  • That is true. Faith alone justifies, but faith is never alone...faith without works is dead. But that does not mean works add to faith..works show that faith is real...Pastor Lassman

  • I agree its not what we do to get to heaven but its what God did for us. the works are just evidence of Him who lives in us.

Just like how we see an apple tree is an apple tree it bears the fruit of apples.. not we switch it to us the works and how we do the works are considered the fruit of the spirit nurtured and feed by the spirit of God through Jesus Christ.

Without Jesus it is still possible to do good works but in ones will. The only will he have is to allow God to work through ..

  • (that "not" in the first paragraph is supposed to be a "now")

..us in the works that God provokes us to do.

  • Well said........thank you for your comments.........Pastor Lassman

  • Yep......you're a good Roman Catholic.. for sure!

  • The good pastor has confused "works of the law" with good works. Please read Galations 2 for clarification of the difference. Circumcision is an example of works of law which Paul decries. Feeding the poor, and other works of mercy, are not works of law and are meritorious.

  • What Bible translation is this? Anyway, compare this passage to Psalm 106:30-31. Looks like Phineas was justified by his works and faith.
