admiration of all Spaniards to SADF they stop the comunist expansion in Africa

  • All Spaniards know perfectly well that was a BIG VICTORY of South Africans against slave force of comunism is expansion in Africa those days..

  • Wow the Cubans got badly thrashed here

    Well done SADF

  • So Trafalgar8766 taking you point of view the dismounting of the apartheid 5 years later and the rise of Nelson Mandela as president was also part of the SA strategy. Sorry, it is difficult for me to believe it.

  • The dismantling of Apartheid and Mandela (a terrorist) becoming president was a result of the appeaser FW de Klerk looking to appease liberal westerners and communist black african leaders - SA strategy to end communism and keep an African country running well for all ended with de Klerk

  • @Trafalgar8766 Agreed...de Klerk was a traitor to the West in general and to South African whites in particular. The United States and Europe bear a heavy guilt for trying to force South Africa to dismantle it's culture and civilization in favor of the communist psycopaths of the ANC.

  • @alagentleman1 well put bru!

  • Apartheid ended because communism had lost, their was no real reason y support for apartheid should continue, so America and tht western world simply disinvested in South Africa, we rwent into debt , due to economic reasons apartheid ended and not because the SADF lost and the liberation movements won, MK were a joke lol

  • F.W. de Klerk gave the South Africans the choice of continuing Apartheid or introducing one man one vote.

  • Hey Lekkernaaf jammer om te hoor van jou vid.

  • Communist Pigs

  • I'm glad the truth surfaced after years of lies,if you read this article in wikipedia it shows different numbers, you can tell the article was made by communist due to the bunch of lies that are said about this subject, the cubans even filmed a movie in which they show themselves as victors,it is real pathetic for more information about this communist lie, watch the movie "CARAVANA" made by the commies.

  • It's sad to read so much propaganda written and claimed about the war. Where was America at that time ??? Did they supply the SADF with ANY material ??

Now US wants other nations to 'pull out the potato from the fire'. Look at Iraq & Afganistan today ! Why don´t the US go into Iran for a change. They would get a hiding just as in '79 ( Carter Admin.)

Look at REVOLUTION AND BETRAYAL IN SOUTH AFRICA @ YouTube and than make a judgement.

  • If only the world saw the truth, then without those sanctions, economic backing and support from overseas would have seen south africa's small army push those swapo and mpla forces into congo. by the end of the war, south africa would have owned all of southern africa. oh what could have being if America werent the complete idiots that they are.

  • These stupid negroids of the M.P.L.A. thought that Cuba was "selflessly", without any interest at all helping them against UNITA, when in fact the Soviet Union was tremendously interested in Angola´s oil fields. Now, the MPLA gov. has left Cuba at one side and taken China´s and the U.S.A.´s side instead.

Now it is Cuba that was taken advantage of, their old angolan buddies don´t give a fuck about Cuba anymore. The old Marxist MPLA members now are the "new rich" bourgeoisie in Luanda.

  • And somewhere in between no doubt lies the truth. Thanks for remembering us Mr Trafalgar. Don't you want to tidy it up a bit - spelling, grammar, and pictures - so that it can be a fitting reminder for those we left behind ? toe nou!

  • Sorry about any grammatical mistakes, I don't remember seeing any, but Id really appreciate if I you could point them out, because I want to make this a fitting tribute! I'll try to tidy some of the pictures but i must admit that my movie making abilities aren't spectacular - I'm learning. So any help will be really appreciated! Thanks!

  • @Trafalgar8766 - excellent video and tribute! One little pointer - the tank and crew shown at 3.36 to 4.42 are actually Rhodesian Army, not South African Army - possibly worth replacing with another picture...

  • yeah, thanks for that, I've been trying to find another picture, because when I made it I knew It was Rhodesian but it was the kind of message and image I wanted to get across, but I've since thought I need to change it! Thanks, if you have any suggestions e-mail me the hyperlink!!

  • @Trafalgar8766 ya, and I took the picture! Damn - I hate how the I-net can do that.

  • I'm doing a project about Angolas history. If anyone would like to help me alittle I would be very thankful!

  • @lolRiku Please read about Portuguese West Africa In Wikipedia.

  • 3:50 Those like Rhodesian tank crews, not South African.

  • Yea cheers, as i said before the Rhodesians got the tanks for South Africa and the picture is what I wanted to say! thanks!

  • No worries - we're all cut from the same cloth ;o)

  • The official opening of the SADF Wall of Remembrance well take place at the Voortrekkers Monument Cultural Terrain at 09H00 for 09H50 on Sunday 25 Oct 2009.

calling all SADF veterans families + friends Honour our Fallen Soldiers

please come and Pay Your Repect

(The SADF Wall of Remembrance was mostly funded by charity and not by the govermment)

20 years is a long time my friend it is time we Honour our Fallen Brave SADF Brothers

WE WILL NOT FORGET YOU MAY YOU ALL REST IN PEACE

  • Hello Guys...... I do not wanna sound intrusive or even rude.... But I you guys wont the Cuito Cuanavale Battle, why you do your army retread, afterwards ???

And started that process of leaving the Namibia and finishing we the apartheid ....

Its was not suppose to be other way around ???

Can some one clarify me please, I am a bit confuse !

    Thanks in advance !

  • Put it simply, South Africa did not want Communism to spread around Southern Africa, so when it was safe that Namibia was not going Communist it was safe to leave. Furthermore, South African Armies did not leave immediately they left a few years later. Furthermore, Cuba also withdrew their troops and retreated from Angola. South Africa could not reveal too much due to the international opposition to the army being in Angola.

  • Kekuya...ever since the war began it was never the intention to invade Angola .since the first ops back in the 70's the SADF went in to Angola ...achieved its goals than pulled out again ,the same is true for the last ops of the war as well. This was a counterinsurgency war, not a conventional war were wars are won by ground conquered. The fall of comunisim back in 1988 caused the war to come to a close .....

  • Cool and interesting video, I was still a youngster at that time but real men are you guys in that war.

  • Thanks! Like you i was too young, but those soldiers are real men!

  • I'm a 32 veteran, and makes me laugh to see how Russian and Cuban military claimed victory overall! Once, they even just walked into a basecamp, thinking we were Russian-Cuban, laughing and all happy chappy... Till they were told to lay down their arms! LMAO.... They were plain simple STUPID! Pity South Africans died, fighting for a country that sold them out later on! Look at what our country looks like now.... I am ashamed!!!!

  • GriffonSa

If we never fought the war in Angola SA would have gone the Africa way 30 years earlier. The mayhem we currently live in would have came down on all of us way sooner than '94. For that reason alone the saccrifices made was not in vain. Imagine how many whites would have been killed by now if we did not stop them all those years. A pity we were sold out by cowardly politicians!

  • I was an officer at 61 Mech that were stationed with the brigade HQ (Sept - Nov). The SA involvement was initially covert in support of UNITA. This escalated to artillery support until full deployment of 61 Mech and 32 Battalion.

South African forces were not allowed to move during the day due to Cuban air cover, our main AA support was from a UNITA platoon (Stinger missiles).

During my stay there we (61 Mech) lost 3 men while we defeated a brigade (1400)

  • I find it interesting that African American clowns like Louise Farrakhan and Jesse Jackson go to Cuba and hug Castro. All this while Castro murders their African brethren in a war he had no business being in.

  • Trafalgar 8766 I feel sorry for you that your white man's burden is so heavy. Why don't you just lighten your load and join your one million brothers and sisters in exile. South Africa is no longer the country of your youth. It's scary when white privy starts to erode.

  • Whites of Africa are trying to help the Black man of Africa, but they stupidly don't want it. South Africa has changed for the worse, but it doesn't mean it has to stay that way or that we have to confine to the present situation, I'm not calling for violent revolution, but what's the matter with our own homeland? Like Israel

  • With your complete lack of understanding that South Africa is MY HOMELAND ALONG WITH THE OTHER 5 MILLION WHITES, you have no right to comment on this situation, and I will not reply any longer to your posts that will be deleted as soon as they are posted.

  • Uncalled for. Spread your disdain somewhere irenerc, easy for you to criticize as you sit in a white majority first world nation.

  • Separate but equal is not a lie, it works, its only the fact that South Africa due to the whites creating a modern economy versus the blacks who wanted to stay tribal and not develop such a developed economy that created the difference and the greatness of South Africa. The Whites created and ran a better country, while still giving the blacks all they could wish for!! The violence of black society has always been there the white police and defence forces helped to keep it in check!

  • Trafalgar8766 you end this video by stating: "The preservation of South Africa and the Democratic Freedom for which it stood." I don't remember any "real" democratic freedom for the majority of South Africa's people.

  • Look at the Facts, instead of taking away democracy as many western liberals would like the world to think, South Africa created 10 new parliaments and countries, granting independence to 4 (Transkei, Ciskei, etc.) thereby giving the blacks their own homelands where they could govern themselves. Furthermore, although they were independent South Africa kept using white tax money to support and fund the bantustans, along with black universities and many more services. There is their democracy.

  • Awesome video dude - I was there.

  • Great vid, the truth is the truth, Cuban airforce what a joke, they were humiliated.

  • By the end of the 80's we also had a nuclear capacity, hahaha I'll bet those fuckers didnt count on that!!! I find it strange that millions of Cubans fought for someone elses freedom yet failed to secure their own

...hahaha Dictatorship - you gotta love it!

  • we already had nuclear capabilities in the mid 70s, and excellent point about the Cubans

  • hoor hier, flippen baie dankie vir die song! ek LOVE dit, mis Vyfster!!

  • cuban army thay could not even get over the border never mind there flag that would fly over Pretoria LOL thay didnt have the balls to get past the SADF

  • like you guys said, we will admit defeat once the CUban flag flies over Pretoria! And the cubans ocupy Capetown!

  • Great well documented video that dismounts Castro's military genious myth.Few available information about this battle in spanish is pro-Castro point of view.I'll add it to my favourites

  • no creo en las cifras que ponen en este articulo.

en todo caso SA terminó perdiendo y el aparteheid se cayo.

  • cuito syndrom:some of ex apartheid army believe that the win. win what?

uk n usa supported apartheid army from 1975 to the end of apartheid.

apartheid army believe to fight communism to please ukn usa.

cuba believe to fight apartheid n imperialism..communism n apartheid die.

    imperialism still stand

  • Fucking Christ Tomato ... must be great to be a lazy communist and have the state support you so instead of work you can do nothing but haunt Cuito videos and talk shit. you ever noticed the humans with different chests and don't have pricks? Maybe you should try get one instead of wasting your and everyone else's time with your repetitive comments.

  • Comment removed

  • tomaluta.. Cuito Syndrome....lol .Ja i have heard of this its a common syndrome the Cubans and Angolans suffer from

  • Yep we are still waiting fir the Cuban flag to fly over South Africa lol.

  • The Cubans losses were high......they were defeated .South Africa lost the Political battle but never lost the war. So much for Cuba boasting that their Flag would fly over Pretoria ......still waiting......LOL.

  • @umfums Very well said.

  • cubanisimo you are under the influence of propoganda that is clear I was there and it is nothing like you describe it not at all please get your facts straight before you enter in this discussion.

  • They didn't stand a chance as simple as that

The SADF were always one step ahead

    We kick there ass badly

    Great video SADF win

  • They didn't stand a chance it's as simple as that

The SADF were always one step ahead

    We kick there ass badly

  • Nice vid - If i recall the sabc had a documentary on, how the cubans won the battle of Cuito Cuanavale and how we should thank them for defeating apartheid etc. The final effect of the battle are debatable but the battle - SADF WIn

  • The brave soldiers of the SADF, I salute you!!!

I enjoyed the video, interesting facts and great song!

  • Cheers!

  • Cuba cannot really take credit for any of their supposed victories. They were being given state of the art equipment from the soviets. The collapse of the soviet union meant no more free stuff for the cubans which meant they would not be able to sustain a foreign war. SA fought entirely on her own steam without any help.

  • As you cannot research for yourself, here's some info:

The goal of the war was to prevent communist rule in Southern Africa (Mainly South Africa).

South Africa won the War as the goal was achieved. BTW Namibia is not Communist ruled either :) +1 to SA!

    Summary:

    - No Cummunist Rule in Southern Africa (South Africa)

    - Total Dead for Communists was excessive (And respect to those who died, both sides).

Major outcomes achieved to win the war:

    - Body Count

    - No Communism

  • You should do more reading, SAAF shot down many MIGs, yes MIG had air supremacy but only on paper lol In the end SAAF pilots took them down and that's all that counts (Maybe not enough of them).

In fact, I would be imbarresed to say supremacy if I were Cuban.

Pitty that EMP Canon didn't make it to SA as MIG's would have fallen from the sky like rain drops (which was it's main task), alas the cargo plane it was on crashed.

  • dude, you got a pic of the rhodesian tank squad at 4.00min...

  • yeah, i know, thanks, but when the South Africans took the tanks (t-55 i think) from a cargo ship going to Angola, they kept a few for them selves and gave the rest to Rhodesia, I figured the picture emphasized the spirit of the SADF. Thanks again though

  • First of all im certainly not your buddy. the SAAF were more than capable of defeating the migs and they did, again watch/read the video (can you understand that? probably not) Who requested the ceasefire? Cuba. Who was forced to remove their troops from Angola and the SAME TIME South Africa left? Cuba Read the real facts and you'll realize how stupid you sound.....For instance look at the numbers killed, heavy losses on the Communist side, a few brave South Africans were killed

  • How can I spell this out for you any clearer?!? SAAF Controlled the skies, at the end of the war Cuba did some raids to seemingly end the war on a high, but while those happened they were already withdrawing! SAAF controlled the skies since 1975, and (watch the video) shot down many more Cuban planes. Learn the facts and then get back to me...

  • Dude, the cuban's objective was to take the SADF out of angola and Namibia.Remember what happened at Calueque on june 27?the cuban air force destroyed an entire south african unit. The very next day South Africa requested a cease fire agreement. What a coincidence wouldn't you agree? If South Africa would have been winning the war, they would have never retreated from Angola and Namibia.

  • Remember this cubanisimo123, the cubans left at the exact same time as when the South Africans left, it wasn't a matter of South Africa being humiliated, it was the other way around, Cuba was finding itself far too stretched in a remote conflict that it clearly wasn't going to win, considering South Africa had one the large majority of the battles in the conflict. End of argument.

  • He got his facts from books I have studied have a Doctorate at a USA university and want to warn him if he want to quote books he must also say who have wrote those books the fact that it is a book does not make it authorothy. Some books are used for propoganda Any Tom Dick and Harry can write a book I rest my case.

  • Really?and why did the SADF retreat not only from angola but also from namibia? Those fucking racists were defeated by the cubans.I'm not a communist, and many cubans that fought in that war went there to defeat the Master Race of assholes that pretended to take over all africa. If you read the military books you will see that the cubans crushed the SADF on land and air.

  • @cubanisimo123

Please quote the sources to your argument.

In hindsight SADC is better off today without the communist influences of Cuba and Russia, end of story, Angola is on the move and Namibia is now a prosperous country with huge growth, thanks to the South Africans. The Battle of Cuito Cuanavale was the turning point, the South Africans won the battle and at this point the Cubans made up their mind to leave the continent for good and save face while South Africa to Namibia.

  • SADF was crushed by the cubans, thats why they had to retreat not only from angola but also from namibia.Remember what happened in calueque? the cuban pilots destroyed an entire south african unit.

  • Remember what happened at Cuito Cuanavale? Watch the video again the Cubans wanted to kick the SOuth Africans out of Angola and take South-eastern Angola, neither happened!!! The South African objective was to prevent a communist take over of Southern African countries and forced the Cubans out, so why would they agree if they were supposedly crushing South Africa? Throughout the war Cubans had to abandon vehicles, etc. because of the power of the SAAF.
