Been watching this thread. A conspiracy is basically an agreement between parties to do an illegal thing. If the law makes it possible to make illness management legal, it isn't a conspiracy. Meanwhile these same legislators would fly their own families out of the country if they ever got sick to get treatment elsewhere. Great video, and so so true. I can tell you from personal experience that anti-depressants cause more side effects than anything. Big-Pharma are the biggest drug dealers out there and it's all legal!
This is not an advertisement for homoeopathy, crystal healing or whatever other fabrication you think is medicine. She is not saying that these "alternatives" are any better than the placebos in treatment, nor should they replace scientifically validated pharmaceuticals in the treatment of disease.

There are many elderly in nursing homes who are taking medications as well as the push on kids in schools, this is just painful and insane, but we need to be our own advocates. Sending everyone some love.
The tragedy is that the current physician training is the equivalent to drug distribution, not cause and cure. Most parents teach children to trust doctors. Many young adults cannot remember "real medicine." How do we direct someone seeking medical care when homeopathy does not exist anymore? Rules and regs have put them out of business.

@Shindai Let me make this clear. Type 1 diabetes is inherited and you need a prescription. Type 2 diabetes is due to poor diet and lack of exercise.
Secondly, obesity and diabetes costs an average of $700,000 per patient (this is documented). So if you have type 1 diabetes, I am sorry for your condition. If you have type 2 diabetes, take responsibility for your health. It is proven that this can be CURED by DIET and EXERCISE.

I was diagnosed type 1 a couple of months after my twelfth birthday, though my diet at the time was shocking and may have had something to do with it lol.
I just got off depressants because they were making me depressed (go figure), and the first thing they say to me is "maybe we need to look at anti-depressants". The entire industry (psychiatrists, psychologists, psych workers, pharmacists and drug companies) is designed to get every single person on the planet to be on some sort of drug. The DSM (Diagnostic Statistical Manual) has an illness or disorder for ever single person on the planet. With a corresponding drug they want to sell you.

Kudos to you for coming clean on big pharma. I have watched family and friends go to early graves because of the adverse effects of drug cocktails. Metformin or glucophage killed my father who died of pancreatic cancer and never had diabetes. My mother inlaw, took the same drug. She developed similar symptoms and died due to bowel cancer. A friend in Brixham took metformin and became seriously ill, skin yellow, eyes yellow, indicating liver failure. symptoms reversed when he stopped the drug!
The problem is we love dope. For instance, ADD is cured with diet and excersise. Almost 100% of the time. Who wants to hear that though? Cocaine "cures" it too. Most people would rather take the synthetic coke they make and sit on the couch eating potato chips. The only reason they don't use real cocaine is it would immediately reveal the complete hypocrisy of the "War on Drugs." Pain management drugs are even worse as they deepen the neural pathways that cause the pain in the first place.

It doesn't take a genius to be a salesman like this woman. It does take a genius to invent a cure for disease, such as antibiotics (which incidentally are still developed by Pharmas, don't require you to take them forever and without which I would not be here now).

Gwen in not saying medicine isn't scientifically proven in many cases -- she's saying the system of funding, discovering and providing medicines is broken, and doesn't have the reduction of human suffering as a goal. No one's saying PROVEN medicine doesn't work (although undoubtably some studies have been twisted by vested interests, but again, that's a symptom of a broken system).

@tahine2005 I don't know if you want to lump in a "last hope" cancer treatment drug that hasn't undergone widespread testing yet into a list of quality medications. Also from what all I've read on it, the impression I got is that it also is a drug you would be on for the rest of your life (which would probably be rather short since it is a drug for stage 3-4 lung cancer patients).
@inademv My father passed away years ago from a lung cancer that's probably the reason I thought it was an amazing discover. I'm not a scientist and I don't know anything about the mecanisms of the cancer and their treatments.

The majority of Americans REFUSE to diet, exercise, and take control of their health/lives.
People will smoke, drink, eat, sex, and drug themselves to their own harm.
DONT BLAME PHARMA FOR BAD HABITS - GET REAL !
So what if company advertises for a disease state ? Big deal. Address the source and stop alcohol, fast food, sex, and smoking.
If it were not for research and development - many diseases and lives would be shortened.

@mykesinger Unfortunately, I AM blaming pharma for 1 simple reason. We now all have to pay into the system!!! The President just passed the law.
As to your second point, this is NONSENSE. The R&D is NOT to shorten a disease and lengthen your life, they are for making PROFITS.
I have known many people in my lifetime who have lived to 90 or 100 and NONE of these people got here by taking DRUGS. They simply lived a clean lifestyle (agreeing with your earlier point). Please don't be gullible.

@bobf4428 Of course drug companies are a business to make profits - that is a given as with EVERY business.Nobody works for free- nobody.EVERY company take a % and gives it to R&D, some more than others.
Every drug has a side effect due - quite often it is exchanging one set of problems for another to prolong life.
After 10 years in organ transplantation and seeing R&D, clinical, and government. The government is always looking to cut costs and people think healthcare is a "entitlement"

I have health problems that do rely on prescription (diabetes, mainly) but I think treatment of things like depression in anything but the most extreme cases makes it too easy for people to mask the symptoms instead of sorting the cause. Fat loss pills? Walk to a pharmacy a couple of miles further away lol

@Shindai Let me make this clear. Type 1 diabetes is inherited and you need a prescription. Type 2 diabetes is due to poor diet and lack of exercise.
Secondly, obesity and diabetes costs an average of $700,000 per patient (this is documented). So if you have type 1 diabetes, I am sorry for your condition. If you have type 2 diabetes, take responsibility for your health. It is proven that this can be CURED by DIET and EXERCISE.

@bobf4428 Thanks for your condolences, it's quite shocking how expensive such an illness is, both in terms of money and other less replenishable things, namely legs lol. I was diagnosed type 1 a couple of months after my twelfth birthday, though my diet at the time was shocking and may have had something to do with it lol.

I just got off depressants because they were making me depressed (go figure), and the first thing they say to me is "maybe we need to look at anti-depressants". The entire industry (psychiatrists, psychologists, psych workers, pharmacists and drug companies) is designed to get every single person on the planet to be on some sort of drug. The DSM (Diagnostic Statistical Manual) has an illness or disorder for ever single person on the planet. With a corresponding drug they want to sell you.

Kudos to you for coming clean on big pharma. I have watched family and friends go to early graves because of the adverse effects of drug cocktails. Metformin or glucophage killed my father who died of pancreatic cancer and never had diabetes. My mother inlaw, took the same drug. She developed similar symptoms and died due to bowel cancer. A friend in Brixham took metformin and became seriously ill, skin yellow, eyes yellow, indicating liver failure. symptoms reversed when he stopped the drug!

The problem is we love dope. For instance, ADD is cured with diet and excersise. Almost 100% of the time. Who wants to hear that though? Cocaine "cures" it too. Most people would rather take the synthetic coke they make and sit on the couch eating potato chips. The only reason they don't use real cocaine is it would immediately reveal the complete hypocrisy of the "War on Drugs." Pain management drugs are even worse as they deepen the neural pathways that cause the pain in the first place.

@deejsteriser is a pharma troll. His reference to antibiotics, which were invented by an independent scientist, not any drug company, is deceptive, but does point up the fact that since their introduction, virtually no "cures" have been invented by any drug company. Rather, the objective of all new pharmaceuticals is to simply manage the symptoms of a disease, such as diabetes, cardio-vascular conditions, and arthritis, rather than actually cure the disease. This creates a profitable addiction.

It is even worse than the rep states. The FDA is a co conspirator in this game, to the point of approving drugs that its own scientific panel recommends be rejected on safety and efficacy grounds. This agency sees itself, at least the appointees do, as the advocate of the drug companies, not as their regulator. Their latest campaign to outlaw dietary supplements, which have been proven safe and effective over many years of use, is another example of catering to the drug companies.

Statements like this aren't just controversial, they are dangerous.
Many of her "facts" are factually incorrect or misleading. She states that "a" report found SSRIs were no more effective than a placebo. The Cochrane Review (which independently consolidates reports to establish best practice) found:
"Seventeen studies were included in the review, involving 3097 participants. Based on all 17 studies, SSRIs as a group were more effective than placebo in reducing the symptoms of OCD"

@deejsteriser Secondly,suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the US.To spread poorly founded rumours that the drugs that can and do save lives are at best no better than a placebo and at worst addictive is downright dangerous.
It doesn't take a genius to be a salesman like this woman. It does take a genius to invent a cure for disease, such as antibiotics (which incidentally are still developed by Pharmas, don't require you to take them forever and without which I would not be here now).

Gwen in not saying medicine isn't scientifically proven in many cases -- she's saying the system of funding, discovering and providing medicines is broken, and doesn't have the reduction of human suffering as a goal. No one's saying PROVEN medicine doesn't work (although undoubtably some studies have been twisted by vested interests, but again, that's a symptom of a broken system).

It's sad that people need to be told this. Best example I can think of is Jonas Salk, the guy who developed the polio vaccine. His work and what he did with it was the pure antithesis of big pharma.

@inademv It was the mid-50s, things have unfortunately changed. I've heard of a vaccine against lung cancer found by a laboratory in Argentina. In my opinion, the U.S. pharmaceutical lobby will do what they can to block it because they would lose too much money !

@inademv Well, maybe I was wrong. Actually, it wasn't in Argentina but in Cuba, and this information was on the broadcast on CNN on November 30. They said that the doctor Gisela Gonzalez and her team have created a vaccine against lung cancer.

@tahine2005 I don't know if you want to lump in a "last hope" cancer treatment drug that hasn't undergone widespread testing yet into a list of quality medications. Also from what all I've read on it, the impression I got is that it also is a drug you would be on for the rest of your life (which would probably be rather short since it is a drug for stage 3-4 lung cancer patients).

@inademv My father passed away years ago from a lung cancer that's probably the reason I thought it was an amazing discover. I'm not a scientist and I don't know anything about the mecanisms of the cancer and their treatments.
