your notice that both currys and comet promise to price match on identical items. if you look at the big ticket products in these shops they have slightly different model numbers, the model number signifies the set was made for come or currys. if you try to go to currys they will tell you that their identical washer/tv is a different model therefore won't price match. dont believe me? next time your in comet/currys take a note of a expensive item and compare it in currys/comet.
@cisco9x i use currys and comets for their shop windows now. choose a product then go home and order it online from someone else cheaper. did you know the old Laskeys brand is alive and well? its owned by comet and undercuts comet bigtime. in my case by £120 on a dishwasher. The comet and laskey staff sit in the same building. The delivery was in a black non badged comet lorry..nuff said
Around the time of this ad, those dreaded 'extended warranties' started to come into fashion. Electrical shops released they could make money from old rope.
Rumbelows certainly "rumbled" themselves because it wasn't long before that ad was aired that this electrical chain went to the wall. Two of it's competitors, Curry's and Comet, meanwhile just go on and on and on and on...............so what the hell went wrong? Mike S.
That's a bit of a distorted statement. At the same time Rumbelows closed Comet had not been making profit for several years and nearly went bankrupt themselves in the mid-90's, they just didn't have it quite as bad as rumbelows, although they almost went under too.
@hugalove compitative pricing. companies talk a good talk about liking the free market and giving the customer choice, when in reality all they really want is a monopoly. we are left with currys or comet who have the market to themselves because of their buying power with manufacturers. is there much difference in price between comet and currys?
