  • CVTs are supposed to keep engine in its power band. not really here.

  • im confused... wtf is up with first gear?

  • @zak4829

    It's CVT.

  • @zak4829 look up how a snowmobile transmission works. its basically the same only beefier. its a CVT like the other dude said. and it keeps the engine running at its peak power naturally under hard acceleration, and has no shift-shock. i think its pretty cool, a nice innovation yet to be further refined, but ill still take my 5 on the fly in my Xterra over anything that shifts for me, and any day. lol still cool though.

  • @highdeserthater I've hated my 2010's acceleration! Even off of Overdrive and keeping it in Low, it's SLOW.

  • whats are the times diferrence between first ad second gen´s murano?

  • @brucenash newest murano is about .5-.8 secinds fater to 60 and traps 3-4 mph higher

  • @occckid123 thanks man

  • I love the CVT. No shift shock. I prefer not feeling the shifting.

  • @aaaaachtung i don't know if you're aware but nissan makes infiniti...

  • POrq naum acelera essa Poha!!!!

  • Who buys a Murano these days? Lol

  • Look my Escape 3.0liters with 6 speed auto, less then 8 seconds...

  • no one likes the cvt.

  • subaru forester is very very faster with just 2.5 liters engine !

  • @alek123ish You are lie. Subaru over 10 sec. Murano 7 sec get your facts straight.

  • Gosh, CVT kills the daylight out of pleasure driving! Such a boring way to drive. Sounds like there's only one gear and you rev the engine till it runs out of puff!

  • If you finesse the CVT a little bit, you can get it 0-60 in about 7 seconds.. Although, I drive an 03, so the new ones might be geared a bit differently. If I want to go faster, I never gun the gas pedal, I take it about half way, and have to feel it out. If you just jam on it, it won't accelerate as fast.. At least that's what I've found.

  • Was this in sport mode? I drive my mom's 06 in sport when i accelerate, makes it more fun and seems a bit faster than what i saw in this video

  • @pantstofry there isnt a sport mode.

  • @occckid123 is there like a manual mode then? Must've changed it for the newer models then.

  • @pantstofry no

  • its a 3.5 liter not a 3.6

  • @occckid123 Thanks for catching the typo! Fixed ...

  • @mpgomatic welcome. i wonder if u can coax the cvt in the murano to get the rpms up quicker by double tapping the accelerator. i can do it in my versa with cvt. Doing so makes the rpms spike up quickly compared to if u just smash the pedal. So it goes like this. mash for 1.5 seconds lift off the throttle 25%and mash again(just a really quick release(25%) and push. In my videos watch the difference between the rpm at 30 mph of my newest video and compare it to my 0-100 mph video of the versa..

  • @occckid123 Interesting technique! 100 mph in a Versa? :O

  • @mpgomatic yea watch the video where i do 118 lol

  • @occckid123 >shakes head<

  • what a first gear!!

  • Faster then a accord crosstour

  • @jsnevels2 - True, but wait 'til I post the review (almost done) ... the Crosstour demolished the highway mileage numbers.

Maybe there should be a pro racing series for crossovers. It would be a mix of shopping mall parking lot autocross, soccer park gravel road quasi-offroading, and Dunkin' Donuts drivethrus. And drifting, of course ...

    Naaaaa ....

  • @mpgomatic But i still would take the murano. Whats mieage for the crosstour and murano

  • @jsnevels2 It's all cool. The 2010 Murano SL AWD is rated at 18/23. The Crosstour AWD is rated at 17/25.

  • @mpgomatic Dang

  • lol, what's the point

  • I have driven the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback GTS (Big mistake as the depreciation is quite high but i have bought a Jeep Liberty 4x4 Limited afterwards). With the CVT it took me awhile to get used to it. One thing that creeps me about it is that the engine rpms stays quite the same while the speed increases.

  • I've driven many 2003-2006 ( about 12 ) Muranos & I just don't see the advantage in speed, fuel efficiency, & reliability & I've put over 350 miles in some. . Some which even needed total CVT replacement. I also hate that grinding or high pitch whine some make when flooring them on the highway.

Actually I saw no difference in fuel economy nor the RPMs were that low when doing 80. I've driven a Ford Edge and it was much better with it's 6 Sp, It does 80MPH @ 1700RPM & better MPGs.

  • A lot of people knock CVTs and have never actually driven or owned one. Yes the behavior is unusual but it really works. I actually own a Murano and can tell you that it never feels "underpowered" or "like its going to blow up" - the acceleration is smooth and responsive - you just have to get used to the incongruent engine tone compared to the revs of a normal transmission. Not very sporty feeling, but definitely more efficient and probably makes better use of the engine's powerband too.

  • Am scared of CVT transmission...it feels like if the engine will blow up at anytime if you need to go at a high speed and have an underpowered engine.

  • CVTs only work if you drive gently. If you floor the gas pedal (to pass on the highway or something similar), you would normally downshift to a lower gear (or let the automatic do it for you). In a CVT, there's no lower gear, so until it changes into a good gear ratio, you're at redline, giving the impression that the car's underpowered or the transmission needs servicing.

  • I have nothing against CVTs but they are truly horrible for me...they might be good for fuel consumption and other things but it takes the fun of a manual or even of a normal automatic were you feel the change of the gears. I also think that it gets boring and the driver gets tired over time. But at the end it depends on the taste of the person but who doesn't like a 6 speed manual, the great BMW DCT or Audi`s S tronic transmission?

Cheers and great video continue with the nice work!

  • @lovecars890 Thanks for the kind words! CVTs are fuel-efficient, no doubt about that. I've always personally preferred a good manual transmission, but have grown to appreciate the new dual clutch automatics.

  • @lovecars890 I agree. The CVT's are boring to drive. They also give you a weird perception of how fast you're actually going. Because you can't feel any gear changes, you can't really guesstimate how fast you're going unless you look at the speedo. I tend to speed far more in a CVT lol

  • @lovecars890

Agree, with CVTs seems you are driving a golf cart

  • @lovecars890 agreed man cvt transmission sucks balls man i couldnt not drive that lol i would want to the feeling of the gear to change.

  • First cvt's, then SMG's. Soon no more clutch pedals. This makes baby jesus cry.

  • These CVT Trans are weird

  • Not bad for an SUV that large.

Too bad it's a CVT transmission...

What ever happened to having a manual transmission?

Mashing the clutch to the floor, throwing it into the next gear, letting the clutch off as you feed the vehicle more power and gas...

    :/

  • ugh CVTs are so weird. they are taking over :\
