Do you mean backwards as in the wrong side facing outwards (tack on the inside, back on outside) or as in wrong direction? If it was towards the wrong direction, you may have just gripped it the equivalent of a left handed player's grip. I've known several players who use a left handed style grip while being right handed, and they just get used to it, not having any problems. If you meant the tack on the inside and the backing on the outside, it just won't be very tacky.
i'm thinking about changing my wilson hybrid pro grip on my racquets to a leather grip with an over grip. any ideas about a good combo that i can use to preserve my handle size?
Thank you sooo much! I kept on just watching people on Youtube put on grips you don't have to cut, and I didn't know how to cut the one i bought. Thanks for the help!
for a racquet like the babolat aerodrive, should i use the original grip for a while, then put on a overgrip,or could i put on an overgrip as soon as i got it?
@tenniswarehouse Yeah, thanks for telling me. I am really fond with the Wilson Pro Overgrip which I have used for 2 years and when I started using them, I was unexperienced and not sure whether I could have put it on a while ago.
There are two categories of grips: Overgrips and replacement grips.
When installing an overgrip as shown here, it goes over your existing grip. Overgrips are not very durable and need to be changed frequently. Their advantage is that they save your original grip from wear and offer you a ton of different choices in level of tack, cushioning, absorption, perforation etc.
A replacement grip is much thicker, has adhesive backing and replaces your existing grip.
i was demoing a racquet from a pro shop the other day, and it had an overgrip that looked a lot like the one in this video. it was white, rubbery, and felt really good to me. the only grip i saw at this shop was "super grap." is that what was on here?

so does the side with the adhesive go on the bottom? Because my friend keeps saying it goes on top and after that I got really confused.
Cardshark45 6 months ago
@Cardshark45
The adhesive is meant to be face down, adhering to the grip, making it easier and quicker to apply the overgrip.

@theMrawesome999,
You can use an overgrip immediately if you desire. There are many to choose from with options from dry and absorbent to very tacky.

does it matter which direction to wrap (clockwise or counter-clockwise) for right or left handed player?
pluib 7 months ago
@pluib Yes. For right handers, wrap counter clockwise. For left handers, wrap clockwise.
