  • thats how i put my burm away to. love the retics.

  • Really nice collection!

  • @JBenitezReptiles thanks man

  • Do you just let the shower run on top of them?? how do you do it?

  • @ReptileFiend yeah that's fine....or you can put them in a large rubbermaid bin and let them soak

  • so cute! that bumblebee was adorable

  • @Surfingninja9 thanks

  • where did you get your burms...i got my male albino 50% het for granite off this guy from youtube called albinoburm and im looking to find him a green morph to breed him with you know anybody???

  • @DmaProductions1 go on kingsnake or faunaclassfieds

  • i'm not being rude, i really am just curious. why do you have so many? (again, i'm just wondering)

  • @Booklvr777 you obviously don't have the snake bug then.....haha...do you even have any snakes?...and that's not a lot of snakes

  • u should get some bloods

  • @herprule thanks i've been thinking about it...i like the black bloods the best...do you have any herps?

  • @hockenburyj2 yep check out my channel im just a beginner though. my next purchase will probably be a blood. i will start maken vids wen i get a bigger collection. SUBSCRIBE! ive held bloods and no alot about them u wont regret gettin one. ill make a deal with u if u get a blood i will subscribe. i like people who hav diverse collections

  • @herprule that's the thing...subs don't really matter to me...and I like having a concentrated collection based on 2-3 species..thanks for watching though

  • What kind of cages are your big snakes in?

  • @DavisDoubtful I built all the cages myself out of melamine..check out my other videos..i explain the cages etc.

  • Love this video really shows how passive big constrictors are if handled and worked with !! Actually mine really like being in their enclosure so it's easier to let them get back in than it is to take them out LOL

  • @1softkiss ahah thanks Carla...yeah my retics tend to come back out after I put their head in which can be a pain sometimes but at least they don't bite me ahha

  • Great video.... Is your vivarium's custom built ?

  • @CgAp1888 thanks man yeah they are ...if you look at some of my previous videos I talk about them

  • @hockenburyj2 Kool will check them out... :D

  • @CgAp1888 no problem..any other questions...just ask

  • @hockenburyj2 Is there any way you would do a video on how and what you did to build them ? The one thing i noticed that i like the idea of is that your glass doesn't slide you have like... a runner in a runner if that makes sense lol

  • @hockenburyj2 would u mind making a video on convincing parents to own snakes

  • @estasak13 that's a tough one...just say you want to get something harmless like a ball python, corn snake, or milk snake....I couldn't get one until I went away to college....good luck

  • quesque tu utilise pour chauffer tes cages?

  • a combien est la temperature de la piece ?

  • I've been having a lot of trouble controlling the humidity in my reptile cages and I was wondering if you'd be willing to do a very basic video on all of the equipment you use (What it's called and where to get it) to keep your snakes healthy. It would be great if you could also dabble into what to use for proper heating as well and how the thermostats work with the reptile cages. That would be amazing!

  • @BOGLEYKID just get a humidity gauge..you'll have to spray water in prob atleast once a day to keep it above 60% because when the heaters are on in your house...you will have low humidity...if you have an aquarium cover atleast 80% of the top with ceran wrap to keep the humidity in....and with heating get a proportional thermostat...place the probe on the hot side of the cage and set the thermostat to 88-90degrees.... check my other video on my cages...i use pro products radiant heat panels and

  • @hockenburyj2 flexwatt heat tape...what type of cage are you housing your snake in and what are you using to heat it?

  • @hockenburyj2 I have them all (all of my snakes are still under 3 feet) in 20 gallon terrariums. I'm heating them with an under tank heater and then an over head heat lamp that keeps the cages around 90 degrees. I've already purchased a 40 gallon which I'll bump the burmese up to soon and will be building a custom cage for him this summer. Humidity is a constant problem as you probably are aware since you live in penn. How do these thermostats work and how do you apply them to the terrariums?

  • @BOGLEYKID you just have to spray every day and more often when they are going into shed...with the proportional thermostats...you set them to a desired temperature say 90 degrees some are analog where you turn the dial to 90 and some are digital like mine...then you place the probe on the hot side you want to heat...anchor it for ground dwelling species like burms in the middle of the hot spot on the bottom of the cage...then plug your heat source into the thermostat...you can control multiple

  • @hockenburyj2 heat sources with one thermostat....go to reptile basics and look at the prewired johnson thermostats a419 ..that the one i use for my two large cages....

  • @hockenburyj2 Awesome! Great tips man! Reptile basics is awesome and I'll definitely be getting stuff from there. Another question, what are your thoughts on the new ban against burmese pythons? I was going to wait a while a see how I like the one I have but it looks like if I want another one I have to get it now. Are you still going to attempt to breed yours possibly?

  • You've probably been asked this a lot but which particular snake do you feel in your collection, and in general, is more docile :Burmese vs. Reticulated? I don't own a retic but I bought my first burmese baby yesterday and it became extremely aggressive when I got home. Not sure what to do...

  • @BOGLEYKID I think both can be very docile if handled regularly from a young age. I hope that you have some experience with snakes because burms are not a good starter snake...get a pair of gloves and a snake hook...condition him with the hook before you are going to handle him

  • sweet snakes

  • @SnakeBites10123 thanks

  • Wow beautiful snakes, an nice cages

  • @GCreptile11 thanks man

  • Just there over all behavior like how they act around feeding time or matting season or how to tell that there docile enough to trust. I've heard of retics acting like a totally different animal during breeding or feeding time and then after there done they seem to calm right down.

  • @painter4769 yeah you just have to be able to read an animal and not handle the snake during feeding time...also conditioning the snake with a snake hook knocks the snake out of its feeding mode.....it's all about how you raise the snake

  • pythons all look good man, is that all your keeping at the moment yeah?

  • @snakeboi1994 yeah...I'd like to have more but I don't have the money, time or space lol...how's breeding season going teddy?

  • @hockenburyj2 too slow if i'm honest mate, i'd prefer if they had locked by now, but then i put mine together a few weeks after many others and i wont be panicking till the end of february

  • @snakeboi1994 hopefully you'll get a lock...otherwise try again next year

  • Could you do a video on the behavior of your retics no one else really has that I know of and I think it would be cool to show what a future owner is getting into.

  • @painter4769 during when?...midnay, night, before feeding, during feeding, after feeding ,during handling?.....

  • I'm really liken the platinum and lavender retic they have really nice color. In a month or so if I'm lucky I'll have a granite male burm wish me luck lol. Anyways very nice collection you picked some very stunning animals!

  • @painter4769 thanks man...haha good luck...and thanks again

  • Nice update. What type of cage do ou use? The platinum looked real good

  • @carsoncollection I made them myself check the previous video to this one where I talk about them...that should answer most questions

  • Wow!! Bro,Your Snakes Are Looking Soooo!!! Sweeeet!!!

  • @MrReptileSmile thanks man

  • How big is you granite now!!! She was a worm when you first got her now she looks huge!!!

  • @89mc01 haha yeah she is growing but is still a worm...

  • Wow....Great collection man! Very nice setup as well. Good Luck!

  • @universaldave999 thanks a lot man...glad you enjoyed the video

  • they look great!

  • @knglee3rd thanks man

  • Awesome snakes, how are you gonna have room to house so many big snakes when there full grown? I will only own one retic one day. A purple tiger :)

  • @NuttinSpeciaI Um the males will be fine in the 6' by 2's and I will eventually build the females 8' cages when I move to a new apt soon

  • Can you make a tutorial on how you made the cages?

  • @ObviouslySancho check the previous video.....

  • @hockenburyj2 OH WOW! I'm sorry, for some reason this video came in my sub box but the cage tutorial didn't =/

  • @ObviouslySancho no problem dude

  • my baby burm was as thick as a sharpie and didnt eat for two monthes and the person i got it from said he hasent ate in 1 month so 3 monthes for a two month old burm is a while. My friend has him now and hes 13ft long and 110lbs and its a male burm. so im pretty sure your burm will be fine. Ask any herpetologist and he'll say he will be fine. I used to get worried when my snakes didnt eat too but now im more experienced and now i know a snake can go without food for a long time!!!

  • @krispcream1 haha agreed

  • @hockenburyj2 nice snakes man, im thinking about getting either a burm or retic, im more inclined to getting the retic except for the feeding response cage aggression factor, do you think that by regular handeling, the retic wont develop such a response. your retic though is really tame, in 1 of ur vids i saw u take him out without a hook. Does your retic allow u to touch its head and upper body?

    plz answer

  • @Kobe4445 yeah I can litterally pet his head....with any larger snake you should worry about a feeding response strike only when there is food around they can smell....get a snake hook and condition them that way...I use my snake hooks on every snake every time I handle them.... if they seem to be in feeding mode or a bad they are knocked out of that response with regular conditioning with the hook and regular handling...I would get a burm first if you plan on having both in the future...

  • @hockenburyj2 they tend to be more laid back and less squirmy and flighty....I wouldn't recommend either of the species if you haven't had time to handle or be around larger snakes, if this is your first or second snake, don't have the space to house them, or the money to feed them....hope that helps good luck

  • @hockenburyj2 thanks alot man

  • @Kobe4445 no problem man...

  • Yeah man he's been drinking and being active, also using the bathroom regularly. Maybe I'm overreacting lol.

  • @SquirtleRuNzSocial yeah relax... he'll be fine...don't give in to him..get him on rabbits

  • my burms been refusing food last week and this week man should i be worried? i'm trying to give him bunnies.. he usually eats jumbo rats or guinea pigs when i find them

  • @SquirtleRuNzSocial your burm should be fine 2 weeks is nothing. they can go without food for a long time! over a year. it happends sometimes they just dont want to eat. it might be because your transferring your burm to bunnies start with small ones and work your way up. I had a baby burm a few years ago and it didnt eat for 2 monthes and it was a baby! Yours is nice and fat you should have nothing to worry about he'll eat when hes hungry trust me.

  • @krispcream1 Thanks man but he's only twelve months old going to be 13 months in 10 days; I don't think he can go that long without food. I know two weeks isn't starving him but he's already small for his age and if he keeps this up he won't grow.. first time I've had this problem with him. He ate two bunnies when I first introduced him to them about 3 weeks ago and has no interest in them since.

  • @SquirtleRuNzSocial dude don't worry he'll eat...my tiger retic only took two rabbits then went back on rats and has been off feed for breeding season...don't worry about it...i'm not...mine hasn't ate in 2 months but he still looks good, is drinking and going to the bathroom and is still very active...relax he will eat again soon

  • @SquirtleRuNzSocial don't worry at all man....mine have gone up to two months without food and then one day they will start eating like nothing happened...just make sure he is not losing weight, drinking and urinating like usual and you should be fine

  • Nice vid and wats bigger your albino burm or retic

  • @GeCkOKiNg7 albino burm in weight and also about half a foot longer...but they are both a pretty good size

  • thanks for the update :) the platinum is still superb!

  • @Mykidrm no problem...thanks yeah she has some awesome colors
