my s2 is not working it does not go to download mode using the buttons. it does not turn on but when i plug it on the usb it loads up and its stuck on the boot screen . i gave it to the samsung service center so they told me it will take 97$ to fix it so should i take it back n try to make a jig .. will it go to download mode plzzz helppp asap or should i tell him to fix it ??

finally a detailed video, but try showing the longer portion of the usb connector to referance 4 5, as the top longer than the bottom, zero referance, using phone is great also for referance on 4.,5

I'm sure somebody has pointed this out, but 3 100K ohm resistors will give you 300K ohms. Getting 300K ohms from 3 100K ohms IS the effect of wiring them in series. You don't get an extra 1K ohm from the series. This works with a wide range of resistances. Check XDA, somebody used a variable resistor to see what range the phone would accept, and it's somewhere between 270K and 320K ohms.

@finalfantasy10121 does not fix bootloop, gets you into download mode where as from there you can flash back to stock firmware, thus fixing your bootloop.
Just saved my phone for 8.57. Radioshack sells the resistors. Instead of buying a whole cable or charger and having to cut it up they also sell a micro usb "iGo" adapter, it is a small micro usb male end with the leads already exposed with copper rods on the other end, only about 1/2 long, no cutting just twist the resistors, plus in the iGo (which the leads are set up the same as the video) and boom done.

This is also an way to do it put you phone on a charger NOT USB JUST WALL POWER and then wait about 45 MINUTES then its got hot on the back en is the 45 MINUTES are over pull out your charger and hold VOLUME DOWN + HOME + POWER thats the way do also do it

I used odin3 to flash my sgs rom and it stopped in the middle of the process. Then I unplugged the usb and took the battery out. Since then my sgs can't start at all even I press the power button (black screen and no sign of power). Can I use usb jig to bring it to the download mode?
@kvk118 It MAY work in your scenario but there is a chance you are hard bricked. If you are, search for "captivate jtag" and watch my jtag service video. I can still fix your phone in the scenario as well...

@gaivoron You install Odin3 v1.0 and click start on odin with your phone connected o the computer. also make sure you have the samsung usb drivers installed. :)

i just bought the $8 jig, and i can't wait for it to come. My captivate keeps turning on and going into recovery mode, like an endless loop. This happened right after i flashed cyanogenmod 7. i cant get it into download mode for the life of me. my captivate won't let me do anything, even if i pull the battery. Will this jig work for this?

I just ordered your tool from Germany. I hope this will unbrick my SGS as I flashed a wrong ROM onto it, namely a Captivate one. Now it is stuck at the AT&T boot logo and nothing works anymore.
i tried resetting my phone to stock to put another rom on but odin froze just before it finished so i unplugged it to try again but it wouldnt turn back on or get into download mode or anything, its just dead :(

and in the process of flashing cm7-captivate-initial-kernel.tar I ended getting stuck at the GALAXY S CYANOGEN (mod) screen.
Now for all the Download and Recovery modes i used the ADB COmmands
since my captivate doesnt have a three button combo..
The problem i have is i cant get into recovery mode.
1)becuase phone is not getting detected so no adb commands would work
2)no 3 button fix.
and i am stuck. Would htis method work for my scenario.?

@MobileTechVideos: I wastrying to reflash my cappy and yanked the usb during Odin wich soft brick the phone, I said no worries,i have my jig....put it in and nothing, I thought it was my phone so tried my sons cappy, nothing. So, I've got a Samsung Galaxy S2. I changed the PIT in ODIN. And now I just got a black screen. Nothing works. I think this is called 'bricked' but I'm not sure. Will this method work for me?

300kOhm is enough! That 1kOhm is not necessary. 2x150kOhm resitors will do the magic!

So, will this work as long as the phone is softbricked? Mine is stuck at the bootscreen and every key combo I've tried just puts it at a screen where it shows the battery charging.

@finalfantasy10121 does not fix bootloop, gets you into download mode where as from there you can flash back to stock firmware, thus fixing your bootloop.

Just saved my phone for 8.57. Radioshack sells the resistors. Instead of buying a whole cable or charger and having to cut it up they also sell a micro usb "iGo" adapter, it is a small micro usb male end with the leads already exposed with copper rods on the other end, only about 1/2 long, no cutting just twist the resistors, plus in the iGo (which the leads are set up the same as the video) and boom done.

I was bricked and couldn't get past the phone-!-computer screen for the life of me...tried everything over and over. Read the usb jig thread, watched a youtube vid and built one out of 3 100k resitors for $1.19 at radio shack and cut up an old micro usb tip.... Flawless! got to D/L Mode in about 5sec and Odin'd back to factory... I'm alive again.

This is also an way to do it put you phone on a charger NOT USB JUST WALL POWER and then wait about 45 MINUTES then its got hot on the back en is the 45 MINUTES are over pull out your charger and hold VOLUME DOWN + HOME + POWER thats the way do also do it

I used odin3 to flash my sgs rom and it stopped in the middle of the process. Then I unplugged the usb and took the battery out. Since then my sgs can't start at all even I press the power button (black screen and no sign of power). Can I use usb jig to bring it to the download mode?

@kvk118 It MAY work in your scenario but there is a chance you are hard bricked. If you are, search for "captivate jtag" and watch my jtag service video. I can still fix your phone in the scenario as well...

mine is Galaxy Mini S5570, or some may call it Pop.
i had tried the jig... i manage to bought only the 300k ,one piece.
and another is 330k, one piece.
i tried on both ,... different pin... but still get nothing ....:(
i had used plastic to cover in case accidently touch the metal.
it should be ok with 1 piece, right? as long as it is 300k
very sad... could someone please advise where did i not doing right?

love the vids.. will be donating... anyway my friend brought her brand new capp to me to root and install custom rom.. i have been installing these and am currently running mosaic II. anyway i went to download mode on her phone and used oden to flash to eclair with oden... when i rebooted i could not get it back to download plus its in a bootloop at att screen and back to black. ive done all i know to get to download mode... will this help[, and will i be able to flash anything with odin if so?

i just bought the $8 jig, and i can't wait for it to come. My captivate keeps turning on and going into recovery mode, like an endless loop. This happened right after i flashed cyanogenmod 7. i cant get it into download mode for the life of me. my captivate won't let me do anything, even if i pull the battery. Will this jig work for this?

@Sketchguitar9204 Yes it will. It will put you into download mode just fine. Make sure the battery is out then put it back in. Now put in the JIG and cound to 3... :)

I would have had to use my old blackberry, nobody wants that thing haha. so i take the battery out, put it back in, stick in the jig, and then turn it on and it'll go into download mode. if i take the jig out will it still be in download mode so i can plug it into my comp and use odin to get it back to default? and i never got a confirmation email when i purchased the jig, is that normal?

I made mine more permanent using solder!
I happened to find a rare 301 ohm resistor at my local electronics shop so i used that and it worked!

I just ordered your tool from Germany. I hope this will unbrick my SGS as I flashed a wrong ROM onto it, namely a Captivate one. Now it is stuck at the AT&T boot logo and nothing works anymore.

i tried resetting my phone to stock to put another rom on but odin froze just before it finished so i unplugged it to try again but it wouldnt turn back on or get into download mode or anything, its just dead :(
