They were on point.....They use the Kanes betta than some Kappa's...real talk.I've not yet been to a step show and didnt see a Kappa f*ck up using those Kanes.That chick dropped and split wit the Hooks in a dress.They do the Ape walk betta than some Alpha too.Fellas these women made yall look bad with yall signature strolls.lol.They couldnt get the Sigma walk done those....not in those tight dresses.

Actually this is not at Howard, this is the DC Armory. HU Stopped holding the stepshow on campus when the demand grew too high. They needed a stadium to fit the amount of people who wanted to attend every year.

I heard that the show was at the DC Armory, totally forgot about that. But is the DC Armory the only venue they can afford to have the step show at? No disrespect to whomever owns the stadium but they can do better than that. .
This is NOT on the campus of Howard University. It is at the DC Armory Stadium like ohsofair stated because it holds 10,000 people since the demand for this Howard Homecoming event to hold in Cramton Auditiorium, which seats about 1,500. BIG difference.
I love this.....the Alpha chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha definitely ain't playing games......so honestly DST might want to step up the game next year. Plus the AKAs are probably planning for next year already

I shared the show with a youth group and some of the kids stated they would work harder to get into college and join a black greek letter organization upon arrival. I'm like a step expertise and i look at competitive shows and try to beat them... this is def a show to do that with. You guys had energy, stuck to the theme, and and had all of the personality in the world. Skit... hilarious and general. Very classy.

THE FIRST 45 seconds ALONE is one of the best intros to a step routine I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! PERIOD, POINT BLANK! The whole "Kill Bill" asylum thing was verrrry creative, who expects to see AKA'S rolling around on the floor, and doing hoisting each other up like cheerleaders? I LOVED IT! Because they didn't do what is normally expected from them. I WISH MY KAPPA BROTHERS COULD TAKE A NOTE FROM THIS. For one time only, I wish I could see a routine MINUS THE KANES. Everyone expects us to use them!

Everyone, just calm down....good grief. And watch your spelling. It diminishes your argument tremendously. Those of us in Greekdom are regarded as the epitome of intelligence on most campuses, so let's reflect that.
In regards to cheating, the Homecoming steering comittee has always been comprised of a diverse array of students, not just greeks Coordinating the show takes tons of volunteers, and I doubt if anyone stood by the mics and pulled the chord. Everyone is very busy. The comittee wants the best show possible because they are judged by its presentation, not who wins. I don't get how an off mic could tank a stepshow. I doubt the unheard parts were so important that it would have changed the outcome.
As a Howard Alum, please believe Howard greeks get along just fine. I don't understand how anyone thinks these ladies did not step for the majority of the show. You could count down and use simple math to see that they did. Theses kind of statements are clearly false and lack credibility. If you don't like the show/style, thats fine, but could we atleast be honest with ourselves?
Like I said, I've never heard of the HU greeks beefing with each other, they have sense enough to leave it on the stage, only visiting greeks like to bring their disdain for another org to Howard's campus, so while you're on here crying foul, they've already moved on-THE HOWARD HOMECOMING FESTIVITIES ARE OVER!!! This is the 1st time I've heard of a visiting team crying foul at the step show, there is NO conspiracy theory, if you knew ANYTHING about Howard Homecoming step show, you would've realized that other visiting step teams HAVE won, like the Phi Beta Sigma all-star team in 2006, and various Kappa chapters in 2004 & 2005 (if I'm not mistaken). If you're good, THEN YOU'RE GOOD, and please believe that you need to be on your A game when coming to Howard, we WILL boo celebrities if you're wack. LOL

I don't belive anyone is claiming that the show was perfect. None of the shows were perfect. In my opinion, their show was the best overall with a balanced mix of great stepping, intensity, and creativity. Everything has been done in step shows so creativity is important. I don't want to see the same thing everytime i.e. 10 minutes of straight stepping with no story or purpose. Completely integrating your steps with a theme, keeping it hype, and having a begining midde and end is not easy.
You're very funny...this 'paper' chapter wins national step shows, has been chapter of the year on campus and in the Region, continually has the highest GPA in the region and its members continually dominate campus activities...Perhaps YOUR primary concern is stepping and your lack of understanding of a real 'pledge' process; but THIS chapter can handle it all AND hold it down.

Everyone is entitled 2 his/her own opinion, but not everyone is knowledgeable enough 2 evaluate & assign worth 2 stepping. The judges made their decision & deemed that 1)it was enough stepping 2)it wasn't 2 much dancing & 3)they AKAs were the WINNERS!
this is a good show. I need to watch Part II (if I can find it), but I would say that it seems a bit 'choppy' so far. Not enough of a balance between stepping and showing small step/dance 'snippets.' Good steppng and performance, but slightly fragmented.

Alpha Chapter usually steps in suits with pumps. Its their thing, and probably has something to do with the whole AKA "serious matter" deal. Suits= equal serious business! Hope that helps, It might be too much dancing and/or skits for you but there was plenty of steps

Yes they are suspended, and the rumored reason is hazing. How long? I'm not sure. I don't know why any greek org would put themselves in that position, ESPECIALLY on Howard's campus. Hell, the Kappas JUST came back on the yard in 2007, and they were off for almost 10 years. smh

Paper or not, these ladies clearly have excellent communication and organizational skills, they work very well together, they have always been involved in their community,they are scholastic achievers who go on to lead sucessful lives. People nowadays called chapters with very large memberships paper chapters, when the original meaning of this derogatory term was for members who were inactive doing work but had no problem repping with their nalia. SMH
I also find it VERY SAD that many of greeks are shitting on the place where it all started: HOWARD UNIVERSITY. Yes, 5 of the 9 greek orgs on campus are ALPHA chapters, so maybe they're still carrying themselves the way their prophytes, YOUR ORG FOUNDERS, taught THEM.

Definitely have to agree with foruchocoholics, not much stepping going on at all. Step shows have begun to turn in to SHOWS without stepping....so whoever can perform better and get the crowd hyped the most seems to win. Good judges would site that.
It was a good show. But in GENERAL I think female step teams are judged more favorably on costume, theatrics, and themes. Seems to be more common that winning female teams have that going. And that winning male teams might have a tight theme, but definitely some serious steps & stunts.

Who won the show??? I have judged several shows and I think this show had too much going on. They didn't step the entire show. TOO Much music. THe dissing was O.K. TOo much like cheerleaders in the beginning. However, the crowd was all for the AKAs. Good show ladies for that campus.

@Bison: The shows Ive seen are alot less intense. The themes are usually very cookie cutter. i.e. The UMCP AKAs did a Fairly Toyland. I really liked this show bc they were entertaining and actually stepping. I also appreciated that they stuck with the theme.

The AKAs did not FIGHT the SGRhos...The SGRhos were a little upset about something, maybe being SGRHos, I dont know, They got "Crunk" by themselves...and the Alphas separated the AKAs and the SGRhos...now what happened between the Alphas (Non Beta Chapter) and the SGRhos (Not howard SGRhos either) I cant call it...but I am sure I got the AKA and SGRro confusion right ;-)(Howard University Greeks have more class and tact than that...we know each other and we are always cordial)

LOL @ MsPearlsandIvy: Dont worry they did enough primping, posing, and hair flipping after the show on the side of the stage and on stage to make up for anything you'd consider "unladylike" in their show....that stuff doesnt entertain, enthrall or win shows...however, what they did in their show does! I don't see how they were unladylike either, the Alpha Chapter AKAs ALWAYS step in skirt suits and pumps at the homecoming shows, and a cute little sweater/cardigan combo and skirt WITH pumps at other events/shows. They also wear shorts under those suits if you're concern about that too. They sit and clap ladylike too, lol (you gotta keep your eye on them at the shows to see it, they're so cute with it). That's one thing I can say about the Alpha Chapter members, they ALWAYS come proper. ;o)
I was there in person. The vids dont do the show justice. The ladies of AKA really showed up and showed out. I was thoroughly impressed and Ive never seen AKAs step so hard and so well. I loved the theme and when they did the scene from my fave scene of my fave movie....I was too undone.
I love my D-S-T...but their win was well deserved and I will always give props where props are due. They definitely tore it up.
I totally disagree. These ladies stepped hard, but were under control and precise. What more could you ask for? The show was intense, but the theme was an insane asylum. They captured the essence of every frat and still managed to maintain their poise and composure. The Ladies of Alpha Chapter clearly demonstrated that you can win a stepshow by being physical and still step like ladies. Awesome show!

Sign papers as in skatting or not pledging like the rest of the other sorrorities. You know exactly what I am talking about and this goes to all the skatters. There is nothing wrong with signing papers to be honest. Be proud of it. If your chapter does not sign papers, then good for you, but let me make it clear to you that many chapters do not participate in "pledging" or "hazing", which is good, My point was that I would rather much sign than get my ass whooped.

I shared the show with a youth group and some of the kids stated they would work harder to get into college and join a black greek letter organization upon arrival. Please SGRhos stop the madness it 's not ladylike and everytime we go back and forth over petty, petty chaos we have slapped our founders in the face. THE FIRST 45 seconds ALONE is one of the best intros to a step routine I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! PERIOD, POINT BLANK! The whole "Kill Bill" asylum thing was verrrry creative, who expects to see AKA'S rolling around on the floor, and doing hoisting each other up like cheerleaders? I LOVED IT! Because they didn't do what is normally expected from them. I WISH MY KAPPA BROTHERS COULD TAKE A NOTE FROM THIS. For one time only, I wish I could see a routine MINUS THE KANES. In regards to cheating, the Homecoming steering comittee has always been comprised of a diverse array of students, not just greeks Coordinating the show takes tons of volunteers, and I doubt if anyone stood by the mics and pulled the chord. Everyone is very busy. The comittee wants the best show possible because they are judged by its presentation, not who wins. I don't get how an off mic could tank a stepshow. I doubt the unheard parts were so important that it would have changed the outcome.

As a Howard Alum, please believe Howard greeks get along just fine. I don't understand how anyone thinks these ladies did not step for the majority of the show. You could count down and use simple math to see that they did. Theses kind of statements are clearly false and lack credibility. This is the 1st time I've heard of a visiting team crying foul at the step show, there is NO conspiracy theory, if you knew ANYTHING about Howard Homecoming step show, you would've realized that other visiting step teams HAVE won, like the Phi Beta Sigma all-star team in 2006, and various Kappa chapters in 2004 & 2005 (if I'm not mistaken). If you're good, THEN YOU'RE GOOD, and please believe that you need to be on your A game when coming to Howard, we WILL boo celebrities if you're wack. LOL

Nobody cut off your mics, it was about 8 chicks stepping in the DC Armory STADIUM. You could've done like many of the other step teams did: PRE-RECORD THEIR SPEAKING PARTS.

I don't belive anyone is claiming that the show was perfect. None of the shows were perfect. In my opinion, their show was the best overall with a balanced mix of great stepping, intensity, and creativity. Everything has been done in step shows so creativity is important. I don't want to see the same thing everytime i.e. 10 minutes of straight stepping with no story or purpose. Completely integrating your steps with a theme, keeping it hype, and having a begining midde and end is not easy.

PageantQueen, I was going 2 address ur comment until I went to ur page. Obviously, u're going 2 see what u want 2 see. The AKAs killed it, they were creative, energtic, clean & classy, something I can't say 4 every female team.
Everyone is entitled 2 his/her own opinion, but not everyone is knowledgeable enough 2 evaluate & assign worth 2 stepping. The judges made their decision & deemed that 1)it was enough stepping 2)it wasn't 2 much dancing & 3)they AKAs were the WINNERS!

this is a good show. I need to watch Part II (if I can find it), but I would say that it seems a bit 'choppy' so far. Not enough of a balance between stepping and showing small step/dance 'snippets.' Good steppng and performance, but slightly fragmented.

Really?!! 1 step and the rest dancing??!! Lets review: Intro, stepping, Iphone skit, short dance transition, tribute steps, more steps, outro skit, a bit more stepping, and done. That doesn't seem like complete dancing to me. The
Alpha Chapter usually steps in suits with pumps. Its their thing, and probably has something to do with the whole AKA "serious matter" deal. Suits= equal serious business! Hope that helps, It might be too much dancing and/or skits for you but there was plenty of steps

Yes they are suspended, and the rumored reason is hazing. How long? I'm not sure. I don't know why any greek org would put themselves in that position, ESPECIALLY on Howard's campus. Hell, the Kappas JUST came back on the yard in 2007, and they were off for almost 10 years. smh

Paper or not, these ladies clearly have excellent communication and organizational skills, they work very well together, they have always been involved in their community,they are scholastic achievers who go on to lead sucessful lives. Isn't THAT what's IMPORTANT? As a people we shoud focus on what we DO, not who we are. They DO a lot. For the record, all of the greeks share these characteristics on Howard's campus.

People nowadays called chapters with very large memberships paper chapters, when the original meaning of this derogatory term was for members who were inactive doing work but had no problem repping with their nalia. SMH
I also find it VERY SAD that many of greeks are shitting on the place where it all started: HOWARD UNIVERSITY. Yes, 5 of the 9 greek orgs on campus are ALPHA chapters, so maybe they're still carrying themselves the way their prophytes, YOUR ORG FOUNDERS, taught THEM.

Definitely have to agree with foruchocoholics, not much stepping going on at all. Step shows have begun to turn in to SHOWS without stepping....so whoever can perform better and get the crowd hyped the most seems to win. Good judges would site that.

It was a good show. But in GENERAL I think female step teams are judged more favorably on costume, theatrics, and themes. Seems to be more common that winning female teams have that going. And that winning male teams might have a tight theme, but definitely some serious steps & stunts.

Who won the show??? I have judged several shows and I think this show had too much going on. They didn't step the entire show. TOO Much music. THe dissing was O.K. TOo much like cheerleaders in the beginning. However, the crowd was all for the AKAs. Good show ladies for that campus.

Everyone is missing the point. We NEVER said the AKAs didn't have a good show. No one is taking that away from them. You won't see any comments stating that the SGRhos think they should have taken 1st. The point of all the comments has been people are hating on us without us having to say anything and that's totally independent of the AKAs show. @Bison: The shows Ive seen are alot less intense. The themes are usually very cookie cutter. i.e. The UMCP AKAs did a Fairly Toyland. I really liked this show bc they were entertaining and actually stepping. I also appreciated that they stuck with the theme.

The AKAs did not FIGHT the SGRhos...The SGRhos were a little upset about something, maybe being SGRHos, I dont know, They got "Crunk" by themselves...and the Alphas separated the AKAs and the SGRhos...now what happened between the Alphas (Non Beta Chapter) and the SGRhos (Not howard SGRhos either) I cant call it...but I am sure I got the AKA and SGRro confusion right ;-)(Howard University Greeks have more class and tact than that...we know each other and we are always cordial)

I don't see how they were unladylike either, the Alpha Chapter AKAs ALWAYS step in skirt suits and pumps at the homecoming shows, and a cute little sweater/cardigan combo and skirt WITH pumps at other events/shows. They also wear shorts under those suits if you're concern about that too. They sit and clap ladylike too, lol (you gotta keep your eye on them at the shows to see it, they're so cute with it). That's one thing I can say about the Alpha Chapter members, they ALWAYS come proper. ;o)

I wish whoever recorded this wouldve gotten their video at the beginning....like I said, this video doesnt do this show justice at all.

I was there in person. The vids dont do the show justice. The ladies of AKA really showed up and showed out. I was thoroughly impressed and Ive never seen AKAs step so hard and so well. I loved the theme and when they did the scene from my fave scene of my fave movie....I was too undone.
I love my D-S-T...but their win was well deserved and I will always give props where props are due. They definitely tore it up.

I totally disagree. These ladies stepped hard, but were under control and precise. What more could you ask for? The show was intense, but the theme was an insane asylum. They captured the essence of every frat and still managed to maintain their poise and composure. The Ladies of Alpha Chapter clearly demonstrated that you can win a stepshow by being physical and still step like ladies. Awesome show!
