May I buy a sample so study and I'll tell you if it's a meteorite and if it was a meteorite it would of made a massive creator and by the looks of it it's been in the ground for a long time so maybe the creator won't be visible.
I think this is a meteorite. Meteorites do sound like that as well when you bang on them with something with metal. Magnets do stick to space rocks. You said it weights over 200 pounds. You would get some money, I'm talking about lots of money.
If you near say michigan it could be copper or another kind of mineral nugget hugh. The best way to do it yourself if you husband or someone can cut off a small part at one of the end not big lest then a pound and send it to an trusted lab. Smithsonian, Arizonia state, chicago field museum they will test it most of the time free of charge. If it is a meteorite it is worth a large amount of money and you dontwant to get ripped off. If you have any question contact me and I can point you in the way
I would say the odds are pretty good that it is the crap left in the bottom of a ladel from a foundry, either iron or steel. They tip it out when they have finished casting. The shape fits. Imagine a lumpy clumpy sludgey pile of crap full of slag being poured and solidifying very quickly. That would give you the flat base and pointed top as you see there.
it looks like a meteorite, and a magnet sticks to it, and its heavy, but to know for sure, you can have it analized by a University, or an expert..Also you can slice off a piece of it and have it etched, and see the pattern on it.
u better hope its not what "joe dirt" ended up finding out what his meteorite was!! if it is one tho sell it and make ME some money!!lol, love ya-jess
Sell it on E-bay! (Please send me 10% for this advice ;)) I think you can get a lot of money for it. It looks like a meteor to me and just the "metal" itself should have some value. Good luck!
try to contact a space museum or something like that say you might have something here and theyll probably make you take it DX wich sucks, but it can be worth some money, your friend wont get rich but im sure hell be pretty happy for a couple of weeks if thats a meteorite o.o
or....the museum guys will ask you to donate it wich i suppose theyll try at least o.o

perchè il martello non rimane attaccato?? Forse è un comune pezzo di ferro e quel piccolo oggetto che rimane attaccato è una calamita

You gotts meteorite alright! View Magnetic Meteorite in the desert. Call the news people and try to get as high a price as you can get for it.

Meteorites are not magnetic. It's probably a magnetic rock. Magnetic rocks abound on earth. If you hit it with a hammer it should sound like a bell.

Meteorites are very magnetic!!! That is probably fe. or some pyroclastic ejecta. not magnetic enough.
