I've been getting very nostalgic about old TV lately, and at the age of 37 I risk sounding like an old fart by saying they really don't make 'em like this any more. Like others have said, TVS did a great job and the loss of their franchise was a huge injustice - Meridian were crap, much like Carlton ended up being in London. ITV really did go down the toilet from the mid-90s onwards, abandoning really good shows for cheap junk. :(
I must have made half the things that were ever on this show- still make potato peel crisps to this day! Only wish I kept the two Do It supplements; I remember Sheelagh was joined by a bloke called Norman who was like the bumbling editor of the Belstow Weekly and a young black guy called Sam Silver in series two.
Looking back on TVS without sounding too much of a "meeja studies" type, it always struck me as a ITV company who's greatest strength was Kids programming, ok, Catchphrase was great but it's always the kids programmes that TVS seem to be remembered for. One of the biggest regrets of my childhood is not paying more attention to shows like Mr Majieka Do It and the like. They were just "on the telly", i guess not many 10 year olds would have heard of "franchise review" and "Archive rights hell"...
Totally agree, in fact I do remember reading somewhere that when TVS bid for its franchise one of its stated aims was to produce quality children's programmes.
No. 73 is a good example, they could have stuck with Tiswas, or at least produced a standard Saturday Morning Show but instead they went for something far more ambitious in every way possible. Innovative from the very first day.
Thanks for loading this up, i only have a vague memory of the show and it was great to see a snippet of it! Please keep uploading the great TVS rarities!

@mistofoles No, you are thinking of Carole Leader. Carole was the Chock a Girl, Fred Harris was the Chock a Bloke!

Remember this like it was yesterday, even though I was about eight when it was on.
Your woman Gilbey has longer hair than I recall - did she rock a funky bowl cut at one point or am I imagining it?

No I think she did!
