@XiSlasherziX Yeah, i noticed that as well after I made it :P But my newest version doesn't have the rings. Transparency shadows are hard to get right :| Anway, the star is about 3,400 K
@comandosespeciales I don't understand your question. Are you saying what would it be like if it was our star? we wouldn't be orbiting the star, we would be engulfed inside it because it's diameter would go past the orbit of Jupiter.
@lenny27G Canis Majoris is not the biggest star... It's the biggest discovered star... But know only some of the stars in the milky road, there are many others in the universe...
@lebergsfjellet Trust me, I know. Explain that to these other people, not me =P The universe is unfathomably vast. We can accurately observe only a small portion of our own galaxy, who knows whats in the other billions of galaxies that exist. The chance of there being a star that is bigger is practically 100%, we just can't observe things that far away with any accuracy.
@LuBucifer Well first of all VV Cephei A is a star, not a planet ;) and there is only one known star that is bigger and its called VY Canis Majoris. Its bigger by about 2%
@carmilache Interesting you should say that ;) I disagree with them as well, which is actually why I'm in the middle of making a textured, bump-mapped, specularity mapped, Sub-Surface Scattered version for all the planets. I actually uploaded an unlisted one about 10 days ago to test the encoding, so I guess it doesn't hurt for you see it :) Istill need to add the music and do some other tweaks and the new version will be uploaded as a public video soon /watch?v=TlhCWhLhSok
@lenny27G niice! keep up the good work and i can't wait to see your finished video:D, as for a music choice .. how about Gustav's Holst planets suite? cheers mate and good luck!:)
@Bardock2020 If you have a 1080p screen and view it in such video quality, you can actually see Vega at the very end of the video in front of VV Cephei A. Its only about a pixel big =)
@lenny27G, it was just a joke, a subtle way of saying that these stars are absoulotley ginourmous. Yet the funny thing is, there are still much bigger stars.
@lenny27G I just looked with a x160 and x200 microscope. vega takes up over 20 pixles (17inch screen) about 6 pixle rows left to right and 7 up and down rows. heh
@RSHA4b4 I follow christianity because of the moral teachings of a single man that is the focus of christianity. Let the church and science debate all they want, I don't really care. I am after the truth as much as anyone who calls themselves men of science. I just try to keep an open mind is all.. Also I never said science and religion are compatible, religion is all about philisophical wisdom after all while science deals with tangible facts. so yes they're not.
@RSHA4b4 Then you're problem is with the church and the men and woman that runs the church not on religion. Christianity for example is all about following the teachings of christ and by all means those things are all morally good and that's what I'm trying to follow and guide me.. Unfortunately the church, the men in charge of the church, the culture, the time, etc has warped the good teachings so blame them not the religion.
In short, blame the cook not the cookbook. cheers!
@RSHA4b4 nah.. i call it having an open mind. there is so much more to religion than just believing there is a creator. you also said "when all proves the contrary".. such a strong statement for something as young as science. just enjoy the video my friend.
credit to the maker of this video. its insane when the camera swivels, really shows how insignificant we are and "brings you down to earth" if you know what i mean haha
A man I aculally got an adrenaline rush when the camera moved to show VY Canis Majoris. I was like," Okay darn. I know how big and all this star is... Lets see how it is compared to our Solar System." And BAM! It scared me to think that Uranus is smaller than that huge thang.
@MonkeyAttack2 Because when the first version of this was made VY Canis Majoris' size was somewhat disputed. Its only about 2% bigger than VV Cephei A.
This one is of the best stars / earth scaling videos on youtube. I love this sort of stuff anyway but due to the massive sizes of these the biggest known stars it's difficult to comprehend. Most videos don't do it justice, but this one does a good job of it. Nice work.
@KissMeQuk Betelguese is begger by about 500x. It has a solar radii of ~1180 while Vega has a solar radii of 2.26-2.78 (The equator is significantly larger because of the incredible rotation speed which makes it slightly more disk-like. Its actually is at 93% of the rotation speed of which it would be destroyed by centrifugal forces)
vy canis majoris is 1 billion time larger than our sun, but this one... i think 700millions times, this sun ist a little bit smaler than vy canis majoris.

@domino817
Light travels in one year roughly 5.87 trillion miles.
VV Cephei A is 2,400 light years away from Earth.
