@buckmysawlz Possibly, but he's gonna have to really tear it up over the next few years for that to happen. I'm not sure if 4-2 in SBs would even do it. A lot of these fans feel he'll never eclipse Montana just based on the fact that Brady has lost 2 SBs and Montana never threw a pick in any SBs and played in a tougher era for QBs. That's a little short-sighted IMO though. 5-2 with a 3rd MVP would probably do it. But the 5 SBs, 2 MVPs, huge numbers, records puts Brady way up there.
He is the best QB of all time. No INTs in ANY of his 4 Super Bowls. How the fuck can you accomplish that? Extremely accurate, great arm, and extremely smart. Only Peyton Manning and Johnny Unitas were smarter QB's, but neither had Joe's ability.
@prayforme111 actually I have and his stats show that he played like garbage how are u going to argue 9/14 96 yds in the biggest game of the year? or 2 TDs and 3 INTs?
@cbaldwinjr Terry Bradshaw played like garbage in the SB. 9/14 96 yds 1 TD horrible. 9/19 209 2TDs , 17/30 318 4TDs 1 Int his best SB stat wise, and 14/21 2TDs and 3INTS and somehow gets an undeserved SB MVP thats garbage Montana out played him in every game. Why do you think he is never brought up when talking about the GOAT?
DOES ANYBODY OUT THERE HAVE A VIDEO WHEN BOOMER ESIASON SAD HALF OF AMERICA SAID MONTANA WAS NOT THAT GOOD ANYWAY.?THE SEGMENT WAS AFTER NFL NETWORK TOP 100 PLARERS IN HISTORY COUNTDOWN AFTER THEY NAMED MONTANA 4#.ESIASON WAS RESPONDING TO THE PEOPLE WHO SAID MONTANA WAS NOT THAT GOOD ANYWAY AND PEOPLE WHO SAID HE WAS JUST A WALSH SYSTEM PRODUCT.
Montana cemented his GOAT status after beating the shit out of Denver's #1 scoring defense in super bowl 24, hanging 55 points on them. His '88 and '89 postseasons are legendary.
@Cantankerous55 then your argument holds no water because he's was winning Super Bowls before being paired with elite talent and afterwards the culmination of that was the utter destruction of Denver 55-10. Numbers don't lie. 4-0 in SB's, 11 TD's-0 INT's, QB rating of 127.8, I mean, c'mon man. Don't deny the truth, your eyes are not lying to you, Montana was/is the greatest quaterback who ever lived bar none.
Nonsense. Look at all the talent Montana DIDN'T have in Kansas City around him. And what did he do? He led the Chiefs to the playoffs AND an AFC Championship game. That 1981 49ers team had only one real offensive star besides Montana and that was Dwight Clark, and Clark was never a great player. They inserted Montana into the starting lineup and they went from trash to Super Bowl champions.
Montana is rated right where he belongs: #1 QB of all time.
@Cantankerous Joe had better talent? Do you even know who was on his team in his 1st Super Bowl other than Dwight Clark? How about his second? And don't even mention Jerry Rice because Joe Montana was winning the big game before Jerry had hit town, he was already a legend with a team roster you couldn't name without looking it up online. Joe beat Elway in Kansas city anyway.
Elway was a way better QB I think montana had more talent around him then Elway the 49ers were a stronger team than the Brocos that doesnt mean that Montana was a better QB than Elway
elway had the greatest running back in the league when he won his two super bowls davis had a better two year period than sanders, smith, payton, brown, elway had 1.000 yard wide outs look at elways stats in his first super bowl horrible he won because of terrell davis carrying him in the 90 super bowl montana threw 5 td's on the leagues number 1 defense that year and elway is better i think not
@Sage80 its kinda hard for a receiver to lead a team to the super bowl..its easier for a great qb to lead a team to the super bowl than it is for a great receiver. is roddy white ever going to lead the falcons to the super bowl? i doubt it
@QBDogKiller nope go look at the stats they dont lie Roddy is a great receiver. probly not the best example i couldve used but he consistently has over 1000 receiving yards
@QBDogKiller you could say the same for andre johnson, calvin johnson, larry fitz and greg jennings.. theyre all surrounded by atleast 2 offensive stars
@QBDogKiller dude im sorry but your comment was so dumb that i have to reply to it twice. here are whites receiving yards since 07: 1202, 1382, 1153, 1389, 1296. average receiver? i think not
@Sage80 In all fairness, if the 90's Cowboys were ALSO in that gauntlet of 80's teams that included the Bears, Redskins, and Giants, the 49ers don't win four titles either...just sayin. But Montana is the greatest QB ever simply for what he did in 1993. Kansas City since 1969 has one THREE playoff games. TWO of them were courtesy of Joe Montana. And if Kimble Anders doesn't let a sure TD bounce of his chest and into Henry Jones' arms in the AFC Championship, MAYBE he gets a shot at his 5th SB.
As good as Jerry Rice was, he had no business being ranked higher than Montana or at number one on this list. What a joke. As good as he was, at least a portion of his success was dependent on the guy throwing him the ball.
Montana is the best I ever saw and one of my favorite players ever. And this is coming from a lifelong NY Giants fan and 49ers HATER. Joe Cool was just that, had the best instincts of any QB since Johnny U
i always say montana is best ever. but if brady does end up winning more superbowls, say he beats the giants and ties montana he could go on to win even more. its realistic to say brady can retire with 6
quick name me some HOFers from 81-84 49ers offense
fact is steve young had far superior teams in the 90s - especially defensively but he could only manage one superbowl in the face of packers and cowboys while joe took on the redskins, giants, cowboys, bears, bengals, every dominating team in the 80s.
@LordHannigan I know right? Even as good as Tom Brady is to get to 5 superbowls (only 2nd QB ever) he has only to this date won 3 of them. lost 1 to Eli Manning, and will probably lose another in a couple weeks. Smart player, and of course was underpicked. Joe Montana will always be up there, even without all the records. Until someone does what he did at the time, noone could ever beat him board wise.
@Gungho73 Dan Marino should've been before him. Dan Marino had a shit team while Joe montana probably had the most talented team of al time. If he didn't win with that team then he would probably be the worst qb ever.
Just ask the GOAT who the greatest quarterback of all time is. He also played with another great QB in Steve Young.

Turner, Gonzalez and Julio Jones allow him to make more plays.

THe difference is they actually show up in playoff games.
-Larry broke post-season records when the Cards got to the super bowl.
-Gregg Jennings was instrumental in the super bowl vs. the Steelers
- Calvin had +200 yards vs. the Saints this season
-Andre managed to put great numbers despite having TJ Yates throwing him. He had +200 yards and a TD in two playoff games. Do the math.
Roddy White has a history of disappearing in playoff games = overrated.
