It’s a terrible tragedy that Bobby Hebb has passed away. You can help remember him by contributing to his memorial website at bobbyhebb*people2remember*com
Can't believe i've missed this after all these years. Fantastic lyrics and sound. Heard this on a rainy Sun afternoon on Paul O' Grady's Radio 2 show in my shed. How sad is this. Keep the faith.!!!
Does anyone understand what Bobby says in the second verse "Sweet love is all round you..." and in the last verse "Love is a power baby that's makin missile ranger..." ?
sweet love is all around you So love's its own refrain in love there's so much pleasure and yet there's so much pain Love is a girl you babe So warm and oh so tender Love has a power baby That's making me surrender When I look into your soft eyes I melt like candy jam I'll do anything to please you Yeah anything I can
Played this to death on 'Soul Scene' from London's Dynamite 235, 'The BigD on 1277' in 1973, an early, and powerful AM pirate (heard in Sweden) every Sunday.
no offence, im a soul boy, but you wont find the lyrics to this on any lyric site on the net, it easier to replay it a few times and jot it down, or if you really like it go to a nighter every week and ask for it to be played you will soon pick it up when you are dancin to it :)
Thanks Ian, As you often asked both myself PCJ Fielding (then Preston)& Frank Sanderson( Preston) to dance for you to records that you were playing for the first time, to make sure the Dance floor was busy so others would join us !!and as this was the 1st record I bought,I just once again wanted to say Thank you. Ian
You damn right! Do you realize that's the one thing in life that no one can outspend you on and that's the luxury of hearing great music. It's not secluded to the kings and queens. It's a blessing!
Great track Ian! whomever played bass on this track did a killer job, especially after the break. I can't recall if the original had that bass line towards the end.
They can take away the bricks and mortar ...but they cant take away the Soul..that will live on in those of us that lived for Saturday night in the Highland Room...Thanks for keeping us happy with your postings........

We re-recorded the song and filmed Bobby singing it in 1999, in Massachussetts, right by the glorious Atlantic Ocean, on a clear blue sunny day.
