Paul, the reason why this video makes you sick and and angry in such a disproportionate way is because deep down you know it's true. I don' t think they should use condemnation methods to talk about hell but the bottom line is that by watching this video and by hearing these words it reminds you of your terrible state. It is not right to condemn and make people (including children) feel guilty about not sharing their faith. I agree with this. What I am saying is that your anger is irrational. It has its source elsewhere. You can't stand it because it's true. The message is true: Hell exists. The way they chose to communicate it lacks grace.

I am a Christian. I do think that it would be a bit much to show something like that to children. Children and adults should be loved into the kingdom of God. It would not be right to not tell someone of coming judgement, but there are more diplomatic ways of doing so, particularly for children.

I'm guilty of being too gentle with believers a lot of the time, probably because I used to be one. I was subjected to that type of material as a kid, and I agree 100% with your outrage. It is also one of the reasons why I am soft handed when talking to them about things, because such horrifying tactics are used to indoctrinate them. I agree though, that righteous indignation is absolutely the appropriate response to something like that video.

I watched alot of nasty shit on the internet. Gore, faces of death, all kinds of sexual weird stuff.. Ive watched a 10 minutes very realistic rape scene from the disgusting movie "Irreversible" , and also the movie "Salo" who is considered the most shocking and disturbing film of all kind...
But that movie you linked to ive comed to realize is way worse. Its really, really fucking insane. Think of the fear and guilt a small child must feel. The panic and fear must be overwhelming.

When I was in grade 11, a terrible car crash killed three fellow students. Two were Christian, one was not. At the school's memorial service, the mother of one of the Christian students said that she was comforted by the fact that the two Christians were in Heaven, and added that she hoped that the third found Jesus in the last moments of her life.
I was horrified as it was, and if she had continued in that vein... grieving mother or not, I would have marched up there and slapped her face.

I am a Christian. I do think that it would be a bit much to show something like that to children. Children and adults should be loved into the kingdom of God. It would not be right to not tell someone of coming judgement, but there are more diplomatic ways of doing so, particularly for children.

A while ago I did a video where I took that video and edited it so it switched back and fourth between that video and Carl Sagan's "Pale Blue Dot". I did it to demonstrate the differences between two different kinds of what some might call Propaganda. I had to put a warning at the start because of "The christian Video", but there was no reason to warn anyone about "The Atheist Video".

I went to a jesus camp where a councilor,who an was ex-Navy Vietnam vet, told a similar scenario...it seems his best friend had been headshot by a sniper while they were talking together...he never got to warn his friend of hell....yada fuckin' yada...my point is that his story was really graphic and it was told to me in 1983. the first time i saw that video it was posted in a bulletin on myspace by one of my friends, (she's in high school, btw) and i almost cried. i was so disgusted i can't even begin to explain, it was one of the most sickening and infuriating moments of my life, fucking christian propaganda. i'd fare better in germany in the years hitler rose to power.
