People need to grow up. As long as the man treats the dog properly and gives her proper attention he can definitely crop her ears. Its a simple procedure arguably less intense than spay and nudering.

i came across this while looking for seperate opinions on my dogs ears.. he is a 3 year old pit that does not have his ears cropped but it has been reccommended now because he has "cauliflower" ear . NO not from fighting..hes a big baby.. he was wallowing on the patio and hit his ear weird, it swelled up and this is the result :( it seems sensitive and they vet said cropping is the best option. so think before you pass judgement . not everyone has the same case as you

hey ghost6971 it dose have health benefits as you no pit bulls get ear infections you mite not thinks so but if you look at a dogs ears on the inside you will see a lot of ear wax and if it is black it mean's it is infected almost every pit bull and dog i see has it cus no 1 treats it cus no 1 thinks it is a problem but when you get them cropped it helps air get through to the ear more and helps it from not getting infected so ear cropping is good for pit bulls

And on the note that is has no health benefits, thats not so true. By having the ears cropped there is nothing hanging over the hole of the ear at all, making the dogs hearing slightly better, in turn allowing the dog to respond and alert to sounds a short time faster then usual, ideal for guard purpose dogs.

It is a requirement for pitbulls to get their ears cropped if they're going to show and live up to the "standard" of the breed, just like boxers and dobermans. If you have a problem with that, then take it up with the AKC, CKC, and other organizations. Don't take it out on responsible pet owners and breeders
Plus it was originated to make the breed look more ferocious, as the breed was bred for protection, hunting large game, and fighting.

I understand why people want to do it, but its not fair on the dog. It DOES put it under a lot of pain, its a living creature just like you. If you had your ears chopped in half you would cry when you woke up from anasthetics (sometimes they dont even use it) and tail docking is even worse than this btw. If you get it done at the right place and are willing to pay the right amount of moeny, the vets do the procedure so good that the dogs don't even really realize it. They give pain killers and stuff for afterwards too. I always go to the same place even though he is more expensive because I know he does a really good job. None of my dogs have even whined or anything after the crop. They just scratch a lot because the bandge gets itchy.
So it really depends on the owner and if they are willing to spend that extra amount to make sure their dog is in good hands. And I am personally against tail docking so I know where you are coming from in that subject!!

I did research on clipping dogs ears recently cause at 1st I was against it so I called my vet & she said it doesnt cause pain for the dogs it causes discomfort.. on the other hand when you get your dog "fixed" it causes a great deal of after pain and it's a much longer recovery for the dog. The vet also told me that a dog is not aware that his ears were clipped all he knows is that somethings different, on the other hand a dog is 100% aware when he is fixed which he will be reminded of forever.

Maybe you critics should get facts before jacking off at the jaw, yeah? The #1 reason for ear cropping is looks, it makes the dog look tougher as well as better looking in show. And on the note that is has no health benefits, thats not so true. By having the ears cropped there is nothing hanging over the hole of the ear at all, making the dogs hearing slightly better, in turn allowing the dog to respond and alert to sounds a short time faster then usual, ideal for guard purpose dogs.

It is a requirement for pitbulls to get their ears cropped if they're going to show and live up to the "standard" of the breed, just like boxers and dobermans. If you have a problem with that, then take it up with the AKC, CKC, and other organizations. Don't take it out on responsible pet owners and breeders
Plus it was originated to make the breed look more ferocious, as the breed was bred for protection, hunting large game, and fighting.

If you had your ears chopped in half you would cry when you woke up from anasthetics (sometimes they dont even use it) and tail docking is even worse than this btw. If you get it done at the right place and are willing to pay the right amount of moeny, the vets do the procedure so good that the dogs don't even really realize it. They give pain killers and stuff for afterwards too. I always go to the same place even though he is more expensive because I know he does a really good job. None of my dogs have even whined or anything after the crop. They just scratch a lot because the bandge gets itchy.

I did research on clipping dogs ears recently cause at 1st I was against it so I called my vet & she said it doesnt cause pain for the dogs it causes discomfort.. on the other hand when you get your dog "fixed" it causes a great deal of after pain and it's a much longer recovery for the dog. The vet also told me that a dog is not aware that his ears were clipped all he knows is that somethings different, on the other hand a dog is 100% aware when he is fixed which he will be reminded of forever.

yes they do make me sick. i am opposed to spaying and neutering too btw. if these people truly love their dogs more than anything else, they would leave them alone with all of their parts intact. I think that it is really stupid that animals have to have parts cut off to look "right"

Not spaying and neutering your animal is not good for it's health if not allowed to breed. It causes stress and letting them breed overpopulates. Your ignorance surprises me. Cropping is a persoanl choice for the owner but if you are going to criticize people, try criticizing doctors who perform circumcisions on newborn human babies every day people!
