Ron Paul is right on a lot of issues but where I think he misses the boat is the difference between a perfect world and a very imperfect world. It's nice to think that people will help each other out but we've been taught to lock our doors and be suspicious of anyone doing good deeds. And to just deregulate everything (which we've been suffering the results of since Reagan) and hope that people do right is just naive. But I wouldn't vote for any of the other Republican alternatives.

No, I believe they need 10,000 signatures, as well as a certain number from each county. The law varies state by state, I know at least one state that just has an entry fee and you get on the ballot. Most are a bit more complex I believe.

@TheHorsenation Ok, I just looked into it. He asserts that money creation is in entirely private hands and the solution is to give it back to government, as if that ever worked. As if the Federal Reserve were somehow independent of government when the head is appointed by the President. He actually talks about setting 'inflation targets', which is proof positive he is no Austrian (economist). A gold standard means there is 'no' money creation, neither private nor government.

@TheHorsenation thats insane, some brothers in the 80s tried to corner the silver market and got burned bad. no single entity could corner the gold market even if they wanted to however Jim Rickards author of currency wars pointed out that if china and russia pooled their gold together they could create a new gold backed currency and require all transactions going into or out of their respective countries be denominated in this new currency. Why use dollars when you have something better?

@TheHorsenation No one can 'corner the market' in gold. There are ~165,000 tons of gold in the world. The only way to 'corner that market' would be to somehow wind up owning 'most' of the world's gold. That's like saying that you would corner the market in some commodity by owning half the world. The richest man on the planet owns like 1/1000th of it. So all they have to do to 'corner the market' is for the richest man to get 500 times wealthier.

No, I believe they need 10,000 signatures, as well as a certain number from each county. The law varies state by state, I know at least one state that just has an entry fee and you get on the ballot. Most are a bit more complex I believe.

We have to bypass the media, craft our own message in our own way, and get it directly to the voters. It's the only way we'll have a chance. Know that your consciences will be clear in that you did what you could to try and awaken your fellow man.
