do you really need to ask that? ?? Its common sense really. The heavier the BB the less FPS and distance you will get but you'll get a higher "BB's per second'. There is absolutely no point in being able to fire 25 bb's per second if you cant hit targets at distance! So, start with .2g bb's and work from there according to the enviroment you are working in. If you are doing CCB then use heavier BB's because DISTANCE isnt a problem, so you can use .3g BB's......
... but if our outdoors then you need to figure out how you play as a person. Basically the heavier the BB the greeatest accuracy you will get but only up to a point. If its RANGE then you have to figure out what works best with what gun you have dude. heavier BB's equals more accurance (but at the cost of RANGE) lighter bb's equals better RANGE but at the cost of accuracy!
I shoot 450 and have upgraded to an R-HOP and use .36 They shoot flatter, hit harder, and have better range than .28. I can also hit targets at 300ft with the same accuracy you show in your video.
The reason .25s werent as accurate as all the others is because the wind probably pushed the bbs in a different way.The best way to test this is with a bipod and indoor range with gun that shoots 400fps..25s are very good for in doors/non windy areas but if you live in a windy area outside .30s are very higly reccomended.I know from personal experience.
ok just to get this clear for people getting into this sport, your accuracy is due to the quality of the bb and the tightness and bore size of your barrel. for people looking to get a gun, first look at your environment, if you have a windy environment you are going to want a higher fps gun using heavier grade bbs. less windy go with lower fps lighter grade bbs. the weight of the bb only is prevalent when you want to achieve further distances and with less wind-age effected firing.
@wonderworld32 .20 gram should work fine. Heavier bb's are generally more accurate, so use the heaviest weight your gun can fire at a reasonable velocity.
k cool thanks do you think i would get better accuracy with .30 or more since it seemed the heavyer bbs u used improved and your gun is shooting at 380 to 400 fps?
nice video! i was just wondering im new to this airsoft and bought a mauser pro sniper a few days ago it says 572 fps with. 12 bbs what weight bbs shoud i be using?
"150 feet is the average distance of most airsoft guns".....ehmmmmm I can shoot that with my sub 250 fps Marui MP7, I think you should get your numbers straight.
@bmxforlife731 If it's an AEG, your gun is probably so badly degraded right now internally it's not even funny. If it's a springer, it's still not very good. On a 375FPS gun, you need .20g, .23g or .25g. My gun is also 375FPS and I use .23g. If you keep using .12g's, your gun is going to continue to get damaged by them.
Do you think .23g bb's are good for my gun? It's a Cyma CM028, shoots around 375 feet per second with .20g. I just ordered 2,000 of them off of Evike. Only $5.50.
@0FluffyBunniez0 There will always be a curve, as the BB drop. But it shouldn't drop straight away, how far does the BB travel before it starts dropping ? And what type of gun is it ? Might have something to do with the barrel or hop-up.
@Smennyboy its a g&g combat machine cm16 raider it travels about 45-50 ft before starting to drop i got the gun 2 days ago it worked fine in the indoor arena but maybe because im outside and its windy out
@0FluffyBunniez0 I have the same gun in the non blowback version. Weird that the BB drops so quick though, mine has been great. I doubt it's the wind, it will mostly just blow the BB off target, not make it drop faster. Try fiddling with the hop-up for a bit, and maybe clean the barrel. If the problem does not go away, I would have swapped out the barrel and hop-up. If it shoots 350 fps I doubt the cylinder is the problem, but it might be. What kind of BB's are you using ?
@0FluffyBunniez0 Oh, so we have the exact same gun then, cool ! I was thinking about the brand of BB's, could be a quality problem, but I doubt it. I have used some OK quality BB's, and it has worked great either way. Mine shoots fairly straight for about 30-40 meters in the woods. I would try reconfiguring the hop-up and see if it helps, but if you just got the gun, I would return it and get a new one if you can't straiten it up with the hop-up.
@bmxforlife731 In short : It depends, but any half decent gun that shoots roughly 1 Joule (330 fps W/ a 0.2g) or greater should be using at the very least a 0.2 G bb. Reasons are a 0.12 is too light and will fly off course after a short distance from limited kinetic energy, ALSO it will loose speed and energy very rapidly because it can't cut through the air (also lack of kinetic energy), and Lastly 0.12 bb's are TYPICALLY crap and will more likely shatter inside the gun which really can suck.
@AstromanDj Not necessarily. Here in Norway you can use a 500 fps bolt action sniper rifle, but you can't shoot anyone closer than 40 meters for safety. The rules varies from country to country. And also, those are the rules the airsoft association uses, there are a few people who play outside the association, and they make up their own rules.
i had a bb gun and when i used 0.20 g it just dipes with power and i brought 0.25 g and the range got even shorter and the bb diped down and hit the floor with even more power, so i cant to it to wars with my mates bacause of this problem how do you fix it?
yeah i think i have realised that now because it doesnt even have a hop up so its a bad gun its only a budget gun so its not to bad. Plz check out my vids and subscribe thx
@Danph77 it has got more power then my other gun but it hasnt got as much range. I dont know why this is happening do you think its because it hasnt got a hop up
@PeTrOnE362 Kind of actually too light .... most snipers start at 400fps, and even for that you should be using .25g. 450 = .28g/.30g, and 500+ = .33g to .43g.
@WalrusAirsoft believe it or not there are amazing with the utg l96 airsoft sniper so far there are working fine but i am going ruin out soon so ill try the 0.25 bbs when i ruin out ill by some on evike

@IIIPMIIl I see that you know better and I don't see the point to straighten few another things because they aren't dangerous:)In fact these are good mistakes;)About BB's for restrictions i only added that they are ALWAYS on 0.2g (or should be because on that weight and HU set to 0, fps of gun should be measured).I hadn't in mind to insult you or something, just wanted to make it clear that using heavier BB does "downgrade"fps on chrono but not the actual power measured in "J" what is important.
@IIIPMIIl I'm afraid that you are wrong. Restrictions are always made on 0.2g BB (normal restrictions, local depends of players on site) and only that fps count is legit. When you use heavier bb fps on chrono is getting less but the power stays same (or, as you can see in this video penetrating power gets bigger). Danph77 is right here, only way to downgrade fps as it should be is the spring. Please, be accurate if you want to help someone because with advice like that someone could get hurt.
I have an MP5 that shoots steadily 410-425 fps with .20g, I want to use this for CQB without tuning down the spring. Would using a heavier bb die down the fps to where its usable?
@MrNinjaSquirrels - No, where FPS may be reduced the overall joules stays the same. Therefore it will not work. In fact a heavier gram BB traveling slower will have more noticeable impact than a lighter one traveling at a faster speed. Example 9mm vs .45 debate
@Danph77 ohhhh, so what should I do? Most airsoft places won't let me take it in. for CQB max fps is 350 while Outdoors its 400fps max. My MP5 is shooting way too high over that CQB marker.
Oh, I was thinking bout the cyber gun g36(shit), soo ummm I posted a review on one of ma guns, it's called, airsoft sniper tips for beginners, u should see it, I figure that's it's on YouTube by now
Listen kid, if yo gun is under 400 fps stay away from 25g bbs, this dude was not actually 150 feet away, for his fps they hit target too fast, sry dude but ur misleading other children.
@TheGermanshepherd101 - Actually distances were measured. The gun in the video was shooting @ ~420 fps with .25g. So you don't know what you are talking about.
@TheCrimsondragoon Yes, because the heavier the BB the less prone it is to wind blowing it off course and wind resistance etc. But you have to balance weight with range reduction and how well your gearbox can propell each bb. I recommend getting a small sample of .20 and .25 even .28 and see which you prefer.. Don't just listen to the manufacturer, use what works for you.
This is an amazing review, I haven't found anything else even close. I will be using it for all of my gramage needs from now on. Just to round it off and make it perfect, could you tell us how much you had to adjust your aim with the heavier BB's (how much higher you had to shoot)?
The JG MK36C(Latest Edition) is listed as a CQB gun, but has a listed velocity of 370 fps. would this mean I use .25 grams, even though .20 grams are recommended?
@TheButtersfan - Those are optimal weights. You really need to experiment with grams above optimal to get the best one for your gun. FPS is not the only variable when it comes to picking the best gram BB. However I would say .30 or .36 would work good in your gun.
PLEASE REPLY , what happens if i have a gun that fires around 380 fps and i use .12 bbs????

TheGermanshepherd101 3 months ago
K sorry, but g36 is lk 350 fps n no upgrades
TheGermanshepherd101 3 months ago
@TheGermanshepherd101 - This one is a KWA...it has been chronoed. Not every gun has the same stock FPS by type...
Danph77 3 months ago
Listen kid, if yo gun is under 400 fps stay away from 25g bbs, this dude was not actually 150 feet away, for his fps they hit target too fast, sry dude but ur misleading other children.
TheGermanshepherd101 3 months ago
@TheGermanshepherd101 - Actually distances were measured. The gun in the video was shooting @ ~420 fps with .25g. So you don't know what you are talking about.

imabigboy21 3 months ago
so basiclly the heavier the bb the more accurate
TheCrimsondragoon 3 months ago 16
@TheCrimsondragoon Yes, because the heavier the BB the less prone it is to wind blowing it off course and wind resistance etc. But you have to balance weight with range reduction and how well your gearbox can propell each bb. I recommend getting a small sample of .20 and .25 even .28 and see which you prefer.. Don't just listen to the manufacturer, use what works for you.

This is an amazing review, I haven't found anything else even close. I will be using it for all of my gramage needs from now on. Just to round it off and make it perfect, could you tell us how much you had to adjust your aim with the heavier BB's (how much higher you had to shoot)?
enemafrenzy 3 months ago
@enemafrenzy - Adjust the hopup to compensate for heavier gram. Gun was level the entire time. Only change was gram and hopup dial.

i am using a aftermath typhoon m9 gbb should i use .25 or .20
MrHotrod68 4 months ago
The JG MK36C(Latest Edition) is listed as a CQB gun, but has a listed velocity of 370 fps. would this mean I use .25 grams, even though .20 grams are recommended?
destroyerdogRX78 4 months ago
Danph77 if i bought a ak47 that 60mm bb's that is 380fps is that good
awesomeperson7100 4 months ago
Good vid but seems to forget to mention the lost of speed (fps). The more it ways the slower it goes
sharpdell12 4 months ago
I have a Kalashnikov AK47 Blowback full metal body with wood construction that has 530 fps so where would i get .43g bb's?

the question i ask is why is canada so gay and only sell ones that break the second time u use them
unholydude101 4 months ago
Do the same rules apply to bolt action snipers as well? i have an AGM L96 that does 450fps with .2s, so would you still recommend .28s or go higher?
TheButtersfan 4 months ago
@TheButtersfan - Those are optimal weights. You really need to experiment with grams above optimal to get the best one for your gun. FPS is not the only variable when it comes to picking the best gram BB. However I would say .30 or .36 would work good in your gun.
Danph77 4 months ago
@TheButtersfan i would go for .30 grams on airsplat, i have a well mb03 that shoots 480 fps, similar
the101manalltheway 3 months ago

150Tommi 4 months ago
@150Tommi - .25g
Danph77 4 months ago
well to fucking bad my m4 sucks with 0,20g and its 312-300 ish fps and 0,25g bbs is recomended for all upgraded guns
mp7fanlol 4 months ago
The only two disadvantages to using heavyweight BBs in your gun
Travel time to target
Price
Heavier BBs are more accurate, and have identical range. They also have better brush cutting abilities.
airsoftassasins 4 months ago
You have to also take the hop into account. I have TM guns >300fps and .25 and .28 works the best because it has a awsome hop.
MRhacki101 4 months ago
Isn't the .25 black
boxturtle12345 5 months ago
