The reason why most programmers here said "I didn't get the joke here." is because what is shown in the video is really what they do! Thankfully we have got Phyton today, anything (including gravity) can easily be imported.

The point of the joke is the way how non-programmers view programmers. Non-programmers think that programmers just play games all the time and when the deadline comes, they employ some instant magic and the project is finished.

It was made in 1990, Nick. I shot it on Super-8 film, which was silent. It was possible to make sound movies back then, of course, but this was a student project and there wasn't time.
I wouldn't call it a "point," but not having sound does force you to tell the story in pictures, which might be a good exercise for any filmmaker.
