  • thanks.

  • I feel like that was waaay overdone. I think you got a little carried away with the colors.

  • Very nice...

  • Jayson satam?

  • This video was really helpful. I'm doing a friend's senior pics to save her money, and I wanted to make them really special for her. This is an effect no one else will likely have in their pictures. :) Thank you for making it so effortless.

  • it leaves a white circle around the face how do i remove it?

  • ctrl shift I ... :)

  • thanks for sharing sir. it works to me.

  • are you saying cmd ctrl J to put on own layer? not wrking...any other way?

  • really great tutorial

  • Great video!

  • the tutorial works fine for me. And yes I hit on pause whenever I needed it. Thanks for the tutorial btw! Can't wait to help editing my cousin's wedding photos (voluntary of course)

  • I love how people are complaining that this guy talks too fast. Um you guys do see the pause button up there right? The easiest way to get the most out of these tutorials is to open up a picture in photoshop and edit your image along with him...pausing the video as you need to. That way you can see the effect on your end as well and know that you are doing it right. Jeez give the guy a break. Awesome tutorial btw...thanks!!

  • wooowww

  • command, control j doesnt work, what is the long method?

  • what the fuck you doing on 1:08, it aint working

  • Dude you talk FAST!

Chill no one is going to kill you man!

  • double click color ????? ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • I have a really cool method to a soft focus which can be used as a droplet on multiple photos at once (granted above was an example of selective focus which needs case-by-case attention).

    1. Duplicate original layer

    2. Give a generous gaussian blur to the duplicate layer

    3. Set the duplicate layer at 40% opacity

    4. Flatten image

You can automate this into a droplet and let it work on hundreds of photos. I've had tons of brides/grooms who loved the result.

  • You talk too fast , and therefore hard to follow.

  • gr8 thx

  • how to group it in 2:39?

  • Wining Tutorial Charlie Sheen's voice. Thanks

And this guy did it in 6 minutes.

  • I have photoshop 8 and i cant find the adjustment layer "curves" that he was using... all I can find is color curves in the "enhance" section. Can somebody please help me out... Thx :))

  • @MariahNugent this should be on the layers tab, if you left click on the little blackand white symbol on the bottom of the layers window/tab it will bring up the list for you. i use CS2 so not sure but i think it should be in that list.

  • @104mikeyboy

    Shift+Apple+"i"

  • thank you man

  • Not sure why there so many comments saying "too fast." If you're familiar with Photoshop, it is pretty clear.

Good tutorial overall. I think I like the technique more than the actual finished product though.

  • or they can pause.

  • bruv u fail cant even see what ur doing

  • @robasbar1 That's because you don't have a clue. Go get the classroom in a book and stop bothering this master with bullshit.

  • Interesting video.

  • Great tutorial ty alot :)

  • great toturial.... thanks for sharing

  • after he did ctrl+shift+i, what did he do next, he talked too fast at the part I couldn't hear it

  • ctrl+shift+J

  • @ihateessays If you are talkin about in the very beginning of the tutorial, The Ctrl+Shift+i inverts the selction. Ex, he selected the faces the invert now selects the entire image, EXCEPT the faces. Then he said he hit Ctrl+J to make a copy of it and put it on its own layer. Hope that helped ya.

  • @Denise7826 you legend i couldnt hear it either but you helped heaps THANKYOU!

  • @ihateessays He presses CTRL + J to make a new layer out of the feathered selection.

  • @ihateessays he pressed ctrl+j to pop that up...

  • @megafragmaster: thank you

  • @ihateessays he said he hit ctrl + shift + i to invert the selection, so he selected everything except for the circle part, then he hit ctrl + J to extract everything but the circle piece to a new layer

  • @ihateessays ctrl + J

  • @ihateessays ctrl+j i believe

  • @ihateessays its called press pause.

  • @ihateessays What did he say? lol I couldn't hear it too.

  • @ihateessays in case you are still waiting ;) he said press cmd or ctrl + J

  • @ihateessays in case you are still waiting ;) he said press cmd or ctrl + J

  • @ihateessays ctrl+J

  • @ihateessays After ctrl+shift+i, he pressed Control + J to duplicate the layer which cuts off the face. Then you can continue to Radial Blur.

  • @ihateessays ctrl + J ;) hope it helps

  • fast faster fastest

  • very good!!!

  • ok i have paint shop pro not sure what virsion, but im wondering if u can explain how to make a picture thats really fuzzy clear as day can u help?

  • Two things that can't really be fixed...exposure and focus. If your photo is blurry, there's not a lot of hope for it. Even in pshop, unsharp masking cannot even recover a fuzzy pic. Sorry!

  • @puremilitary101 Before I converted to Photoshop elements I had Paint shop pro and I still have many tutorials for that program and many of them I have converted to elements if you would like to have the soft focus tut I have for that program email me and I will send you the step by step instructions for it...

  • I used this as a basis for a pic from a wedding this weekend. thanks for the tip!

  • how to select every thing acsept face

  • use elliptical marquee tool to select the face. then press "Ctrl+Shift+I" which basically selects inverse.

    Shown at around 1:11

  • nice

  • with a small zoom would be better.

    btw: fantastic

  • XCLNT

  • witch version of photoshop is this

  • clear teaching, awesome.

  • wow thats going to come in handy..

thank you very much for the gr8 tute!

  • how do you duplicate the layer? D:

  • rightclic the layer you want to duplicate and find the duplicate layer option on the list appearing... or you could just drag the layer you want to duplicate on to the little new layer icon down right corner of the layers box and drop on that icon.

Thix for the vid the results im getting on my photos are really great. thx.

  • excellent tut! thank you very much!

how to selecting holp pic ?

  • Awesome!

  • Thank you

  • in 1:01 i couldn't do it :S can u explain plzzz :'(

  • you could try ctrl+leftclick on the layer

    or menu+select+all

  • Hey when I do the cutting part,I circled the face but the result I got was that the background was cut.And when I did gaussian blur, its the face thats blur.Whats wrong with my cs4

  • I think you are forgetting to invert the selection. crtl + i

  • this is awesome... unfortunately my photoshop seems to miss the layer fill option, and so im stuck at not being able to add a sold color... :(

  • You can just use the bucket option to paint a solid color in.

  • You are extremely good at explaining.

  • thanks so much for this video tutorial!

  • OMG! I'm a photographer now!! Thank you so much for your clear and easy to follow instruction!~

  • Whats the duplicate layer hot key command?

  • CONTROL-J

  • you could just drag the layer into the new layer button. That's what I usually do.

  • Thats true of course, but whats quicker than both methods(for mas os x users anwway) is right click and hit duplicate layer...if you use a new two finger scrolling trackpad, its very effective!!!
