@PHvlogger I meant to reply to your comment here, but I was on my phone and shit was fucking up so I think my reply actually got sent to you in a message.
also, i read the whole description. glad you were able to sell the microphone, and i'm appreciative that you offered to sell it to me first. ;-D i'm buying a new computer/camera as early as tomorrow, so i may be in the market for an audio solution soon. your rig seems to be pretty impressive so i may consider it.
i've been meaning to play around with making my own softboxes. could you point me to a tutorial or whatever you used to make yours? i'd be very interested.
@fecklessman i just sent you a pm regarding softboxes - i just reread and realized you said you've been considering making your own, but i wrote...well actually it's late and i'm not sure what I TYPED not wrote, but anyway, I think I typed whatever I typed having not recalled "i've been meaning to play around with making my own softboxes..." but hopefully whatever I typed will be of some use to you.
heya, cam. you lighting is impeccable, as always. the audio is good... one may actually complain that it's... too good. it picks up EVERYTHING! may want to scale it back ever-so-slightly. it did add an uncomfortable vibe, though, so the effect was there.
if i make one criticism: the man in the orange shirt should be looking to his left, not slightly off to the right. even if he is indeed looking at where the other man is standing, looking across the frame is less visually distracting.
@fecklessman good points. I also may have had the mic too close - i'd say I had it less than or right around a foot from my mouth - literally just out of frame. I wanted to make sure my voice was captured "fully".
I read your bullshit, lol I will use that for future reference, I still have to deicpher it a little. lol :D Thanks for the tips, excellente video as always, even if I can't ever get what you're saying the first time around lol :D
I would be interested in a video about your life/updates! I really loved how you did sound reduction in this video, it's what made it feel to me like a real conversation and not the same guy filming himself twice. I also really enjoyed the dialogue, so I guess the seventeen point eight five million earlier drafts really improved it.
I heart you so hard. Brilliant dialogue as usual. I really enjoyed the facial expressions you did as the "host" I guess you could call him. The eyes cast to the side coupled with the look on the face, just great!
@bmacfn16 yea - i guess "host" is a good word, not too complicated. thanks for the feedback. one thing I did differently filming this video was that when I was filming one part, during the portions where each character was not speaking, I went through the lines the other character would have been saying - so basically I left a lot of space of me making faces, etc. that I could splice in wherever needed...if that makes any sense.
the lighting techniques REALLY work in this video, much better than your last IMO.
The tension is so great here too, I think the complaint I had about "static camera work" in your last video has been totally eradicated here with the better lighting, thus allowing me to be more drawn in by your dialogue, which is always well written.
@themefund glad you liked it more...to be honest, I liked the lighting in this video more too. I tried to step away from the black background, floating head look (lol) from the last few videos - having the whole frame lit up instead of just my face is also more fitting of this type of video...but I might try it again with a "killer" video...or maybe I should just go back to the days when I filmed upstairs in daylight. how did you feel about the audio quality?
@camdogie I did notice a change in audio, but I've also changed my personal speaker systems since you last released a video, so I couldn't be sure which was the contributor.
"maybe I don't live in a world of facts and reason. Maybe I live in a world where you're a goddamned liar." mmmmm. beautiful line.
This is so... palpable... like the tension is so thick and beautiful that I feel like I could reach out and take a bite of it. You have no idea how much I admire you.
@Myfkduplilworld glad you liked it...and more importantly, glad you read the "description" - I actually spent a good deal of time typing that crap up...the production notes are in the interest of full disclosure.
Interesting production notes. I have the hf200 and am still trying to figure out how to get the best out of it. I am still learning how to light shots a lot better. Keep it up, I really enjoy that your stuff is unlike most of the other stuff on this site.
@camdogie I guess there isn't too much that is in the same genre as your videos. A lot of the stuff I have seen has been comedy or music or shorts etc. Maybe there is a lot of drama or videos with a more serious sense to it, but I haven't happened upon them like I have yours. Either way, they are really cool, my friend!
"Well, maybe I don't live in a world of facts . . . and reason"
You should join the GOP.
