For a little background information on this event, the lead singer is my husband, Collin Deputy of the Wolf Mountain Singers. He spent a few weeks during that summer to teach these Crow kids the Flag Song at a Crow Immersion Camp for the youth, this is to help teach youth the Crow language, skills and culture which might otherwise be lost. He did an amazing job by any standard.

I have to say The Crow's once had allies to the were with the Arikara,Hidatsa,and Mandan.but the Crows left because of a dispute of Buffalo guts and the Crows have the bestland because they helped the U.S Gov. destroy tribes all over the plains. Your Rez is realli on Cheyenne.Lakota.and Arapahoe land. u guys claim to be a great nation. But Y do U guys sundance Shoshone,Sing Lakota and Cheyenne songs. And you guys bead wat Sho-Ban style. The Lakota barely have their tradition. I know because I lived with them for many years. They hate the Crow and everything about the Crow. They would tell me how we are stupid for helping Custer and how much they would like to wipe us out. I was like, "I never heard of a Lakota Sioux. But you Siouxs think about the Crow every single day."

no, the stand up bonnet is straight up Siksika. Crows wore theirs like Sioux and then we adopted the lay down bonnet too and the stand up bonnet is rarely used

For a little background information on this event, the lead singer is my husband, Collin Deputy of the Wolf Mountain Singers. He spent a few weeks during that summer to teach these Crow kids the Flag Song at a Crow Immersion Camp for the youth, this is to help teach youth the Crow language, skills and culture which might otherwise be lost. He did an amazing job by any standard.

Thanks for the input. Also, the camera was shut off after the song ended, that is why the translation stops. I wasn't thinking of the annoucers stand at the time, wish I had! I'm glad to see Crows on youtube!

From what my husband says, this video has been "rediscovered" by the Crows and they have been viewing it frequently this week. Must be close to time for Crow Fair...hope to see you there. Collin always sets up as one of the drum groups, so if you hear the Wolf Mountain Singers, feel free to go over and introduce yourself to him, I am sure he would be pleased to meet you and know that you are the one responsible for putting this on YouTube.

Am glad he does teach.Would be a shame if the language goes lost.Its important for them to learn all they can.Maybe they dont appreciate it as kids..i dont know...but I am sure when they get older a bit they are proud and happy that they have learned.Always good to know your roots.

Unlike most of the Native American tribes out there, the Crow still have their tradition and keep it alive. We know our history and who we are. Too bad the "mighty Sioux's" lost theirs. Tsk tsk tsk. God Bless the Crow Tribe. =)

Hey Lakota, why would you say that? The crows were as tough as anyone else. remember"The Wet"! Theyre brilliant warrior who could move like a ghostly wind. unseen, watching, thinking. Then there is "The Crow Woman" who took up her husbands war against the Cheyenne. She led war parties!! whats not mighty about that?

U.N.I.T.Y. is going to Oklahoma this summer of 2007. Natives from all over the nation will be there. Come meet new people and share your culture. Their will be entertainment; dancing and games.
