Shep was called Kirk cause he romanced the alien priestess. Which we all know Kirk did a lot but anyway there isn't any real similarities between Trek and Atlantis cause Atlantis is better in every way. McKay vs Spock a match I'd pay to see.

Atlantis crew are ordinary human beings unlike other stories. McKay Sheppard Weir Zelanka and even Teyla and Ronon are human. There is no supernatural talent for them (except Teyla can sense Wraith proximities) First hero Sheppard is a party boy , not a real soldier and this makes him funny.
