I have a two year old and she speak Amharic like this. It breaks my heart to know that someone had to give up the kid because it is beyond their capacity to raise him. I am glad someone who cares for him took him in as their own. Everytime I watch this video, my heart bleeds...
How sad, he is calling his home back in Ethiopia. No offense, but i feel he seems out of place. how old is he now? does he still know about his language and culture? I always see people with adopted Ethiopian babies when they leave Ethiopia on airplanes.
@ethiolove098 He is my brother and right now he is six and knows absolutely no Amharic any more :( We just brought Zahra home about four months ago and she has adjusted really well :)
OMG! Funniest Video Ever. I watched it at least 10 times And had to get a tissue to dry my tears. Still laughing, "atmechem beyase timechalesh," " enda ena alshenahum" wowooo so cute!!
he also said he is going to sell that phone to everybody. lol. what a cutie! He is really trying to get who ever is on the phone to come and meet him. he is really bossn' somebody. ---laughing too tears.
funny kid! Actually he was not saying "I didn't pee on me" .he was saying" I didn't do any work. How come you work when I'm not working? I told you not to come, but you're coming anyways" it looks like
he was saying " I didn't pee..." because he couldn't make the sounds 'S' & 'R' yet. so he replaced the 'S' sound with 'SH' and the 'R' sound with 'L'.To say " sirayen alserahoom", he said " shilayen alshelahum" :-)))
Omg! He is so cute! He must really miss who ever he was talking to. He kept saying" I didn't pee on me, I told u". So cute. I wonder how he is doing now.
Apparently he is convincing this girl (his potty trainer or baby-sitter) that he didn't pee on himself( ene laye lay alshennahum) but she isn't listening so he gets pissed and tells her to back off (ene alchilewumma bey ciao) and not to come over...he's trying to get his point across but she's still not getting it (I wonder why lol)...he is so cute and funny!
We are thankful for everyones kind comments and interpretations. Wanting to know what he was saying we posted it never realizing it would become so popular. We are aware now that the content of the infamous "phone call" was one of confusion for Silas. This was taped on our layover in Chicago, he knew no english and we were complete strangers taking him to a new country. I will post a new updated video of our amazing son! He has adjusted beautifully, we are so blessed to be his parents.
lol..so funny..i can hear what he is saying. Already missed his people back at the orphanage!! can u imagine he couldnt talk with u guys until he learns english...lolz I hope u guys help him with the Amharic he is speaking (probably he will forget soon)
I hear that he is saying" atimchi beyash timetchalesh inde" meaning, "you are coming when I told you not to come?" He is not missing someone, he is just a comedian!! :-) thanks for sharing the video.
Dear Silas's parents! I KNOW you will give him a loving home--but people are failing to listen to what the kid is saying: he is terribly missing someone, and desperately calling them out to come to him. I laughed first becasue I thought he was mocking someone--"achin timatchalesh"--is "are you comming?" (feminin) and he says it a couple of times. He almost made me cry..But don't worry he soon will forget home and will more than embrace you with the same love you are embracing him!!!
@Fasil777 Perhaps you're right...but I stand with my comment for the simple fact that this was taped at Chicago's O'Hare airport just hours after he left home to start his new life. (Neither you nor I of course know exactly what was going through his head, but we can make a reasonable guess.)
oh my god, this is so funny. From what I understood he said, he thought he was speaking to a girl on the phone saying to her "hello, aren't you coming? hmmm hmm what are you doing? I want to see you. Ok bye. I just want to see you, bye. Hello, Hello, Who is this? What are you doing? Are you working? Listen girl, I told you not to come and you are coming. Hello Hello."
Thank you all for your kind words. We are doing our best to keep Silas' amharic, he still understands more then he will speak. Thank you for your suggestions, he has videos he watches, we speak what we can to him and we are definately going to check out some of the Ethiopian churches around. We are so blessed by this sweet boy.
lmao..the girl he's talking to supposedly on the "phone" is getting him mad..he's telling her he didnt "pee"(random i know) he's telling her to listen and demanding her to come over here..haha and its not like he's trying to be funny..which makes it funnier.. he has a cute voice and imagination.
I think this is the cutest/funniest thing I've ever seen on youtube. Please post up more videos and please don't let him loose his Amharic he's so good and funny. God Bless
oh how adorable...kids his age even older tend to forget the language real quick. It was a joy hearing him talk. If there is any around where you live, please try taking him to Ethiopian church where they have special Sunday school classes. It is the best place for kids like Silas to stay in touch with their culture and heritage while growing spiritually.

@HabenBini I dont think it goes that deep, he's simply imitating something he saw. He's saying " Ciao Im not waiting for u , are you coming etc".
