Texas is the cleanest state. I live just outside of DC (also known as Dump City) in Fairfax, VA. Fairfax is so dirty, since moving here I started having breathing problems. The littering law is also enforced in Texas, unlike in Virginia. I miss the blue open skies over Texas.

Carbon emissions, not pollution. Sure, the plants will love carbon dioxide, but us non-vegetables sure prefer oxygen to survive. Never mind global warming and other disruptions to the planet. Regardless of whether you buy into any of this, there is limited supply of oil and coal on the planet. You've heard of supply and demand, that is why oil prices are rising! But hey, if you can't change your ways, then inflation will ensure your way of life is reduced to the stone age.

I am OK with whatever rational you use to reach the conclusion: "getting off oil dependence is good", except I would include all fossil fuels.

Sometimes the debate confuses the issue. Even if some of the following are wrong:

- Global warming

- Peak oil

- Pollution

- Dependence on middle east

- Climate change

- Foreign relations

Just a few of them being right leads to the conclusion you stated. As long as we can agree on the conclusion, I don't care how you came to it.

Stop the lies! The only way vegetation (rain forest) can produce carbon dioxide is by being burned or rotting from being killed. Basic biology, plants produce more oxygen than they consume when they grow.

Carbon emmisions need to be dealt with as much as water and other air pollution. It' snot an either/or.
