Very nice indeed! Kinda like a mini hotwire lathe, I recently made a hit wire cutter and had been wondering what things I could do with it, I'll try a version of this myself if you don't mind.
I prefer to use the tooth part of the lower jaw of endangered turtles to cut my foam with. Oh, I know what you're thinking but rest assure they are alive, unharmed and actually like helping me around the house with my hobbies. I also use the fine wood of the protected dimperdoodlesnizzlesnork tree from the rain forests of Eastern Bababooee for my wooden jig.

Of course your method is still nice and cost effective.

It's not rigid at all, it's soft and light and I use these wheels for remote controlled airplanes.
